Marbury is off the books. So is Malik.

Jamal, Eddie, Quentin, and Jerome James have player options.

Roberson has a team option.

Lee and Robinson become restricted free agents if they don't accept the qualifying offer. They will be up for extensions.

Lots of possible drama this coming Summer. Curry is not happy. Marbury is going to want to resign. Lee and Robinson are going to want big pay days. So is Jamal.

Don't forget about the draft either!

I think a big piece of drama that we're going to be facing, btw, IS Eddie Curry. I think after a season of being on the bench, I think he's going to be soooooo angry that he just may be nutso enough to opt out and sign for less, with another team. Unless he's dumb enough to think he can get more somewhere.

The sad thing is, if he played up to half his ability, his contract wouldn't be that bad and him opting out would be expected. That's my first prediction though. Curry opts out.

Jamal gets signed and traded.

No more Marbury/Malik.

Nate stays, Lee gets traded at some point during the season.

Jerome stays, Quentin stays.

We draft Thabeet. PEJ finds his way back here.

i think they keep Nate and Lee. I think Jamal opts out. I think they try their darnedest to get rid of Curry, but to no avail. I think ZBO sticks around because D'Antoni ends up liking him a lot.

I almost think they might sign Marbury to a one year extension, but he'll probably just walk away at the end of the year.

I think they draft a point guard or a shooting guard in the draft.

If I had my way I would let everyone who is going to walk, walk. Lee and Nate included. Start as fresh as they can and move on from the current team. Build around Gallo, Chandler and if they select a center of the future.

With everything surrounding Jerome James and the idea that they are going to sit him until January hoping to get a medical buyout, I wouldn't put it past Walsh/Dantoni to sit Curry most of the year and let him stew on the bench in hopes he opts out at seasons end. It'll be good for the team (or try to move him at the deadline) but I cant see him walking away from that kind of money.

I think Lee will be moved before the year is out.

Nate will resign.

Jamal aint walking away from that money. Neithier is Q

Malik and Marb walk.

Roberson finishes his cup of coffee and he walks aswell.

We will draft a guard.

This sounds about right. Malik, Marbury and Roberson will be on their way. Lee will be traded somewhere as Gallinari emerges. Hopefully one or two of the bigger contracts will be moved, but I don't expect anyone who is overpaid to walk away from the money.

I predict that aliens will land on top of Madison Square Garden. They will hook up with the Illuminati in one of the sky boxes and select a new leader to reign over the new one-world government. And that man shall be Jerome James.

Just remember where you heard it first.

we'll still be over the cap w/no realistic shot at getting under to target any bigname FA's the following season & no francise player to build around... happy?

By next summer, Rose and Marbury will definitely be gone. Walsh will likely let them walk unless a star player becomes available. I think we will try and trade Curry for a young prospect or a 1st round pick, which would be great at this point. Everyone else will probably be around until 2010. We will likely resign Lee and Nate. Lee for $10-$11 mill and Nate for $6 mill per season.

We get Steve Nash!

I am serious. He will be 35 1/2 yrs old. Phoenix has a team option for $13,250,000. If they feel they can't win in 2009/10, they will either try a sign and trade or just let him go. They have an old team with Shaq also making big money - $20 million and Amare at $16.4 million, Diaw at $9 mil. etc.

I think Walsh made the dumbest move by not trading Lee if you werent going to resign him. This almost guarantees you have to take a big in the draft next year. If you dont and a team gives Lee a big contract then you have Z-Bo and Curry as your inside game. I think they let Lee go and they sign Nate to about 4 per year. You draft Thabet or Mullins. You then try to convince Lebron in the prime of his career to play with a rookie and Gallinari and take New York to the promise land.

Depending on how well they do this season, that will dictate either most of the same faces for the time being or a lot of new faces, and busted up big ass contracts. Finally!
I'll never trust this' team again.

I dont think you can sign and trade a restricted free agent. Walsh should have traded Lee this year and got something for him.

i believe that was the plan on Draft night but things didn't work out... now they've chosen to keep their options open before taking on any more longterm salary... i personally believe it's more of a Dolan decision than Walsh's.

Sure you can, that's how Joe Johnson ended up in Atlanta and Diaw in Phoenix.

Nate and Lee leave. The Knicks draft another forward ignoring potential franchise changing talent because they lost Lee and Gallo's future is uncertain because of injury concerns. The medical retirement for James is denied. Randolph has a monster offensive season but the team success is limited to 30 games. D'Antoni keeps repeating the mantra good offense trumps defense despite losing 10 games in the final minute because his team could not get stops. Donnie Walsh in an attempt to redeem himself to fans signs Damien Wilkins to the full mid level exception but for only 1 year so that he can stick with his brilliant plan that no other GM is aware of.
