Miami is very scary with their 3 athletic freaks in Marion, Beasley, and Wade....with those 3 guys alone it could get ugly. Outside of their big three they have Haslem and some hungry young point guards.

D'antoni's guys looked awesome the first few pre-season games then went flat and looked like the same old Knicks the last two pre-season games......it all counts now. I expect the guys to be hyped up and excited. Even with the big three in Miami, if the Knicks play their game and just attack........they should win. Go Knicks!!!!

props on Big C with the vid.

This is why i say the Knicks should win. they just have to come in with confidence and run the offense. alot of those scores were set plays

This is why I say the Knicks will lose. Because we still have 90% of Isiah's punks hitting the hardwood, and other teams have franchise players like Kevin Garnett.

Last year's team! Different coach. Different style. Different vibe. Last year they quit on Isiah and he quit on them. You can't compare last year with this year!

Go Knicks!

Yes I can. Players make the coach, not vice versa. Steve Nash made D'Antoni. Don Chaney, Herb Williams, Lenny Wilkens, Larry Brown, and Isiah Thomas failed. The last 3 coaches failed with basically the same team. That tells you something. The style is different but the results will be the same for the most part.

OK - you can compare last year and project to this year but it is comparing apples to oranges. Some of the main underlying parameters have significantly changed.

But make your picks in the game-picker thread and we'll see how the Knicks do.

What!?!?!?!

I think D'Antoni made Nash! Nobody was thinking too highly of Nash when he was in Dallas....everyone though he was good but nobody in Knick land wanted him and a highly remember that back in those days.

In pheonix everything meshed. D'antoni's style of play and the players. Amare, Marion, Nash, Joe Johnson? in a pure uptempo system? Diaw? Raja? who are these guys? So Nash made everyone?

The Knicks have been losing cuz......wait for it....................................................................................................................SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHEN WERE THE KNICKS EVER GOOD UNDER LAYDEN OR ISIAH? WHEN DID THEY GET GOOD PLAYERS? WHEN DID THEY GET MARION? AMARE?

So cut the nonsense......just enjoy the new season. you do know how to enjoy something right?

Nash was the Pg that D'Antoni needed to run that offense. Nash was built to run that offense. Nobody else could do it as good as him. Let me reiterate - players make the coach, not the other way around. Amare, Marion and the rest made themselves with some help from Nash. Then they used the coach to come together as one and win games. D'Antoni definitely had a hand in the success in Phoenix but he's not God. And this isn't Phoenix. So wake up and smell the coffee Mr. Rant Man. The only thing positive for the next 2 years is Gallinari, Chandler, Nate and Lee (if he is still here). Nothing more, nothing less.

And as far as "knowing how to enjoy things", don't compare my opinion on the lowly Knicks to what I do in my life. Worry about your rants that you seemingly create every other day and the complaining in fantasy. I enjoy my life and worry about it for myself. You worry about your own as well. Thanks.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

GFK-
Players make the coach, not vice versa.
Well, Doc Rivers doesn't agree with you!

Here is a quote from the NY Times - by Howard Beck. Doc Rivers gives D'A a lot of credit for the change he already sees in the Knicks! Our Knicks are going to surprise a lot of people.
Now, D’Antoni is trying to replicate the results without a single All-Star player and, most significant, without Nash orchestrating the offense.

“I believe in the system,” D’Antoni said. “No matter who you have, it’s going to be successful at a certain level if you can get them to do the right thing. So we’ll do the same with our guys. I think we can be really good at it.”

Opponents say they can see traces of the Suns’ offensive DNA in the Knicks. The most obvious difference is that, lacking an All-Star point guard who can dominate the ball, the Knicks are forced to keep it moving until someone finds an open shot.

Doc Rivers, the Boston Celtics’ coach, said the Knicks might even be better suited to run the offense, because they have an abundance of skilled players who can pass and create shots. But the biggest change Rivers noticed during the preseason had nothing to do with tempo or style.

“They were happy,” he said. “It was a happy group. They were playing together. And to me, it makes a big difference.”

A better system and better vibes should make the Knicks more respectable in the short term. True progress will require a high-priced star or two. Until then, D’Antoni will settle for a few bargain overachievers

Winning 33 games with this team wont be some major accomplishment. Maybe they max out at 38 or something. Either way, there is always talk and very little walk from the Knicks. This season is a garbage season anyway so I wont say to go out there and prove it on the court. But winning more games than Isiah wont say anything. D'Antonti is a good coach but not a miracle worker. Nobody is. Phil Jackson would lose here with this team. When we get better personnel then we can better judge D'Antoni's coaching here in New York.

It is a garbage season because it is a season to "evaluate" players and develop youngsters. Win or lose, it doesn't matter.

Thats not a garbage season. It may be for you, but it may be the biggest season we've had in a while. Its not all about W's and L's, its also about evaluation, as you said. But the record will count. We must show improvement and potential while trying to get the best record we can if the famous "2010" plan will work out.
