How long do you guys think that Houston can go on averaging 20 plus ppg? I cant see him maintaning that sort of output past this season. He's 32 and not getting younger, wont come off the books till 2007, his defending will only get worse as he loses his quickness, the only thing of value to us is his scoring, and if he can't score he's pretty much of no use to us. Imagine having an overpaid, untradable 2 guard that can't score as he used to and cant defend as our starter till 2007, cos the only alternative we have is Shandon Anderson (another "Untradable").I think many of us are overlooking the fact that we need to address the 2 guard position much sooner than we think, either in next year's draft or the year after that, assuming laydumb doesn't trade away our picks.

Seriously, i dont think Houston will loose too much of his scoring ability over the next 3-4 years!
And please keep in mind that 32 is NO age at all for a basketball player that is not completely depending on his athltticism.
Allan Houston is def. not relying on his physics and athleticism!!!
That much is clear, hes a spot up shooter and a good one too. (I think next to R.Allen hes got the best form to his j!
He's got the potential to still be around for years to come like all the other strictly shooting guys like Kerr, Mullin, Miller...

It is funny how guys think that once you are over 30, you are done. For most players those are the prime years, Michael, Magic, Bird, Hakeem, Ewing, Mitch Richmond, malone ,Barkley were all dynamic players in their early to mid 30's. remember Basketball is a man's game!! Houston does not rely on Atleticism and at 32, he is not old. he will be fine for at least 4 good years. The guy can shoot, he has ideal height for a SG and without speed still has the ability to get his shot off....

TFK you are right, Houston will still be knocking down shots with those "great defenders" drapped all over him at 35 or more. WHY? Because the NBA is about having confidence in your shot and since hHouston has been getting older is shot is becoming more like Money. Those young guys will be fearful to even wanna check Houston , especially when he gets calls for his now pump fakes as a vet. Naw you can hate Houston for being a nice guy , or not being a great defender but when it come to swishing the net theres no one better.

As Allan gets older, the one thing that will benefit him is his shooting touch. Allan is not your typical all-around player who heavily plays inside or even has the responsibility of controlling the offense. He's just a straight up shooter which will help him as the years comes by. Majority of his offense will be from the outside where you're less liable of sustaining an injury. Look at Reggie Miller who still got the touch. Last yr, Miller avg 16.5 pts per game, 44.5 FG% and still shot over 35% from the 3 pt line @ the age of 37. What makes those stats more intriguing is that Jermaine O'Neal, not Miller was the #1 scoring option on the Pacers team last yr. What Allan needs now to make his game more effective as he gets older is a lethal post-up player on the knicks who would force the double-team(Hopefully McDyess).. This would clearly open up Allan's outside shooting touch..

Got to agree with most of your points, i guess i jumped the gun there on Houston's longeivity (scoring wise), but I still think the Knicks organization have to address the 2 spot sooner rather than later.

<Shakes his head in shame over yet another unintelligent post....> Playa, Houston is a overpaid, heartless hack who needs to be pampered like a child in order to produce just 20 pts a game. We'd have to give him Manhattan Island and rename it Houston-Land in order to motivate him to get a higher PPG mark. It's not worth it b/c he sucks. Compare him to any other premiere 2 guard and his numbers are WAY below. So, in conclusion, he sucks. That is all.

tkf aint you the same guy talking about payton and malone are slowing down becuase of age, blah blah.

come on, man come on.

i know this happens here on this site, but everyone put on a thinking cap. just like anything else you slow down with AGE. it happend to michael, bird, the body starts to break down the body starts to slow down, and even a game that uses little athelitcism will lose skills cuase lets face it our bodies are not designed to run on hard wood 94 feet up and down for at least 48 minutes a day.

to wrap up meaninless talk will houston be effective at 35 (to even wonder this is grosly ridiculous) yeah he might be, but a franchis player? hell no? he aint on now. he can score but franchise players do more than score.

The only thing here twisted is you logic Playa.

Houston STRUGGLED on a below 500 team to get his low 20 someodd points per game. Do you think that he is going to get BETTER on THIS team? He will never see 25 ppg or better unless he learns how to drive to the basket and get TOUGH like other 2's in the league (Pierce, T-Mac, Carter, Christie, Kobe). Hell even Ray Allen drives more than Heartless and he is a shooter by design. Housless' game is going down like a summer trip to Baja....loaded on assumptions of grandure and just ending up waking in a crappy Tiuawna motel with stained sheets and half a bible.

Ice come on man, don't start, all I am saying is that Houston game lends itself to being effective even as he gets older, don't bring payton and malone into this becuase both guys relied on either strength and quickness in malones case and Quickness in paytons case, either way both guys are still good at their perspective ages but you know this is headed into another convo because my reference to payton and malone had to do with them being championship calibre players still....

I guess by that logic we could have argued that Charles Smith was also legit. He dropped at least 1 50 point game.

Houston dropped a 50? WOW!!! Kobe dropped 30 or more FOR THREE WEEKS STRAIGHT (may be off on the number of weeks but I believe the streak was 10 or more games).

Come on, the only thing legit about Houston is his lack of heart. That I won't argue with.

And if you tell me Houston is a better player than Kobe because he dropped 50 on him, you are retarded. Yellow bus, blue rubber helmet, drool bib retarded.

JEDI dude.... layoff the chronic !!!! lol... Nobody said H20 is better than KOBE. I believe its being stated that H20 is a very good SG. Is he better than IVERSON / KOBE / TMAC / ALLEN ???? no, ofcourse not. But he is better that the starting SG's of 25 OTHER teams in the NBA !!! (PAUL PIERCE is a SF) ....... What more do you want from a guy ???
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

Who has more toughness when it comes to playing hurt, the guy almost never misses a game !!! / Heart is not measured by a dunk, but in a clutch game in the playoffs like the MIAMI series ( yea its the past but so is last year ) / The guy led his team in scoring over 90% of the time !!! / Leadership ??? How do you know that during the SPREWELL incident that H2O wasn't the one who kept the guys focused on playing ?? He led by example, dropping 50 a couple of times to create a distraction from the SPREWELL stories... ( lol ) & being the consumate pro !!!! No off court issues !!!! A complete player !! JUST NOT A THUG !!
