If they were going to give him that type of money, they would have began camp with it. I think they are going to ask him for the qualifying offer because it doesn't look like they are going to get rid Randolph.

personally i think it might be best to let the market set the value on lee next summer when he's a RFA. i think Walsh is classy enough to explain the knicks position to Lee without making things acrimonious.

Or better yet, keeping Lee's agent aside (who sounds like a real pain in the ass, talking 'max contract' months ago and coming out and saying his client wouldn't sign a longterm deal to play in Memphis - even though a lot of this had to have come right from Lee himself), maybe Walsh talks directly with Lee during the season & structures a deal where Lee gets nice money overall but defers some money during 2010/2011 when we want to go after that prized FA. He gets the nice contract overall but the organization gets a break that particular year in order to give us optimum cap room to make something happen. That'd be nice and I could see Lee going along with something like that. He should if he wants to win and I think he does. That's how they need go about this. Lee does this and he come out looking like a hero and is back in everyone's good graces around here 100% just in case anyone's still pissed off that we lost out on getting OJ Mayo.

And if they decide Nate's a keeper, maybe you hammer out something similar with Nate too.

Rather than do that- I think what Walsh should do is ask some GM's what they would pay for Lee- namely, if we extend him & trade him, what kind of deal would they accept.

I think we should lock him up now, but make sure the deal we sign him to is moveable.

Walsh is still probably going to trade him. I don't think pre-season games chances the fact that we drafted the Italian Stallion to be a 4 and Lee isn't a 5.

Don't compound what could turn out to be a terrible draft choice by getting rid of your best player. We have to keep Lee. He'll be tradeable if he has a $60 mil contract. If the team can play around .500 with Lee and Zach putting up double doubles, then Zach might actually have a little trade value.

Lee is finally coming into his own. This is the thing we always talked about with him. If he could ever develop a jumper, he'd be a near All Star Level player with significant minutes. We saw him improve his FT's and now his Jumper. He's got everything else he needs now. All he's got to do is keep doing thing every night and he has a chance to get in the conversation.

I've loved Lee's game and I think he's been held back by his own team. Now that things worked out this way with Jared and Curry, MDA has gotten to really see what Lee can do. He's one of our most productive players per minute every year and now I believe he's in MDA's inner circle, which is great!!!

Pay the man, cuz he's the kind of player you keep and a stud FA will want to play with.

Yeah, they should resign him now. He is looking like he is worth $10 mill per year. If he plays this well throughout the season, it is going to cost them an extra $10-$20 mill.

Lets see how the season goes. I wouldn't offer money to anyone on this team right now.

It is really going a little over board in the preseason. We need to see what he does when teams are putting fools on him and everybody is paying for money, not just him. I think it's a best case situation for Walsh right now.

If I was David Lee agent--I would ask for the max. I would ask who is more valuable to you Zach or David?

Why did he wait so long to develope a jumper. What is the motivation? Maybe its contract year if that is the case then you have to wait and see on what he does come this year. Besides this game vs Philly wasn't that great since the Knicks didn't play well until the Sixers scond unit came in.

Well all season is going to be a contract year. So if that's your reasoning, I still don't see what waiting is going to do.

Man he didn't wait to develop a jumper. He just didn't come up as an offensive player. TONS of guys come into the league that way. He worked real hard to improve and it showed up 1st in his FT's and now he's finally got the confidence to take open jumpers. It's not always 2nd nature to every player to be an offensive player. The point is that he worked hard, unlike some players who just give up on it and never get better. He's showing us his determination to improve his game and I think that kind of effort get's rewarded.

Just how many guys in the league can do what he does now? Most of those guys make big bucks. If he was doing this in college we would never have gotten him!!! So we should be glad that he developed for us and now we have a really good player that wants to be here.

Just pay him and cut the crap!!! More than any other Knick this guy has put up with the garbage, continued to work and get better, just shut his mouth and played!

David Lee is better than Ok4 at everything except blocking shots. I think Ok4 got 13mm
