I kind of was banking on him being the key cog to any revitalization of this franchise. I think that he should start.

I am not sure that he didn't do enough, Briggs. It appears that D'Antoni already had his starters in mind (saying he watched tape). Chandler ran exclusively with the second team. Hey at least he didn't just put him on the third team like Collins and Ewing.

As long as he plays > 25 a night this season, I'd be ok w/ it.

I'm with purple on this one, sometimes we all put so much stock into who starts and who doesnt. If he plays 20-30 minutes a night I think we will all be satisfied, well I know I will be thats for sure

MDA has more veterans on the starting team. But this is only the first game of pre-season. Chandler has 3 weeks to prove that he deserves to start. I'm ok with this.

i think it's pretty likely chandler is starting by december or january. i think qrich will start early on to give d'antoni some continuity and a guy who knows his system and can shoot it. but we all know Q is likely to break down after a few months.

I think it's too early to worry about who's starting or not. I think the guys will need to earn it this year, and if chandler earns it he will get it. Regardless of whether he starts or not, I think he will be a key player this year and will get plenty of minutes.

I gotta think that MDA is going with who he trust the most right now. Qrich did deliver for him in Phoenix.

only flaw i've seen w/chandler's offense is he tends to dribble the ball once before he shoots it. he needs to learn to catch and shoot better. particularly in this offense. maybe it's just a minor issue of him setting his feet.

I noticed that too. My personal game is exactly like that. I love the one dribble pull-up. It just feels so comfortable to me. My entire game is built around "one dribble left" and pull up.

For me it's this. I learned at a young age to get my shot off quickly off the dribble because of my height. So when I dribble I tend to dribble in a natural knees bent, ready for the shot position. All I have to do is catch the ball cleanly off my dribble and I'm already half way through the shooting motion. No added motion at all. My form is pure and I feel comfortable. The spot up is different for me. In practice and drills I concentrate on keeping my knees flexed properly before the pass comes my way. When it does I feel just as comfortable. Unfortunately during game action it is a different story. Years and years of shooting "one dribble left" in my youth has given me bad habits that are difficult to get rid of. I tend not to flex my knees on the spot ups. I tend to catch the ball almost straight up and then have to bend to get into my shot. The rythm is off and there is another step added to my shot and it makes me uncomfortable.

I remember Allan Houston talking about this same thing when he first game to the Knicks and was uncomfortable shooting spot ups off the Ewing double teams. It's tough to learn, but obviously Allan learned it, so hopefully Chandler will too. I never did, and it's too late for me. I am a has been.

I just wanna see Wilson Chandler want it. That's it. Eye of the tiger. God knows he's skilled/talented enough to take it to another level and it looks like he's got Walsh's/D'A's seal of approval right off the bat which is huge - all he's got to do now is go out there and take it. I get the feeling he's a little too complacent in the beginning of his career here for whatever reason, maybe because he's new, one of the younger guys, etc... But he's got to get over that quick and realize that it's wide open to succeed here and that there are no veterans on this team that he should be deferring to. Not a single one. If it were up to us fans and Knick management, guys like Steph, Zach, Curry, etc., would all be gone already. Neither the fans nor management want guys like these to be the face of this franchise. Shit, more than half of us want Crawford gone too, and Craw's a good kid. Chandler's got to realize that this team and it's fans are starved for one of these new young guys to step up and really blossom into a player the organization can build around & that we all can be proud of. Unlike Isiah (who drafted the guy then never gave him any PT) D'A wants this kid to shine and it looks like he's gonna pave the way for him to succeed early on but he has to want it for himself first. I think a lot depends on Wilson's mindset - does he go out there and show people that he wants to be the next Shawn Marion and take NYC by storm or is he one of those guys that's just happy to be in the league collecting a nice paycheck??? This league has too many underachieving check-collectors. It's up to Wilson to want more for himself and his team than that. Again, I've said it before, wins and loses don't matter right now - nobody should be getting caught up in that. That's not what's gonna define this season. If you're a Knick fan worried about wins and loses every game you're gonna have a miserable time following this team. We're not at the point where we should even be remotely focusing on winning games right now. But, as far as I'm concerned, if we only won 30-something games but Wilson Chandler developed into a star, that's a hell of a season for us. All the talent and support's there for him, he's got to want it. That's what it comes down to. I guess we'll find out starting tonight....

Bip, try spinning the ball to yourself (if you don't have a spotter) and catching and shooting. even if you have to, do it moving to the side you spin ball. how ever you feel more cumfertable. that's how I got over that habit. and even better if your a 'has been' cause' if you can stroke that shot, after a while you'll see how many guys you get in the air. trust me, from one 'has been' to another.

I do that drill and it works when I'm shooting on my own. I obviously don't do it enough because when I get to the games I fall right back on my bad habit. I'm pathetic :)

Our best starting lineup, like it or not, will be:

Nate
Crawford
Chandler
Zach
Lee

They're going nowhere special but that's bound to be the best lineup we got----and---we should have seen it post-ASG-break last season as it is.
