We all know Grunfeld will be gone, but who are the last 2 who will be cut to get the roster down to 15?

IMHO I believe that Malik will get bought out and Mardy Collins will be gone if Steph sticks around. I'm a huge supporter of Steph and really believe that he will stick around long enough to get his value up so he can get one more decent sized NBA contract.

no brainer to me... you cut Mardy outright. If Houston holds up physically he gets Roberson's spot.
That leaves you with:
Wilson Chandler
Jamal Crawford
Eddy Curry
Chris Duhon
Patrick Ewing
Danilo Gallinari
Allan Houston
Jerome James
Jared Jeffries
David Lee
Stephon Marbury
Zach Randolph
Quentin Richardson
Nate Robinson
Malik Rose

Despite Steph being in the way of Nate, I think he'll be here, cuz he's just too talented. Nate is young and can survive one more year with Steph in his way. He was going to be coming off the bench anyway. Grunfeld is definitely one guy, I think they want to keep P Jr. to develop him. I'd have to say that it's possible they might let Mardy go and buy out Malik. Malik has no shot at playing so why let him take up a roster spot?

Roberson and Mardy are extras. How will they ever play with Craw, nate, Marbs, duhon and Houston? They are also the cheapest contracts.

Junior has to stay cuz he's balls out defensively and athletic. Malik is a nice contract pawn for anyone that may become available later in the year.

Its a done deal.

Grunfeld is history. Best believe Mardy is gone as well. Roberson is not going anywhere because they paid extra just to get him out of his Euro contract. Houston and Ewing Jr. will make it because the 90's Knicks Era immortalized those last names. Malik is a goner because he is old and ineffective so no one would trade for him and he is a cheaper buy-out than Marbury. So there you go, Grunfeld, Mardy, and Rose.

Teams need third PG's. Im surprised that Charlotte hasnt offered a second rounder for Collins. He's a very good defnsive player from Philly--right up LBs alley.

It's funny that everyone is saying Mardy when all reports are that he is having a better camp than both Roberson and Duhon. Oh well, I glad it's not about contracts and money anymore in this new regime. Duhon can't even run a pick and roll effectively. How the hell didn't a coach know that before he ask for him. Marcus Banks part II.

Duhon is not even remotely like Marcus Banks. And Mardy sucks.

You think there going to keep Pat Jr because of Pat sr, a who ( from what i hear) doesn't play a leak of offense ( which sounds wierd in itself)

What we want and what Dolan is willing to sign off on are two different things.
Remember, Dolan has recently been rumored to be tired of buying out contracts.

We have 15 guaranteed players.

We dropped Fred Jones and Randolph Morris.
We added Roberson and Gallo.

Allan Houston, Patrick Ewing Jr, and Dan Grunfeld ---- all three as far as I know -- are non-guaranteed contracts.

Therefore, unless one of them out play existing players at specific positions, those are your three cuts.

I know there's some uncertainty regarding Ewing - whether or not he was fully guaranteed prior to being traded to Houston then New York --- and also Allan Houston's has not been declared.

So I'm not positive here as to who is and is not guaranteed.

I do know that if a cut is coming it won't be a 7.6M salary (malik) instead it would likely be a <1M salary.

Or maybe, as some have suggested, Mardy might be moved like Balkman was.

They'll try to trade Mardy for a pick as opposed to waiving him. PJ probably makes it but I doubt we ever really see him in a uniform this year. Roberson makes it over Houston. Grunfeld is camp fodder. I don't know what happens to Malik. They might keep him if they put Al upstairs.

Malik is not made for this system, personally I think we should rid ourselves of James, Malik and Roberson(never liked this pick up too much of a chucker)

Collins will not get waived.

If PJ makes it, which I think he will. then thats 15.

you have to cut someone to make room for Houston. and cut someone else to make room for Roberson.

I dont think it helps H20 that he keeps sitting out.

Doesnt look like they will waive Jerome.

Do you remove locker room guy who is sick of it (Malik) in exchange for locker room guy who is excited (Houston) ?

I just don't see how Roberson can make this team, Allan is much more valuable than he is imo. UNless they waive Malik AND Jerome.. doubtful cuz then u have basically no big men

I need to list the probables to count (I know that sounds bad)

Marbury
Crawford
Richardson
Lee
Randolph
Curry
Robinson
Jefferies
Chandler
Duhon
James
Gallinari
Collins
Houston
Roberson

Rose and Grunfeld will get waive. Not a big impact from what I can tell unless I am missing someone.

Mardy is calling last year a lost season because of injury. If you believe what you read, Mardy's playin his butt off and surprising D'antoni.

I wanna keep Mardy, Allan, and Ewing. All of em have a reason to be grateful to ths Knicks and want to stick through not playing.

Roberson and Rose need to go. But i wouldn't be surprised to see Allan moving upstairs and Roberson sticking. Just cut our losses with Malik already. I dont want to keep him around as trade bait because we'd be getting back a player with a longer deal and have to try and trade his ass next year to make troom for our new guys. Let's end this cycle where we are forced to waste a spot on a useless vet in expense of taking a flyer on a young kid.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.
