Basically lampe will sign a 3 year deal for about 1 mil per year, and the 3 years will give him his bird rights thus having the knicks avoid another gilbert arenas scenario. Lampe will pay in installments to real Madrid about 1 mil and the knicks will contribute 350K.
Real Madrid will also have rights to first refusal if Lampe ever decided to return to europe to play ball..

Layden has just turned the corner boys and it's all down hill after this signing.I doubt if we hear anymore blunders on his account, even though he has made many. When he makes another blunder this yr HOLLA.

Ps The spree for Vanhorn deal was not a blunder he couldn't help this team by staying plus we already had a 2 guard getting paid top dollarz.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Your right Playa he seems to have turned the corner. Now can he get Vujanic here. He still has 3.8 million of the exception left. Is it possible to get him here now instead of two or three years from now. Working his buyout is gonna be SOB.

Milos just signed his contract overseas...he is not going to be here for another year. If he wanted to play in NY this year he wouldn't have signed with another team.

Layden is still turning around the bend....he hasn't made it yet. He needs to get rid of some of the fwds on the team for either a good center or some draft picks or something of worth, then and only then will even get a SHRED of credit. He's still Laydumb, Laydown, and Layoff to me.

And playa, before you even think of replying, don't, because you won't convince me otherwise. You are too trusting for your own good.

LayDown can turn the corner, as long as the road is AWAY from MSG. Signing Lampe will be the high note of Scott LayDown's Knick Career (if Lampe turns out for real in against NBA comp. The McDyess bust and the KVH trade will be the low(est) ones that will eventually get him chopped.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Yay. Lampe has all but been officially secured. I can't wait to see what he can do in pre-season. He could be a dark horse ROY candidate. It's kind of ironic that we'll have secured our "Nowitzki clone" while Milicic is having all sorts of problems.

I think the Knicks should be thrilled that they convinced Lampe that he'd be part of the long term future of the team. For 2nd round picks, those 2-year contracts make a lot of sense if they want to make the big money quick. The Knicks must have given him a nice handshake agreement that if he keeps improving at the rate he has, he'll be assured a sweet deal after 3 seasons.

Regarding Vujanic, from a financial and development standpoint, it really made more sense for him to sign in Europe. With the Knicks drafting FW and Vujanic at the same time, he probably figured there was only enough room to get one of them PT. They both have decent size for PGs, so I suppose they both have the potential to become combo guards. The trade of Sprewell kind of opens up the backcourt a little bit. It still remains to be seen what happens w/ Ward. We don't have too much time left to trade him (if that's the direction we want to go).

Why is it that you are saying time is running out on trading Ward (techno)
I had my heart set on dumping the dullest PG in the league.

If Layden wants to keep his job (meaning if he want the Knicks to make the playoffs), he'll have to trade for a solid starting center, someone better than KT and Doleac. Even though they want Lampe to become a center, he's got a way to go. He'll be able to play forward much sooner than center.

But, truth is, the East is so bad they could get in the first round with this team. NJ, DET are the best East teams. After that, Indy, ORL, NO - none of whom are very consistent. After that, what do you have - Boston and Philly are mediocre teams at best, and besides their best players (Pierce and AI), they're not much. That still leaves a slot open. It's between WAS, CHI (they'll get better this year, again), and NYC. Maybe TOR snaps back with Vince healthy, but I don't see much going on there. Really, the Knicks are bland as a team can be, but have just as much a chance at playoffs (thus making Dolan happy) as any of these other scrub teams.

That's the sad state of the Eastern Conference. If you can get to .500, you can make playoff money.

Anybody find it weird that this has not yet been reported in the US?

This is great news though (If it is true!)

If we don't get a Center anytime soon, I would like to see Lampe in the lineup with KT. Have KT and Lampe play center on defense depending on the matchup. If we are playing a tall non-physical center/PF like Tim Duncan, Nesterovic or LaFrentz we sick Lampe on them. For earth moving centers like Shaq...ummm...like Shaq we use KT. Also, for physical centers/PF we use KT.

Chaney needs to force feed this kid.

PF-KT
SF-KVH
SG-Houston
PG-Eisley/Ward

Bench-Anderson, F Williams, Sweetney, Spoon, Doleac, Knight

Lampe confirms signing contract. The knicks have option on the fourth year and it is worth more than the 3 years 3.2 million.

He is due in NY today or tommarrow to finalize the deal and return to Poland to practice with the national team.
