Ok...hey everyone...first post...hope it isn't too long.

I had the chance to go to both practices today (Wed)….my random thoughts (for what they are worth)
*Nate looks great…he certainly seems like he will flourish in this system…what an athlete!!! One Nate story from today…at one point of practice he was trying to tell Houston a joke…Houston told him to be quiet and pay attention to the coaches…Nate then went out and hit a 3pt, got a steal, and made the hoop…another reason to keep Houston!!!!!
*Marbury was clearly the best player on the floor…I was shocked at how obvious this seemed…I guess I always knew this fact, but seeing it live today was eye-opening…but then again so was Marbury’s whole day….for most of the day he sat alone, and didn’t talk to anyone. It seems that Jerome James is the one guy who he has a real relationship with….Marbury sat out the last 30 minutes of the 5 on 5 at practice because his Starbury tore apart (plenty of people made fun of him for that) and he apparently didn’t like the other pair of shoes the equipment guy brought him…it was quite a scene…funny and sickening at the same time…for all his dominance on the court…I still left convinced that he has to go…but I also think he is going to have a monster year for someone.
*Jeffries looked very good…I think he fits this system well and he looks to be slotted in to the rotation
*James worked pretty hard…seems like a funny guy…at one point he went down the lane to throw one down…instead he got stuffed by the rim….it was a riot…even Marbury was doubled over laughing.
*Ewing was the first guy shooting and the last guy off the court…one great finish in transition…looked a little confused in the offense…but they have to keep him.
*Lee, Q-Rich, Craw….all worked hard and looked solid
*Can’t help but be impressed by Rose’s professionalism…
*Duhon struggled…hope it iis the learning curve
*watched Gallo hit a number of 3s after practice…very smooth
*I thought Mardy looked good..strong…one tremendous finish in the lane
*Would have liked to see more from Chandler
*Houston is an incredible shooter…he was doing a shooting drill with Roberson and Marbury…there were two balls and people would shoot until they missed and then rotated…Houston barely missed…at one point he must have made 12-15 in a row….in the 5 on 5 he made a couple nice hoops…one of his 3s had Q yelling “H2O for threeeeeeeeeeeeee”…didn’t notice him too much on D…which is good
*loved D’Antoni’s style…he was laidback, yet direct…and seemed funny (people were laughing at what he said in the huddle)….great to watch him…
Well…just my random thoughts for the day…it was a blast…this team might not win a lot of games…but Knicks’ fans should feel confident that this organization is going in the right direction.

Marbury and Jerome James hanging together. That doesn't surprise me.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Marbury best player on the floor? Duhon struggling? Sounds like Marbury might not be going anywhere

I was thinking that when Walsh said this summer Marbury still had game in him. Duhon is not that good to begin with. The Knicks were the only team running to giving Duhon that contract.

This seems to support what Isola reported earlier. Thanks. I think that was the main reason why Walsh and D'Antoni wanted Marbury gone before camp because everyone knows that he is still the best player on this team. His mental challenges have always held him back but you don't get 20 and 8 by luck. I read where someone else say that Duhon has looked like a ok backup and that's it, so far. Good to hear that Malik is indeed still alive and still being the professional that he has been his entire career. I think when it all said and done Mardy will make Walsh and D'Antoni look foolish for Roberson and Duhon signings.

There may be a thaw with some teammates, but the overall forecast for Marbury's future with the team remains cloudy with a chance of waivers. Mike D'Antoni in one breath praised Chris Duhon, who was brought in to take over the point guard role, by saying, "I think we got a steal." In another breath he candidly admitted an inquiry about Marbury's game being perfectly suited for D'Antoni's style was "a loaded question" and he continued with a measured, noncommittal reply.

"I just know he's a really, really good player," D'Antoni said. "Like I said before, if you're doing everything right and you're playing hard and you're really good, how can you not be a contributor and someone important on the team? I think we're leaving it there right now.

"We'll see how it evolves," D'Antoni continued. "I'm sure everybody's waiting on pins and needles; he probably is, too, and all the players. But we're going to pick the best team and go with it."

Thus far D'Antoni has exclusively used Duhon next to starting shooting guard Jamal Crawford in the five-on-five sets. Though it is very early in the process, it seems evident that D'Antoni likes that tandem for his backcourt. Marbury has been very strong on the opposite team along with Nate Robinson. There is no question that Marbury -- like just about all of the players on the court -- showed up at camp in terrific shape.

Awesome first post. I appreciate your contribution.

Can I ask how you were able to witness these practices? Are you a male or female?

Hey man, welcome. Awesome report you gave us! I won't even ask how you got into practice

Maybe I'm naive or something but I'm really liking the reports of the professionalism that D'Antoni is bringing to this team. It sounds like he's demanding a little something out of the players, which is refreshing for once. I also like the fact that it seems like the players are happy to know they have a true identity as a team and that's a first step towards building something, so that's good.

I also want to say that I was the by the far the biggest supporter of the Jared Jeffries signing on this site and I've taken a lot of crap for it (and rightfully so) but I will say this. Back when he was signed, I said it was going to be a good signing because it looked like Isiah wanted to play a style similar to the Suns and that Jeffries would excel in that style, because it was the same style that got him drafted so high in college. Back at Indiana Jeffries was very good in this style of basketball, alot of cutting, alot of quick shots and this is what he excells at and this is the exact kind of system he'll be playing this year and I honestly think he's going to have a good year. I'm talkin 9pts/6rebs.

Mardy is not good. It's easy to look good in practice. For the most part Mardy did not really look solid in summer league. The Knicks want to run and shoot. Those two reasons alone are the reasons why Mardy is not need. Mardy is a point guard who's handle is shaky plus he can't shoot.

If anything the backcourt rotation will look like

Marbury/Duhon
Crawford/Nate

Roberson will not get pt unless there are blowouts.

Meanwhile 90% of the board wants to cut him and eat 21 million dollars in his last year of the contract. Reality fellas, let's live in reality...

A passing PG is not gonna look as impressive as Steph but that's not the point. The idea is to have the ball spread around and keep everyone involved and hot. It sounds to me like MDA is looking at the long term success of the team and not how impressive a guy looks getting his own offense. We all know Steph is a former All Star offensive force and Duhon is not.

Dude, Jeffries sucks. Quick shots? Dude shoots airballs, or the side of the backboard. Gimme a break.

And in response to "Nixluva"...I appreciate what you are saying about what type of PG would look more impressive...but I thought that Duhon struggled to get people the ball in the right spots...he didn't seem to be on the same page as the others...but I understand he is new and just starting to play with these guys.
Marbury did a great job of getting people involved...more assists than points...but many many other issues...

What qualifies someone as a passing pg? If you keep saying enough times? You must be confused but D'Antoni is the head coach and he was running his system. Do you think he was running half court drills to let Marbury shine while Duhon was given a different set of plays to run? The 5 on 5 is head to head. Either you can play or you can't as well as someone else. Wake me up when Duhon averages anything close to 8 assist a game. The guy was so solid at the position that Bulls took Derrick Rose and said "bye" to Duhon. The fact Paxson was thinking about how he could land a Beasley and get Augustine in the same draft told me all I need to know about what they thought of Duhon.

Even before getting Rose Duhon was getting put in the doghouse to play Larry Hughes. The Bulls had made up their mind about Duhon before the season even ended.
