After McCain picking this Palin chic, I seriously cannot understand anyone that would vote for this guy. Just watching the republican convention. I didn't hear anything but gibberish. Yeah it was a pep rally, but it was a joke how they danced around words and such just to get applause. This palin woman? Anyone see her on abc? Seriously. She came off to me as a retarded mofo. Like she is just a ignorant person. Low class. She seemed angry and downright bitchy. Some things she seriously couldn't answer and even when she did answer she just kinda danced around to where you aren't even sure if she answered the question. Also, lets face it she was picked to get the Hilary votes. It sickens me to the core that there are people out there that can't see that. It sickens me also that women will vote for McCain on the strength of Palin being a woman. Total retardation.
If you wanna talk about sheer intelligence? How could you not vote for Obama? This guy Biden is a strong vice president as well. He's pretty smart himself and seeing them talk individually and seeing them together just oozes strength. "Change"? I believe these guys will get as close to "change" as we have ever saw it. I'm not a political guy and I absolutely hate the jargin associated with it, but as far as leadership, compassion, and willingness to do the right thing by the people of this country? Obama and Biden are not perfect but they are very close to the way I feel this country should go. When was the last time that you had a president and vice president that just straight up impressed you and made you proud to be in this country? Clinton was the man but at the time many thought al gore was borderline retarded. You have to go back to the 60's to find a more impressive or at least equally impressive tandem......its a damn shame.
Wake up for those that are againt voting simply because "I'm a republican" or one of those retards that say "oh this country isn't ready for a black president". Its bull**** and pure ignorance. Obama is impressive with his words and sheer poise he possesses. About being black? He was raised by his white grandparents, and even spent time in hawaii. Ok so its not like the guy grew up in compton, D.C., Philly or harlem or even Chi-town for that matter. He is a man though that's for certain.
Some people will vote for Palin on the strength of her being a woman. Some people will vote for Obama simply because he is Black. I think both sides will have superficial voters. As far as people voting Republican and saying "I am a Republican", well I think that speaks for itself. Different people have fundamental differences in what they believe, and I think thats what will decide their votes. I mean, should I really vote for Obama simply because he is "smart"? Even tho he doesnt represent any of my values or opinions, even tho he has a similar amount of experience as the admittedly underqualified Palin?
The problem with debating politics is that people fail to realize that people are just different. Its okay to have different views and opinions. Yet so many people of all political affiliations act as if people who disagree with them are stupid, uninformed, unelightend, racist, sexist, elitist, etc. It annoys me when I talk to someone and they act is if I only knew where the candidates stand on the issues then I would support Obama. Then if you tell them where you stand on the issues, they tell you if you only knew the facts then you wouldnt feel that way. People act as if you just need to be educated. Give me a break.
I will NEVER support a candidate like Obama. Im pro life, pro Iraq war, pro lower taxes for everybody, pro stop giving my money to other people. Barry Obama will never represent a person like me, no matter how smart they guy is.
I'm pro Obama but I agree with you. It's so easy for people to dismiss another person's values and belief system by simply saying that are stupid or ignorant, instead of thinking maybe they just come from a different point of view. IT's just an easy way to dismiss the other point of view and erase any chance for real debate. It also prevents a person from truly examining their own beliefs and the things they believe in. If you go back and read this thread it truly has more generalizations about groups of people than any thread in the history of the internet(well maybe not, but it has a lot of them). Some people scream for everyone to be open minded and yet they can't see how closed their own are. Both parties have scr-ewed us, and both parties have done well for us. I can understand a leaning one way or another. I can understand a strong belief in one direction. But the sheer vitriol and borderline hatred towards someone that thinks differently has to be representative of something else.
I tend to lie in the middle with a Liberal leaning. I think the Republicans have taken the poor and minorities for granted. They have assumed they will not get these votes and have simply ignored groups that need help, going with the notion that if you just leave it alone, all is equal. I understand the premise, but I do not think it works. I think the Democrats have a more balanced view of the economy, their policies truly provide a boost for those starting a step behind. That being said, the far left influence scares me as much as the far right. In this political season I've talked to a lot of people with far more knowledge and intelligence than I will ever have. With a much greater grasp of the issues than I do as well. But even they, don't realize how far they have drifted away from Capitalism and into the Socialist(and some dare say Communist) point of view. Is this a trend, or has it always been this way? Worldwide there is a trend towards Capitalism from most Socialist nations and a movement towards Socialism in most Capitalist nations. Movement is inevitable and not necessarily a bad thing. But some people have really drifted and I'm not sure they even realize it. Being relatively new to the world of politics, I don't know if US politics are always this way or if this is something new
I just hope that people will like me
