The team was bad cause we had no coach to impliment a system that would allow the players to use their strengths. I am not saying we are gonna be good , but at least we got a plan now and it will be interesting to see how our guys execute it. If they execute it, and if not it will be interesting to see ppl get playing time based on their play rather than what we had last season imo

BRIGGS - I would rather we wait than sell low and be in a deeper hole for the next couple of years. I want to see what D'Antoni can do with these guys. I want to see Duhon, Nate, Crawford, The Mayor, Gallo, DLee and the rest play D'Antoni's style. Also, maybe the reason they did not want to get rid of Randolph right away is because he would be perfect for this system anyways where you need to shoot in 7 seconds or less. One thing ZBo can do is shoot and rebound.

Even though I have only been around here for a short time, I know enough to say that this is a very predictable thread from you, and one not unlike many others you have started.

You don't want to be compared to "Jerome," the Yankee fan who calls up WFAN and rants all the time, do you?

I was a fan when the Knicks won their 2 titles. Maybe I feel differently because I got to see those teams, but it has been 35 years since I saw a Knicks title.

Prior Knicks management has put the team in a position where it will take more than a few months to put us on the right track. As a fan you can only hope that your team has a plan. I am not sure Walsh & Co. could have done anything else with the cards that Isiah dealt them. Walsh did get us one of the more successful and respected coaches in the league. Walsh is putting us in a position to have the cap space to do a Boston Celtics and pull off a quick turnaround in 2010, but for now, change will be gradual.

Do you really think Duhon is the PG of the future? He is just a temp, until the right guy comes along. Some guys will be traded over the next year or two, hopefully sooner than later, and yes, we will probably be looking at another lottery pick, but right now we really don't have the ability to pick up players you might be pleased with because of our cap problems.

Everyone knows that you did not want Gallinari, but Walsh did not have the use of your talent evaluation skills when making the pick. Deals were discussed on draft night, but they fell through. So he "settled" for a 19 yr old 6'10" point forward with one of the top jump shots in the draft, who from age 17 had been playing against men and leading men, in a league of man.

All you can do now is watch Gallinari and Chandler develop, and see how our vets, Duhon, and anyone else we pick up, fit into D'Antoni's system. In 2+ years at least 50% of the guys on this team will be gone, and our cap space will allow us to sign the people we can't sign now.

Lets just see how things go. You'll have the whole season to rant and rave.

No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities- C.N. Bovee

98-99 Denver Nuggets 14 wins and 36 losses
03-04 Phoenix Suns 21 wins and 40 losses
04-05 Phoenix Suns 62 wins and 20 losses
05-06 Phoenix Suns 54 wins and 28 losses
06-07 Phoenix Suns 61 wins and 21 losses
07-08 Phoenix Suns 55 wins and 27 losses

Steve Nash was acquired as a free agent for the 04-05 NBA season.
True or False SAT question, Mike D'Antoni cannot win without Steve Nash.

Isiah's biggest mistake was constantly selling low and revamping the roster every 3 months. We knew it was wrong and cried about it for 3 years. Now that our new GM is not doing that, we are crying about that.
I just hope that people will like me

I wouldve taken Jerryd Bayless at pick 6 and used every asset I had including Lee Nate cash to grab that Pacer or Portland pick to acquire Anthony Randolph. Chris Duhon would NOT be here and Zach Randolp would be gone.

Who knows but they are certainly retreads. I guess they wouldnt have liked my 500 posts on why we should take Andrew Bynum. When you haev a strong opinion--you get chastized--but my opinions/suggestions have been 100* better than anyone paid by the Knicks organization in the last 7 years. My guess is we will still be here talking about why we sck for the next 6 years--why did they hire a guy who was to old and was falling into deep failure at Indiana before coming over to run the team---why did they hire a coach that doesnt fit--why did they just hire a GM that has the worst draft history of any GM in the history of the nBA who was kicked out of Orlando and Portland. SOS
They are just backing themselves into a corner with this cap thing as well

What this could also show is that when he finds a PG smart enough and skilled enough to run HIS offensive system, he can win big. You really can't give all the credit to Nash, cuz he wasn't even retained by the Mavs. If they knew Nash would become the MVP Nash he did under Mike, they wouldn't have let him go. Nash even admits that he gained a lot from Mike and you can see that Nash improved immensely under Mike. Before that he wasn't considered the best PG in the NBA, so let's at least give Mike some credit for helping Nash reach his full potential.

Just imagine if Mike can do that for our players!!!! Even tho the team isn't what it will be, we can look forward to some gradual improvement and a much clearer picture of just what we already have. Who should stay and who should go. We don't know just how good some of these players really are and now maybe we'll find out.

I have similar thoughts. I still waiting to see if D'Antoni survives here 4 years. Like I said before, I wouldn't be surprise if he is on the Bulls sideline in 2010 while Donnie is talking about retirement. And of course, Knick fans are left to discover, that Lebron, Kobe, D-Wade and the likes are quite happy where they are already at, thank you very much. The cries will be how can the Knicks get a Bayless, Randolph, etc.

I think the Knicks plan is more substantial than just waiting and hoping for 2010. they never said anything about not continuing to improve the team as they also work toward cap space.

Good points. Although, I reference you back to his two seasons without Steve Nash, why wasn't he able to have winning seasons? Also, keep in mind that the Mavs wanted to retain Nash but was surprised how much money Phoenix gave him and he was not a restricted free agent.

Well see, Walsh did say he will not do anything to hurt his goal of 2010 meaning he will not bring back more salary. Isn't that why everyone is saying chill out about the Duhon signing. This is similar to the Isiah, we got to rebuild on the fly and get creative because we are already over the salary cap speeches. The thing is what really is the plan. I know everyone keeps saying wow, the Knicks have a plan in place but do they really. Also, how much independence does Donnie really have. I mean if the lights continue to stay out in April and May at MSG, do you really believe he is going to just stick by Donnie's side. This ain't Indiana. D'Antoni felt a little pressure from Kerr and he couldn't stand it. I would like to see how he reacts to Dolan's input.
