Early talks are that its a 4th round pick that will go as a high as 2nd round pick based on performance.

Why are the jets so aggressive with players that are dramatically passed their prime? ...Boomer, Art Monk, Brian Cox, ext...but so timid when it comes to the draft --- passed on Jerry Rice, Marino, Emmitt Smith.

This is your worst organization in sports, outside of a couple of Parcell led teams, this team has been misery since Joe Willy. Defines inept.

This guy is going to be 39 in December. SMH. Mays in Shea

QB is different in terms of age in NFL. Brett Farve was second best player in the league last year and hasnt missed one game in 14 years.

39 is 39, bro.

Farve has been on a downward spiral for the past few years until his perfect storm of luck in '07. Lightening isnt striking twice and his age is bound to catch up to him and what better place for that then in than in NY?

Pathetic PR move by the Jets.

No way. Favre still has a rifle. The guy who has been on the way down is Pennigton. He cant throw the ball 25 yards down the field. Clemens is a pure back up. What an upgrade. My bet is the owner came in on this one as well with the new stadium but it was the right move for the franchise. We have to try to win now.

Holy.... Does this means he just walks in and starts? You have to figure that you are not going to trade for a 12M QB if he is not starting.

Just reminds us that all sports is a business, and loyalty has no place in the game anymore. I had problems with Pennington, but he's been a trooper and given us good moments, despite some terribly bad luck. (Hard to believe that a few years ago (6) in a do or die game, Pennington led the 8-7 Jets who humbled the then 12-3 Packers in the final game of the season to squeeze into the playoffs, and then went on to destroy Payton Manning's Colts in the Wild Card game.) Indication is that Pennington will probably be gone because of his 6M contract. The Post indicated that Mangini had given Favre the sales pitch about coming to NY. (Will Mangini be able to look Pennington in the eyes anymore?)

Would this mean that they still think Clemens will eventually be a starter after Favre is gone? How many more years can Favre go? Two?

What a turnaround, even before the first pre-season game.

I can't believe he would wanna do something like this. He's gonna play in NY @ 39 with the spotlight on his ass.

Hell man, its great for NY. Farve is gonna draw crowds.....I for one will be trying toi get to a jet game this season just to see the guy live. He's a superhero, a living legend....and he's still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

All the loser Jet fans are gonna have that after glow look and stupid douche bag grin all winter now.....can't wait to hear the jokers at work.

I feel you on Nerf ball arm Chad, but Farve is the answer? I think you guys are getting way more excited for this than warranted.

A 4th which may, based on performance, turn out to be a 2nd isn't unfair. I'm usually against signing older players, but Favre is coming off a very good year. I'm a Giants fan, but good luck to the Jets.

I thought the jets made some bad moves in the off season spending all the money they did.

The fact is, they did not have a QB. My 2 year old daughter has a better arm than Chad. The QB is supposed to be able to throw the ball. He got by on being very smart & a solid decision maker, but face it, the defense against the jets has been stacked in the first 10 yards because Chad can't beat them long.

Kellens might not be in the league in a year. So he isn't the answer either.

Favre isn't a long term solution, but the jets don't have one.

And their short term solutions (Chad vs. Kellens) isn't that great either.

If Favre can be patient, then he can probably reproduce the year he had last year.

This opens up the running game and changes the way opponents are going to have to defend against the jets.

It makes the Jets a contender! ! !

And it sells T I C K E T S ! ! !
And cable.....and takes away from the Giants hold on the sports media as Super Bowl Champs!
Bad for the Giants media - wise.....my Team.

It is a great move for the Jets! my sort of 2nd team.

Oh man, as if I hadn't heard enough about Favre, and now he will be covered by the New York media. Can you say all Brett, all the time.
I just hope that people will like me

It's all about entertainment bro.

The only thing you worry about with an older QB is his legs and Favre has good legs. Heck there are younger QB's who can't run with him. This is a great move for all long suffering Jet Fans. All these years it's been the Knicks and Jets killing me year in and year out. I think this is a move well worth the small risk.

The Jets front office has made the moves to get them into contention and I hope and pray that the Knicks will do the same.

Anyone that has a problem with this trade doesn't know football. This is a NO risk trade. At worst we give up a 4th rnd pick. At best if we make it to the super bowl we give up a #1 which at that point is like a #2 pick. Pennington sucked-you can't win football games throwing the ball 10 yards a play. This trade makes the Jets a relevant football team .I don't care about the PR move , it makes them a legitimate football team. Every Sunday they have a real QB able to play against any team. This is not a trade of an over-the-hill player, this guy can still play and has a gun for an arm. The only risk is making this move so late towards the season but the Jets had no choice.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate
