The NBA will release the upcoming NBA schedule today, according to a report by The Oklahoman.

Oklahoma City, still without a nickname, is destined to open at home against an Eastern Conference team, with Indiana or Milwaukee the most probable opponent.

Kobe Bryant and the Western Conference champion Los Angeles Lakers are scheduled to come to visit Oklahoma City on Feb. 24. The Lakers will return in March.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, a Northwest Division opponent, will be the second team to visit Oklahoma City on Nov. 2. The Atlanta Hawks are scheduled on Nov. 9.

The one thing for the game picker- I wish I could make all my picks for the season - it would be interesting to aggregate the results & show what the board as a whole thinks in terms of the season.

I know my perception is going to change once the season starts, but not much has changed as far as the roster - at best, its a 40 win team.

I think this is an easier schedule than in years past- we've usually had 5 game west coast swings that we would go 1 & 4 on - worst road trip is this section in January

Tue. 6-Jan-09 @ Oklahoma
Thu. 8-Jan-09 @ Dallas
Sat. 10-Jan-09 @ Houston
Mon. 12-Jan-09 @ New Orleans

And there are no back to backs in this stretch.

This is going to be tough. I hope D'Antoni has some tricks up his sleeve.

I can't remember the last time we got 2 home games to start a season. it's almost like the NBA gifted the Knicks with a easier shcedule after the pretty rough schedules the last 3 years. This is at least a decent start that should lead to a few wins to get their confidence up. 8 home and 6 road is a nice break.

Last year we had CLE on the road and then we came home to win vs MIN & DEN. The problem is we then lost 8 in a row!!! That included a 4 game western road trip. With nothing like that this year we at least have a shot to do better in the 1st month.

the rough part is that we play Utah, SA, DAL, BOS, CLE, DET and GSW in that 1st month Still if they can manage to get some of the easier games they will get off to a better start than we've seen in a while.

I know San Antonio has had slow starts- and it would be nice to think Boston might be coming off their big high and they might start the season slow.

Only problem, is, for whatever reason, our mental midgets start the season slow too.

Unlike good teams, we finish slow too!

mid November to mid-December is our toughest month IMHO.

Sun. 16-Nov-08 Dallas 6:00 PM
Tue. 18-Nov-08 @ Boston 7:30 PM
Fri. 21-Nov-08 @ Milwaukee 7:30 PM
Sat. 22-Nov-08 Washington 7:30 PM
Tue. 25-Nov-08 Cleveland 7:30 PM
Wed. 26-Nov-08 @ Detroit 8:00 PM
Sat. 29-Nov-08 Golden State 7:30 PM
Tue. 2-Dec-08 Portland 7:30 PM
Wed. 3-Dec-08 @ Cleveland 7:00 PM
Fri. 5-Dec-08 @ Atlanta 7:30 PM
Sun. 7-Dec-08 Detroit 12:00 PM

are we going 2 - 9 during this stretch.

Of course, I'd rather have this stretch at the beginning of the season so that we can throw Zach and/or Curry away for a big Mac and Coke, and start the real rebuilding.

We shoiuld finally see a guy like Chan get to play the minutes he should play. Mike has been here before with PHX in his 1st year. He didn't win a lot but he played his kids and installed his system. We've got players that can do some things if they're led in the right way. That includes playing the right combinations of guys.

I think the style of play will be much better suited for the guys we have. Whenever we played better it was when we had our kids in there and we weren't playing slow and plodding halfcourt ball. I hope to see a more high energy team too. If we can just get our bigs in REAL SHAPE for a more uptempo game. I'm positive that Mike will play guys that can pass, shoot and finish.

Who knows how well they'll play defensively, but I don't expect them to be as bad as previous years. Adding Duhon has been bashed by some, but in terms of committing fewer TO's and playing better D at the top, it was a good move. Part of a good D is having Low TO's. We are one of the worst TO teams almost every year. An in shape Q and more Chan will also help. Zach and Curry are still weak spots tho.

Lets be real- the only shape our 'BIGs' can ever be in is 'Round'!

D said he the reason he went small is he was playing his best five guys.

How will he define our best five? The best five for playing team oriented ball in his system? or the five guys that have the most individual talent, but don't necessarily fit together?

I have a hard time believing Zach & Curry can ever work on the court at the same time. I hope he proves me wrong.

I suspect the best five should be Zach, Lee, Chandler, Crawford and Duhon. Where does that leave Curry? Can he accept being a back up?

I think that crushes his ego & he might never recover, becoming the second coming of Oliver Miller.

Do you Start Curry & Zach? That unit last year just got off to a lot of slow starts.

The thing is that Mike doesn't really do the old school stand around and throw it in the post thing. This is a HUGE difference from how Isiah was doing things. Curry can actually play very well if he's not the initial focus of the offense. You just need a PG and team oriented players who will look to set him up for easy buckets.

We won't see the same lack of vision that Isiah showed last year. He was clueless as to how to use the players he had. Mike won't likely do the same things with the same players and this is the thing that I see as a reason we can expect to see some different things from these players. A Mike D'Antoni run team just does things differently. We've all see what his style is and I believe even a guy like Curry can play well in it.

In the NBA without Steve Nash including his time in Denver Dantoni has one of the worst all-time records in basketball history. While you have to give him credit for acheiving great success WITH steve nash---he has a LOT to proof WITHOUT nash.

nash was already an all star type pg before getting to pheonix. he wasn't MVP level, but i don't think nash has anything to prove anymore...
