With Jerry Reinsdorf and director of player personnel Gar Forman taking a greater role in contract negotiations, Bulls GM John Paxson has been freed up to talk trades with other teams, according to a report by Mike Mcgraw of the Daily Herald.

According to the report, the Bulls have had discussions with Sacramento about center Brad Miller, while guard Larry Hughes has been attracting some interest.

Some options, according to McGraw, include include Portland's Joe Przybilla, New York's Jared Jeffries, Dallas' Erick Dampier or Denver's Kenyon Martin.

the exact quote from the article is this:

The Bulls also have discovered some interest in guard Larry Hughes, as long as they're willing to take a big contract in return. Since the Bulls need to thin out their backcourt, some possibilities could include Portland's Joe Przybilla, New York's Jared Jeffries, Dallas' Erick Dampier or Denver's Kenyon Martin.

---------

aka, pure, 100% unadulterated PURE, writer suggestion. so the bulls are not considering trading for anyone, but mike mcgraw of the daily herald is.

I'd go for that. It saves almost $7m on the cap in 2010.

There is not one sngle player I want less from the Bulls than Hughes. I do not think he fits this system. He can't shoot. His on the ball defense is average at best ad he has no range. I would rather try and get Capt. Kirk for that Malik and Jefferies package. Kirk and a #2 for Malik and Jefferies.

Haven't we done enough business with the Bulls this century?

Seriously, what the hell?

how many quality players have they let go over the years? Not just talking about the Knicks.

Hughes is an uptempo player and had his best season playing with Eddie Jordan in Washington......I can see him and Craw in a starting backcourt playing uptempo.....maybe Hughes can channel that production again.

Aaron gray is a servicable guy and I'd love to have him if the Knicks were to do business again with them.

who cares how he fits or doesn't fit... the key is to get rid of fishlips' contract... Hughes' deal expires a year earlier... it's a no brainer... we ain't getting Kirk Hinrich for that package, come on now.

This would be great but there's no way it happens. Nobody wants Jeffries.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Nobody wants Hughs either at his salary:
2008/09 = $12.8 mil
2009/10 = $13.66 mil
total $26.5 mill over 2 yrs so we dont resign him in 2010

JJ2 =2008 $6.05 mil
2009 $6.47 mil
2010/11 $6.88 mil
Malik Rose 2008/09 = $7.65 mil

to match salaries for this yr ist is $12.8 Chi and $13.7mil Knicks - Close enough
total Knicks salary giving up for 3 yrs = $27.05 mil vs Chi = $26.5 and we lose JJ2 salary for 2010/11 $6.88 mil, to help us get under the cap. Again....very close.

This is a good deal for us and for Chicago. It could get done.

Good point about Hughes playing in an uptempo offense. He put up really good numbers in Washington and never really fit in with Cleveland and their grind-it-out style. Hughes was the number 1 player in the country coming out of highschool and he played very well at the point. He could definitely give us spot duty at the point. Wouldn't mind this trade at all.

I would like this deal, in a uptempo system I think Hugh would be good to very good.
