Newsday's Ken Berger was the first member of the media to report that a trade sending Renaldo Balkman to the Denver Nuggets was in the works. Now that the Balkman deal is final, the paper says Donnie Walsh is working on several additional moves to reshape the Knick roster.

"I know this [Balkman trade] is nickel-and-dime," writes Alan Hahn in The Knicks Fix blog on Newsday.com, "but keep in mind this is just one deal out of several things I'm told Donnie is trying to work on this summer. Some things work out quickly, like this deal, and the bigger contracts (i.e.: Zach Randolph) take time to make happen.

OK, I don't see anywhere where it says any more moves are definite. There are people "working on" trades all the time and nothing happens. Considering the Knicks have some of the worst contracts in the NBA, I wouldn't get your hopes up.

But of course RealGM needs to add that title because anything Knicks-related is placed on the front page, even if it was just "Eddy Curry heard farting while working out in Chicago."

Of course we are making deals, Lee was basically out the door before he broke that trade. I think one or two more knicks(from the offseason, not the throw ins we pick up) could be moved even before Zach and Marbury.

We were one of the worst organizations for the last 7 years and particularly during the past 3. It will take time to reshape this roster.

Yes, but with the Rooster on the Roster in can be reshaped more rapidly.

Arent' these the types of players that rebuilding teams acquire? are any of these guys going to be here long term. Are we rebuilding with these guys as centerpeices or are they stopgaps to fill the current roster?

Wasn't there a time under Layden when we had a bunch of undersized power forwards. Weatherspoon and Othella come to mind but can't recall the others.

It's funny because Walsh does NOT have a history of getting undersized guards. Walsh NEVER that I can remember used small guards.

And D'Antoni only had one real undersized guard in Barbosa. Nash was thin but not small(listed at 6-3?). He used Grant Hill(6-8) and Bell(6-5) primarily as his shooting guards. He also used Joe Johnson(6-8?) as a 2 guard. I think he used James Jones(6-8) there also. Marcus Banks is like 6-3 and he was used as a PG.
