Solid deal for the Knicks. I've never liked Balkman, although I did like his effort, which is something I will always applaud, but when it came down to it, I don't think Balkman was ever going to become a better player.

Atleast we get a pick out of this trade instead of crap player that we'd just cut. This really makes me wonder if there is another deal in the works.

In efforts to improve their defense, the Nuggets have traded for Knicks forward Renaldo Balkman, a source confirmed.

The Nuggets traded seldom-used guards Taurean Green and Bobby Jones, as well as a future second rounder, in exchange for the 6-foot-8 Balkman and $575,000.

Balkman, who turned 24 this month, averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds last season, but is noted for his hustle and aggressive defensive play. Denver hopes Balkman can crack its rotation in the near future.

So we did get Taurean Green out of it? Hes done nothing in this league, but he did win 2 championships at Florida. I wonder if he'll just be cut or did they actually plan on keeping him?

Its Balkman for Green/Jones/2nd rounder. The original story has been updated. Green and Jones will likely be cut so we end up getting rid of a little bit of salary and get a 2nd rounder.

Taureen Grteen=similar version of Roberson. I guess we are building up 6-0 and under 2 guards for midget ball

From MSG:

The New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh announced today that a 2010 second-round draft choice, guard Taurean Green and guard/forward Bobby Jones have been acquired from Denver for forward Renaldo Balkman and cash considerations. The draft pick will be the more favorable selection between the Nuggets and Clippers, resulting from a previous trade.

Green, 6-0, 177-pounds, averaged 1.6 points and 4.4 minutes in 17 games last season for both Portland and Denver. Originally drafted by the Trail Blazers after his junior season at the University of Florida in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft, Green was acquired by the Nuggets on Feb. 21 in exchange for guard Von Wafer. In addition the Fort Lauderdale, FL-native appeared in eight total games in the NBA Development League with the Idaho Stampede and Colorado 14ers.

Jones, 6-7, 215-pounds, averaged 3.8 points and 11.3 minutes in 47 games last season for San Antonio, Miami, Houston, Memphis and Denver. In addition, the Compton, CA-native appeared in fives games in the NBA Development League with the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Originally drafted by Minnesota out of the University of Washington in the second round (37th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, Jones was traded to Philadelphia and appeared in 44 games for the 76ers last season.

Balkman, 6-8, 208-pounds, averaged 3.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in 65 games for New York last season. Originally drafted by the Knicks after his junior season at the University of South Carolina in the first round (20th overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft, the Staten Island-native finishes his career in blue and orange having played in 133 career games, averaging 4.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 15.2 minutes over two seasons.

didn't bobby jones play at washington with nate and Brandon roy? anyway. I wonder what are the benefits to us making this trade? balkman wasn't making a load of money.. anyway. I will miss balk, he is a University of South carolina player, my sister, aunts, uncles all went there, we have a big family connection there.. he was the type of player I enjoyed watching.. good luck in Denver balk, you will fit in and will enjoy the city....

I have to believe that this trade is part of something bigger to come, but we don't know, maybe Donnie is stockpiling picks at the moment.

Taureen Green is more of a pass 1st PG, whereas Roberson is more of a Jannero Pargoinstant O type.

Just another example of Isiah being super overated at drafting, and the fans not seeing what he saw.....

So his two first round picks that everyone thought were fringe nba players, are now fighting to make rosters.

I see no problem with this. He wasn't good enough to play over Chandler and not important enough to develop over Gallo. He had no place on this team, especially since this is a Mike D'Antoni team. He has the worst offensive game on the team, battling Jeffries for that distinction.
