He honestly looks like Horace Grant. I cant believe how much Philidelphia has improved. Thadeus Young is also a stud and if you look at that team they are title contenders IMHO.. Speights is strong athletic with long arms a quick jump and when he stays away from taking 20 footers he's looked awesome--he looks like a top 5 pick.

It is all in his head. If he works hard talent wise he is there. He just need to mature.

That is one good team--you have to give Billy King some credit and the old Nets GM came in and grabbed Elton Brand and stole a draft pick at 15. Shooters Green Young Williams Igudola Smith has a nice mid range shot as does miller. They have athletic scorers all over the place in and out with great defense

When I watched Thaddeus Young in the MCDOONALDS Highschool all-star game I knew this kid was gonna be a star in the association real soon.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

stefanski made that huge korver for giricek deal that opened it all up for brand. philly right now, could overtake detroit in the east. top 4 right now in the east in order: boston, philly, detroit, toronto...

I have to agree with you on Rose, Mayo and Alexander. I've only read about Rose and Alexander but I've seen Mayo play about 3 games and have been pretty dissapointed in him. I loved him in the draft and wanted the Knicks to get him badly. Having watched him in Summer League there are a few negative recurring themes to his game.

1 - he doesn't get to the rim
2 - he settles for and takes tough shots - long range contested jump shots
3 - he is careless with the ball and commits a high # of turnovers
4 - he has not shown a strong ability to get into the paint and make others better
5 - he really does look too short for the 2-guard spot because he doesn't have outstanding athleticism like say a little guy like Nate

Watched Speights last night as was impressed, Randolph I like but his shot and the fact he may not have a set position is a bit of a concern, Hickson looked like a battering ram against the Knicks, haven't seen Chalmers, Dorsey or Lee but heard good things about each.

I think the biggest steal right now may be Jerryd Bayless - I was so so on Bayless but having watched him twice I am surprised at how tough and aggressive he is. I looked at him as a pretty boy but the kid is so explosive and just assaults the rim with his drives. He spent both games I watched sitting on the foul line because nobody could keep him in front of them. He's not a point but man is he an explosive #2. In fact - based on 2-3 summer league games I'd take Bayless over Mayo as a 2-guard -- mostly because Bayless attacks and is a bonafide stud athlete. Too be honest - I'm rooting for Gallo but damn Bayless would have given us some electricity - even as a small combo guard. Get healthy Rooster and please turn into a stud.

Thaddeus Young could have been our pick if it wasn't for the stupid Curry deal.

I am somewhat dissapointed in rose and mayo, and both were guys i wanted... rose just seems to be lost once he gets in the lane. He is quick enough to get there, but if he is not shooting, he seems lost.. All of this talk about his great court vision was vastly overrated it seems..

Mayo can shoot, but it seems he just can't beat guys off the dribble enough. he will defend and make some shots, but he is not blowing by guys either...

Bayless abd Gordon both have played good[gordon didnt shoot well but that was misleading] the problem is they are both hogs. It all depends how they fit in.

Briggs you see Kevin Love play?

I have only seen box scores but it looks like he is dominating.

Damn - I saw the 18/13 stat line but didn't realize he followed that up with 18/17. Say what you want about the way the kid looks on the floor but he is a player. I think Memphis may have really fudged that trade. Love was perfect for that team and they throw him away along with Miller for another guard. I loved Mayo at draft time but Love would have been perfect off-set to Memphis's young athletes and would compliment Rudy Gay nicely. Now Gay will have to fight Mayo for shots. I could see that duo having some issues short term.

They got Kevin Love and Mike Miller for pick 3--that is probably good as it gets. Kevin Love and Miller compared to just OJ Mayo? This is where teams overrated guys.Kevin Love easily couldve went 3 right?

HEY NY no longer has the worst GM in the game! How sweet is that. Memphis may soon supplant NY at the bottom.

I have only seen the two Knicks games, so I can't analyze most players mentioned on this post.

Some things about Dorsey based on his stats in SL. Dorsey is tough, but he will be 25! in December. He was 0/6 from the line (not unexpected- look at his college career). Looks like teams will be working on a "hackador" defense if he is in a game late. From his line I also saw 6 turnovers and 6 fouls. For a guy who mixes it up in the paint and picks up offensive rebounds, the poor foul shooting will actually make one of his greatest strengths a liability. He could improve his foul shooting but I doubt it will happen at his age, and it is a shame because I expect he will be a very popular player on any team he plays for. If only Curry had his nose for the ball.

I am looking forward to seeing Love when he plays the Knicks- wish he and Gallinari could have played on the same floor. Lots of analysts felt Love was one of the most NBA-ready guys in the draft, but with a questionable upside. How has he done defensively in the SL? Love was one of the players who I would not have been upset about if the Knicks had taken him. Still wonder about the problems that a 6' 7.75" (without his platform sneakers) PF will have in the league. Compared to McHale by some, but McHale was a legit 6'10," at least.

Hickson looks physically ready, and has a decent midrange jumper, at least from what I saw against the Knicks, but the Knicks had no bangers at all going up against him. When up against Houston and Dorsey, his rebounding numbers dropped.

Gallinari gets an incomplete from me, but he looks promising. Defense better than I thought- needs to rebound. Has to get stronger, especially his lower body. Look at Love's lower body compared to Gallinari's. Less mature physically than I was expecting, even though he is not thin. Still a kid.

o brother, now MEM made a huge mistake trading for OJ Mayo when everyone on the forums was talking him up to be a future star... repeat after me guys, Summer League stats don't mean squat.
