They can acquire a contract without having to give one back. Jamal Crawford is a good fit for their system because he can playboth SG and PG at 6-5. It's not a big investment for GS and fits a huge need. We ask for a lottery protected #1 . Don Nelson is in a win now situation and while JC is not Davis he would be a reasonable substitue for the money--3 yrs 30mm$[plus we can throw in 3mm to offset some of the money]----They could start offering guys like Ben G 60mm+ but Crawford @ 30/27mm might be more palatable + it's guaranteed compared to RFA.

Actually their trade exception has expired so they have to give something back but I reckon they will use their capspace for free agents before making trades. Al Harrington might be in play and he expires in 2 yrs.

They're under the cap and now they want Brand!

As they will probably lose out on the Brand sweepstakes, perhaps a package of Crawford & Curry for some scrubs & one or two lotto picks.

If I'm Nellie, I'd grab Craw and Nate to replace Baron for a pick + Biedrens or Pietrus sign and trade.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Do you think Nellie is Knicks fan?

They already offered Arenass a max deal I thought?

Why take on Crawful when you can have a glorified version of Crawful at twice the price? God I love the NBA.

Arenas is better than Craw, but hell, why not get them both if you run that offense?

This is a terrible idea.

No matter how hard we tried to make him one, Crawford is NOT a PG. Terrible fit for GS, especially since they already have a chucker in S.Jackson

What Premium pure PG are they acquiring?
Jamal and Crawford's numbers are quite close ---you dont think Baron is a chucker? He's one of the worst chauckers in the league

i would do this and GSW would probably be interested - but we'd have zero guards then. We can't even sign Duhon, how are we supposed to replace Crawford.

Crawford is going to carry the load here once again - I would be shocked if he were traded.

Not a bad idea. If they miss out on Brand maybe they'll take Zach as a consolation prize. They can take him without giving anything back.

We have Marbury Nate Q Rich Collins you can move Chandler to 2 guard we can part of the MLE left on the pickings. Who cares if Crawford is gone.

D'Antoni might care if Crawford is gone. I don't think they'll trade him. Everything we've heard from the D'Antoni hire is that they don't want to completely tear it down - they're looking to be competitive while being financially conservative.

I think it's a better idea to remain as competitive as possible. No one is going to come here as a FA if the Knicks are still a joke in two years. Additionally, if you're talking about wanting to trade Zach, one of the ways to make that more attractive is to make it a package with Crawford or Lee. I don't think trading Crawford for draft picks is the way to go right now. You could probably get a higher price for him for teams looking for help at the trade deadline in 2009 or 2010.

There's no way they trade him this summer.

I don't think teams see a maximum player in Zach Randolph--I think he would be a nice player for a 3 year MLE in the right situation.

If they are honestly trying for cap space in 2010--trading Crawford in nthis type of deal is a no-brainer whther Dantoni wanted him or not. We are over the cap as is and we have to sign Lee and Nate[which may also be questionable]---if they want any chance at FA--they need to be aggresive about getting rid of players signed into that year.

i think if anything you hold onto Crawford a little while longer to stay competitive and see if you can raise his value.

I don't think his value can get any higher.

Is there much difference between 35 wins and 25 wins? I see only upside to being worse next year.

Sorry Mike D- you're going to have to take one for the team.

And what if Crawford opts out of his contract? We're not going to match, are we? Then, we lose him for nothing.
