it includes calls from kupchak, grunwald, and houston trying to make a 2nd round deal.

looks like the knicks offered next year's 2nd rounder for a suns 2nd rounder this season.

Here was their Top 10

1.Rose
2.Beasley
3.Mayo
4.B Lopez
5.Love
6.randolph
7.Gordon
8.Alexander
9.Westbrook

10.Gallinari

All before Gall-Atari and I'd wager he was probably projected around this spot on most other teams Mocks/Board in the league.

so, he was in their top ten. by your logic, the Sonics made an even worse pick by selecting Westbrook 5 spots too early. knicks only selected Gallinari three picks too early by your logic.

if the knicks liked him and he was a top ten prospect on "most other teams" boards then why is it such a reach?

I liked both Gallinari and Alexander (Love and Beasley, too, but I felt they'd be gone). The Knicks saw both Gallinari and Alexander work out twice and watch all the film of them. I tend to trust the decision they made based on what they observed. I would have been happy with either. They know how to play.

That's interesting because according to Realgm he only worked out for 3 teams... Wolves, Nets, Knicks. If this is accurate how could he have been a projected high pick(as many have stated here on this forum that he was regardless of our draft position) on other draft boards if he didn't work out for anybody?

Uhhhhh most analyst feel the Sonics reached a little bit with the 4rth pick.

Well hey look. I know we're all experts here but we're simply not the ones running things. Regardless of their plan it's going to take Walsh and DAntoni quite some time to get us heading in not only the right direction but a new direction. We're talking a minimum of a season and a half.

They have a vision. They're immediately on the same page regarding that vision. They're moving forward with it.

With Gallinari he has the family friendship ties, he suits DAntoni's style, and he was not selected to be an immediate saviour nor to be marketed as a foundation stone. He is merely a piece that fits the long term puzzle and it just so happened he came first.

Given the state of the team there was no home run at #6. There was no clear cut chance to dump a contract that night. So Gallinari fits the long term plan as a piece of the puzzle and they took him.

I think as fans we all need to back away from the home run scenarios that have plagued the team for 7+ seasons. It's not going to happen and there's no reason to get all riled up over one single move believing we blew some sort of chance to hit a home run. The home run just isn't there.

As the team is shaped for all we know Gallinari fits perfectly for the final product which is a couple of seasons away. Again, he just happened to come first.

It's a basketball team not a skyscraper. We don't have to pour the foundation first. No harm in acquiring the paint now and setting it aside. When you see a piece that fits you get it and that's what they have done here.

That is funny Randolph was on the Suns Board at 6 and Golden State at 5 and we have some people who think he is a second round pick.

Just think if you would of had pick 14 instead of pick 6 you could of had him. Heck you more than likely could have traded your 6th pick along with garbage contracts for pick 14 and got your man.

Oh Well!

SMH at randolph not being picked........... I really though he could be a guy to drive the engine of Mike'Ds system with all the things he does and his speed.

No one was taking garbage contracts in this draft and you cant trade back that far hoping for someone to take a dive. On top of it I dont think th Knicks wouldve taken Randolph with pick 25

I'm saying in theory and having the 6th pick changes an approach. Heck for all we know GSW may try and swing that 6th pick to grab Mayo @ 3 they definitely had the pieces to get a deal done.

Look at what the Suns did in round 2--for two spots they gaev up 500k pick 48 and another second rounder. They were freaking about pik 48 imagine trading out 6 to 16 like what was purported. Every good player that was talked about was gone.

The Girzzlies took Jaric's for Mayo and Jaric's contract is only $2il less than Jamal's and Jamal is the better player. You're probably right the Knicks would have selected Gallinari @ 14 not Randolph or anybody else. I'm saying who you could have picked.
