a couple of interesting things from his 82games.com stats:
http://www.82games.com/0708/07CHA3A.HTM he shot the ball better in crunch time situations and with 0-10 seconds on the clock. i liked his crunch time play at UNC a lot and his his better shooting with 0-10 on the clock implies he's better at pushing the ball and maybe a fit for our offense - 0-10 meaning 0-10 seconds expired off the shot clock aka seven seconds or less. his worst shooting comes with 3 seconds remaining on the 24 second clock, which to me implies that he is getting the ball at the end of the clock and forced to hoist a bad jumper up. look, he's not a flawless pg or he wouldn't be available, but he pushed the ball at UNC and he can push it here. he makes tremendous decisions in the open court from what i've seen, better than anyone we have. he's a solid crunch time performer and with better spacing and a better designed offense, i bet his fg% will go up. people here seem enamored with hinrich - but his first three years are worse than felton's and he isn't anywhere near the passer/facilitator that felton is. hinrich likes to sit back and launch threes and he's not good at it. felton gets by people to set up others and himself. if he's used properly, i think felton is the superior pg to hinrich and that felton is superior to most options we for a pg in trades. i can't think of any. i'm not sold on blake. i like lowry's defense, but not so much his playmaking. we aren't getting conley for lee and i'm not even sure i like conley as much as felton. we've backed ourselves into a corner of having to trade lee, felton is good value, he was a no.5 pick in the same draft lee went 30. both have produced in the nba, both have flaws to their games, both fit what the other team lacks. it's a fair trade in a lot of ways. Posted by crzymdups: Great post Crzy. Felton can be a 17 & 9 point guard in D'Antoni's system. And as you say, there isn't a better option out there than Felton. Not that we should settle on Felton because there isn't anything else out there, but he's alot better than his numbers say he is. |
