I see a lot of people bashing this pick, and debates over choosing the BPA or a prospect. As I said in several threads I like the pick...no player stood out as the clear cut best pick and Im willing to take a gamble on this kid.

I know that in a year or two people are going to come back and point to whoever turns out to be steal in the second round or late first round and talk about how we could have had him instead. I want everybody to pick ONE player who they would have drafted. Im going to bookmark it and in a year I want to see how these guys will turn out.

I like the Gallinari pick, but my choice for the player who will be the steal of the draft is DJ Augustine

I think he means players that were available for the 6th pick.

Understood, I think what is fueling a lot of anger around these parts is the fact that the Knicks were perhaps out-hustled on draft day and by taking the safe route we missed out on a draft day stud and potential superstar.

I dont know how one can see past that. In a vacuum, I have no issue with Gallinari, but in the grand scheme of things, the '08 draft has to be viewed as a monumental disappointment.

Okay, so pick a player. I hear everybody talk about how we messed up so bad but I want people to put their name on the line and pick a player that we can come back to next year and the one after that. Put your name on the line

My #1 pick was Bayless.
My #2 Pick was Galinari.

Bookmark it and feel free to remind me!

***

Since Bayless fell dramatically perhaps he wasn't as good as I thought.

***

You know who I would have picked over anybody in this whole draft including Beasley and Mayo?

Hasheem Thabeet. He has the potential to be a true Dikembe Mutombo on defense, and better than Mutombo on offense. Thabeet may never pan out, but his potential is ridiculous.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I wanted them to trade down so I get all picks after 6.

Bayless will have more impact than Gallinari in the NBA and I think DJ might end up being a better player too. Everyone else was a crapshot.

Good thread izybx - Not much left to choose from if we had to keep the 6th. I liked Randolph but 6th was too high to pick him. Bayless was a replica of what we already have too much of - combo guards.

I think Walsh did the safe/right thing regardless if it was popular or not. I would have chosen Gallinari

You have no idea what deals were available to the Knicks to trade down. Whatever deals were on the table could have been very unfavorable to the Knicks. I want to know who you would have taken, since you seem to be the most outspoken against this pick.

I would have gone Alexander first because I like his game and his ability to swing between SF/PF. Gallinari seems to fit this bill as well. Can't complain about the logic of the pick at all. The only reason I can't say I'm happy with the pick is becasue

u can be happy with the pick or be unhappy with the pick if you base it on logical reasoning... if you've done your homework on the guy, read up on scouting reports, watched the available video footage, & formulated logical reasons for why you did or didn't want him, i think it's fair to say you liked or dislike this pick... what gets me are the people who think this guy will beyond a shadow of a doubt be a bust based on this type of limited information, the same information that's available to everyone else, as if that was not even up for debate... that would be like someone taking it to the opposite extreme saying this kid is the next coming of Dirk w/o a shadow of a doubt based on that limited info... ridiculous.

This draft, the wasting of the 6th pick and the inability to get later picks, has set the franchise back a minimum of 2 more years.

Whos your pick? Or would you have traded Z-Bo to the nets for the 10th and the 21st, Lee to the grizz for the 5th, Marbury to the Blazers for all six of their picks, and then packaged those picks in a three teams blockbuster that would have given us D Rose and Beasley?

I made fun of Gallinari, but I make fun of everything. I have no idea what the Rooster is capable of. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do. I always try to support our rookies.
