extends the cap in terms of years but both JJ and Hinrich are signed through 2011.

If we're trading Lee, we should get something better/younger.

I just posted this in another thread from Marc Berman, but it fits so I'll post it here too.

The Knicks are reportedly shopping David Lee, and a trade seems likely now that they have #6 draft pick Danilo Gallinari to fill in at power forward.
The New York Post's Marc Berman believes the Knicks will swap David Lee for a point guard (Raymond Felton, Kyle Lowry or Kirk Hinrich?). They were reportedly on the verge of trading Lee to Memphis for the #5 pick in the draft, but might have changed their minds once Seattle drafted Russell Westbrook.

I guess that depends on how you rate Hinrich. Haven't watched him much but he can play D and run a team. His shot has sucked recently.

Trading Lee and JJSkinny rids you of 2 players that play the same position as DG.

I guess so........... JJ2 and Hinrich make about the same. Plus image that trading Kirk if we had to is alot easier then JJ.

Interesting idea. Hinrich has a good shot, he can run the offense and he'll immediately be our best defensive guard. I'd do it.

Doable but not all that interested.

I'd hold onto to Lee at this point as long as I can unless we're packaging him with either of the 3 Cruise Ship Anchors in Zach, Curry, and Crawford then Arrevaderchi.

Keep him all the way until he becomes a RFA because I know an extension has to be out of the equation at this point. Hope for a S&T to a team under the cap, for a draft pick(s). Pick up a TE in the process for the amount of his first yr salary and use that TE the summer of 2010/2011 right before it expires. This would be the smartest decision for us businesswise if he doesn't fit D'Antonio Mcdyess' system.

This has been stated many times - why would the Knicks trade with Chicago AGAIN? We already have Crawful and fat Curry. The Bulls roster didn't work in Chicago and won't be any different in NY. Trade with someone else....

So we shouldn't trade for Derrick Rose either?

I think we're gonna have a new PG pretty soon. It's will be interesting if it's Hinrich, though I still think it will be Felton.

Thats not who we are talking about in this scenario and even if it was - it would be totally unrealistic for someone to think the Knicks could pry talent like Rose with our current assets. The point is - why would we want 4 Bulls players on our roster that really don't help us?

Unless you are expecting to just let Lee and his salary expire, it realistically does not add to the cap.

Jared Jeff - 6.8M
Lee - At least 3M?
Hinrich - 9M

Haven't we done enough business with Chicago for a millenium?

If I were the Bulls, I'd hold onto Hinrich for at least a year while they work Rose into the starting lineup. With Thomas and Noah, they don't need another energy PF.

Raymond Felton for Lee might make the most sense for both teams. Backup for backup.

My bad - I thought you were talking about 2 players - didnt realize it was us sedning out 2.

I am just very skeptical about adding more players to our roster from that team. If they thought it would work with Hinrich, Curry, and Crawford they would have kept them together - but they didn't and I don't see why we should try.

I don't have anything against him personally and I understand the Knicks are looking for a PG - but we do have Steph for 1 more year and I think its time to do business with another club...
