These I found on Sixers forums. Gotta luv these:

From http://forums.netsports.com/showthread.php?s=c320046bd265ffde0ab262896cf6ee4f&threadid=26686: great trade for the Sixers and Wolves. Hawks and Knicks get hosed

AI, Robinson, Clancy, and Korver are going to light up the scoreboard for the Sixers!

From http://www.sixersonline.net/forums/: Look at it this way, we're getting rid of a soft player in Keith Van Horn. Keith is a solid player if he is feeling confident about himself, but when he isn't, he hurts this team. He doesn't show up in big games either. Although with the addition of Big Dog we will become a smaller team, we are adding more talent. Big Dog gives us a legitimate second scorer who we can count on giving us 15-20 points a night, whereas we couldn't count on that nightly from Van Horn. Honestly, I don't think Big Dog could do any worse than Keith Van Horn did...

From http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/basketball/6361549.htm: Van Horn, 27, arrived in Philadelphia with much fanfare last summer after the Sixers agreed to a three-player deal with New Jersey. But he and former coach Larry Brown never really clicked, and during the playoffs Van Horn struggled. His average dropped to 10.4 points per game, and in the final three second-round games against Detroit, he scored a total of 12 points.

There are plenty more negative KVH reviews and fan posts happy to see KVH go. I put the links so y'all KVH fans can look for yourselves and don't say that I just posted the negative ones. You'll find ten happy fans for 1 unhappy that KVH is gone. And most of those are unhappy only because they don't like Big Dog!! ROFLMAO at those who don't know and ain't eva gonna learn.

I guess on this side of the fence you can say that the Knicks are giving up an energy player with really good D, but one who has and would have played out of position for a long time. No more 3-15 nights, with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 TOs.

Sure, Martin, unless NY makes the playoff and we need a big game from our SF. THEN we can count on a 3-15 night(and that's being optimistic), with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 TOs.

Those posts are from fans who saw him an entire year. I saw him around 30 times when I used to go to the NJ games. This guy is a waste of talent (because he IS talented) and as such will fit right in with Housless.

But on the plus side, I guess team harmony will be through the roof.

Great post, necrom! Yeah this is too real for the jawjackers ballyhooin' KVH around here in the other threads. Everyone who knows how soft and inconsistent he is (especially those who had to sit thru last year in Philly) aren't looking at him through the rose-colored glasses cats around here have on. In another year, the SAME comments will be made on this board. Too bad some of us are too slow and behind the curve to understand this now like we do.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Man, and I only posted 3. The overwhelming mood on any Sixers board is one of joy. You got a few scragglers who are unhappy with the trade, and most of THOSE are only unhappy because they don't like Big Dog, not because they are losing KVH.

Rose Colored glasses are right. Comments like "you can't teach size" are asinine to say the least. Defending KVH's playoff 'performances' is flat-out stupidity.

These are the same fools who'd be happy trading for Shawn Bradley cuz he's 7'6" or whatever. After all, you can't teach size!

Forget Spree. He's gone. I wish him well. Let's compare the stats of what we now have. Here are KVH regular season stats (on top) and playoff stats.

  • MPG FG% 3P% FT% TOT APG SPG BPG PPG
  • 31.6 0.482 0.369 0.804 7.1 1.3 0.85 0.41 15.9
  • 33.5 0.382 0.438 0.9 7.5 0.8 0.83 0.17 10.4

I don’t think the Knicks are going to have to worry about Van Horn’s playoff performances or lack thereof if you know what I mean

Its not as if we are saying that Van Horn cant play a lick…Its not like he is totally incompetent like Spoon or Eisley, Van Horn can be damn good if you catch him on the right night…Its just that the Knicks need more than “not bad”, we need Superstars, hungry young athletic ballplayers, not another jump shooter with a game softer then Mo Vaughn’s belly…we already have a warehouse full of those.

Why do you think he keeps getting run out of town? Its not some conspiracy against him. KVH plays passion free basketball. Something that struck me about a lot of those posts…their excitement level…The last time I was enthused over a Knick personnel move was when we got Spreewell…Layden keeps inflicting damaging blows at the energy level of the fan base, and watching Eisely, Anderson, Van Horn, Sweetney, Spoon, Houston, Knight on the floor this year will be like Nyquil fleshed out in human form

Necrom, Iceman, Sebstar...

We see this situation without those rose-colored glasses. Reality is painful but some of us are brave enough to tell it like it is.

No Rose-Colored glasses here, but the REALITY is, we CAN NOT do anything about getting a superstar untill H20 has been paid out.

Period.

So until then, our only mission is to get the best players we can (on our limited budget) around Allan. (because it's Allan's team, whether you like it or not) Why are we even discussing getting superstars now? we know we can't. Van Horn is a mere placeholder. He's 'J.R. Reid'. So why are we getting worked up? Spree is 34. In hindsight I would have tried to give up Starks to get him after the 94 finals...But I would have been crucified for even mentioning giving up Starks...Spree's past his prime. He would have played out of position for two more seasons and left. KVH will be done when Houston's done. THEN we can talk about Superstars getting in here. (And I'm impatient too...)

Knixphan, is it beyond your scope of realism to think that it is possible to TRADE Allan?

Perhaps that should be the subject of the next poll:

'Do you think Allan is tradeable?'

Many GM's seem to think not. If I were a GM, what would be my motivation to take on his money? Especially with the cap the way it is? - I truly believe that any trade for Allan would not get us any closer to a big time free agent than just waiting it out. We would have to take on some other long-term junk in return...

Of course, I could totally be wrong, and I'm open to a suggestion.

Maybe a team that is going through some issues or have players that are going through issues would possibly be interested...

Any ideas? (wink, wink!)

Ah yes, but do we really want derek fisher? Even if it means getting Kobe??

I don't know about biting that bullet.......

Also, would Portland really want Doleac? A Center pairing of Doleac AND Sabonis?

Talk about the walking stiffs!

okay, I'd do Houston/Doleac for Sheed in a minute. It would make the waiting more fun, at the very least. Still, the true saviour would still come afterwards. I agree with it from a pure entertainment perspective. The garden would be unpredictable with Sheed as the focal point.

And let's just say there's something left in Antonio's poor little legs. For the sake of fantasy. Sheed/Dice is an ok starting FC. the other three would be Williams/Shandon/VanHorn, I presume?
