Do you guys realize how massive his contract is? Its the biggest trading pawn in basketball. It has to be looked upon that way. Its a **** load to dump at one time......that's almost an entire teams starting line-up/rotation.

Donnie has already said countless times he is looking to get under the cap in 2010....fine......but there are some serious talent out there that can be had for the massive nut that is Marbury's contract.

I'll throw out the names:
Marion
Maybe Wade
Jermaine O'neal
Maybe Tracy Mcgrady
Baron Davis

I mean you can run a list if you comb the league. This contract can reset a lot of teams.....

Add #6?!?!? And its the an atom bomb.

Any bright ideas?

Outside of Wade/McGrady on that list I would rather have it expire and take us a step closer to having more roster flexibility and save the nuts for a year or two down the line (we'll have a couple more exprings as the years go by). The Knicks are not ready to make the splash move right now.

I have an idea. Let it expire.

On your list you either have players that won't be available for trade such as Wade. Or players you should never want on your team like McGrady. Or players that havent been able to play much recently in ONeal.

Here's a bigger idea. We need to dump Zach. Cleveland is a legit trading partner. I wouldn't say I condone it, but, I wouldn't be surprised if we trade Zach to Cleveland on draft night.

Something like:

Zach, Jeffries, #6 - for Wallace and #19 and future first.

or

Zach, Jeffries, #6 - for Wally, Snow, #19, and future first.

Then even the complete dream scenario that has three of our four 2011s out the door.

Zach, Jeffries, Crawful, #6, (and more compensation, like balkman or lee, etc) - for Wallace, Wally, #19, and future first.

That'd be a whole lot better use of the #6 - outside of using it for ourselves - IMO - than packaging it with Marbury's expiring.

You don't have to use it as an atom bomb.
You can rent a big contract player for a year or two.
Or you can rent a smaller contract player (albeit still overpaid) and make up the difference with another smaller expiring contract coming back.

I'm just saying.....Marbs contract is an incredibly important piece of paper.

The names I threw out are just names we've endlessly debated here.......ok take Tmac for instance. Houston could say, "you know what **** it. Yao is our man. Lets hit the reset button with this trade and totally build around yao". Tmac now......like someone said, the knicks will have some more nuts poppin off in a few years. The Knicks could use that to attract more players.

Ultimately, the Knicks will have to spend again. Spend on who? Praying for Lebron is like praying Beyonce would see you in a crowd and just proclaim her love for your broke ass and divorce Jay-z.

In other words the Knicks could be left with nothing. Once Marbs contract is gone, that it! Shit is gone.

Question: during the year does anyone thing any new names will pop up as candidates for a massive dump?

Dare I say it......if san antonio comes out next year and lays an egg......do they pull a miami and tank. Do they possibly trade Duncan and start over? hey its just a question.

Stop It! We fired Isiah and we're not making any more of these trades.

T Mac? Are you kidding me? T Mac is 29 and at his prime he can't stay healthy for a season.

Marion? An uber role player?

We can't keep spinning our wheels with these kinds of moves.

Just let it go...

Let it expire, or buy him out.

you just wait. Isiah was like my kid with a dollar at 7-11. That kids getting something...

I am open to anything regarding Marbs from seeing if a motivated Marbs wants to play for another contract to seeing what other teams are willing to dump.

My plan would be let him come into camp in shape and let him be the starting PG. Keep him as happy as you can and see if someone has a firesale in Feb (doesnt someone always???) that you can really take advantage of.

Hopefully Milw totally tanks and you can steal Bogut/Redd for Marbury and some young guys... maybe Nate/Lee/Chandler etc

I'd trade his contract in a much bigger deal to get Carmelo, where they also get rid of Zach, or in a straight up deal for Jermaine O'Neal, whose contract expires in the summer of 2010.

Marbury
Randolph
#6

for

Carmelo
Camby
KMart

Unless a team wants to dump quality to start over, we let it expire.

If you want to dump, then Zdump is your man. NOthing in return except an expiring or some pieces. Detroit can have him. Either by cap, or by trade. Or bring in a 3rd team.

Rockets have proven they can't go beyond with McGrady, so they might want to dump him and rebuild with Yao. Be my guest.

I prefer we have a plan and see it thru disregarding other teams offerings unless we are just blown away by it.

Yeah, want to make something of it?

The Knicks get a superstar player, a very useful defensive player with a reasonable contract and KMart, who started all 71 games that he played in last year. And most importantly, they get rid of Randolph.

The Nuggets get huge cap relief after next year, a guy who will put up numbers and a lottery pick that they can use on another Randolph who can be a younger Camby.

The big reason to get under the cap by 2010 is to try to get a player like Carmelo. Get him now and the importance of getting far under the cap in 2010 isn't as great.

sure... why wait for Lebron and cap space two years from now? Why not just trade Marbury's contract for him NOW?

That's all I'm saying. 2010 is just a year to get back over the cap. If the Knicks can pawn Marbs contract for something good now, why not. Before 2010 more guys will come off the books......you can do the same.

Its all about getting some real talent in here. Not Layden/isiah talent. If the Knicks can get their hands on any of these big guns they gotta do it......and get 2 not just one.

Why, was LeBron rumored to be available the way Melo has been the last few months?

That's an awesome trade idea. It's not my fault that some of you are too stupid to appreciate it's genius.

Why would the Nuggets trade Carmelo for cap space? Who are they going to get with cap space that's better than Carmelo? There are barely 6 players in the league that are a definite building piece better than Carmelo, if that.
