I like his handle and penetration skills. His outside shot needs a lot of work. He tends to drift to his strong hand, his left, which tells me he needs to work on his strength.
In terms of BPA I don't see a guy at 6 who would be considered more of a BPA than Randolph. He has more potential than any of the guards and fits this system perfectly. He can guards bigs or smalls he can play 3-4 hybrid
he's got great ballhandling skills for a very lengthy 6-10 and you can see his agility mobility and athletic ability. I don't see a player CLOSE to him for THIS system at 6 and unless Kevin Love showed some kind of dramatic change Randolph should be the runaway choice at 6 imho. It is very rare to see a 6-10 player with his kind of skill along with his athletic package. He's 6-10 but handles the ball like a guard--he can go in out he can guard 5-1--I HOPE that we are serious about LONG term improvement instead of shot term fixes. We should be better this year but to think we are one point guard away is assinine and these guys who have come in to manange the team have to know that. This has to be a three year approach--getting the BPA in the draft regardless of position for this style of play and making the pick
I like the up-side of Randolph but I'm far more worried about the downside.
NBA history is chock-full of tall-skinny-athletic kids who have great potential but just never get over the hump.
I haven't seen enough of him to see him do much other than dunk from a shot perspective. I like the handles and DON'T view him as SF because he just doesn't have the shot making skills to play the 3. I see him as an athletic #4 but I think he will struggle to find a true position and it will take him a long time to come around.
I would prefer Mayo, Bayless and Gordon of Randolph and Joe Alexander has been growing on me as well.
