Hmmm. 10 spots down though? That's too steep a price. I would like to get a young player in return as well.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

One trade that is making the rounds would involve the Knicks sending Zach Randolph and the rights to the #6 pick to Philadelphia for a smaller contract, such as Reggie Evans, and the rights to the #16 pick—after July 1st (when Philadelphia’s cap space kicks in). New York would move into position to have significant cap space in the summer of 2010 (possibly to make a run at LeBron James) by unloading the 17.3 million dollars owed to Randolph in 2010/11, and would still be able to keep David Lee around.
The trade makes a lot of sense in the long-run. Odds are Lee is going to be as good as any player available at #6 and odds are we can get a better player with cap space than anyone we can get with pick #6.

I disagree about Lee. Lee is what he is. We know what type of player he is already. I'd still like to add another top young talent to this team who has a bigger upside. I'm all for moving Zach but I would prefer to deal Lee with him instead.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Absolutely no ****ing way. I am totally against crap trades like this one. Randolph is a 20/10 player. Evans is a 5/8 player if that.

Philly wants Zach I want Evans and the 16. Our pick os off limits. I don't.know how people get behind something like this! We have 2 ****ing years before we actually have to get rid of his contract. Geezus Christmas!

Ouch indeed, just read the article (I love DX)

I would like another pick and we do need to offload salary BUT

a) this deal is selling Zach at rock bottom price
b) 6th pick could be a very very very good player

I'm guessing Donnie or Mike has made up their mind about GaZeeBo. Still I'd haggle with this rumor, especially since Mo Cheeks (thanks dude) has already publicly made a case for acquiring Zach.

I'd either want more or substitute the 6th with one of our young players, preferably Balkman.

Lee has upside. We have not seen him in a situation that fits his skills. He's a double double guy and scores at 55% for a team of guys that do nothing but throw the ball at the rim.

Very much interested in seeing Lee in a motion offense.

As much as i hate to say this I agree with joe. Give them Zach and we get back Evens and the 16.Why are we so loose with that 6th pick?? We are going to get a very good "start now"player with this pick.

Guaranteed Lee is out there shooting jumpers all day to get a jumper down. If he ever gets a midrange jumper hes gonna be unstoppable. And by the work I hear he puts, in he WILL have a good jumper this year.
Why are some of you guys so eager to get rid of Lee??

What about combining this trade with the following:

Take Gallinari w/ pick at 16. I know he's slotted to go higher, but perhaps he can pull what Mayo is pulling by only working out for certain teams. He's got an out in his contract now and then again in 2 years. If he's says he'd only opt out now for the Knicks, no lottery team would pick him & wait 2 years. What's his motivation to do this? 1) D'antoni 2) the fact that he can easily make up the lesser salary in marketing $$ (and the Knicks can facilitate that)

This is a have your cake & eat it too scenario. You dump ZNo & his salary. You get a lottery type caliber player despite the move down.

because you have to give up A LOT to get another team to take back a cancer with a horrible contract.

Please don't fall in love with Randolph's box scores. The guy is enemy #1 to chemistry. He is a horrible TEAM player. HORRIBLE. He is so destructive to anything going on be it on the court or in the locker room.

If you could right now reverse the Randolph trade, bring back Frye and buy out Francis, start Lee and bring Frye off the bench - we'd be an undoubtedly improved team. If we had that and no court drama (which led to Marbury and Isiah feuding) there was a very good chance we made the playoffs last season.

The guy is just terrible. He's got to go. I'd even trade him and the #6 to Cleveland for the #19 and Wally(cap space) or add in Jeffries and bring back the #19 and Wallace(again, cap space).

Because Isiah was a ****ing ******* we now have to give away a third lottery pick and move back to square one. You guys are nuts if you wouldn't do this deal. Zach is horrible and we need to get him off the team. 20 and 10 means nothing if you're a bastard thats me first. So if we hang onto the pick and get a very good guard and are paying zach 17 million where does that leave the team.....

The point here is to go uptempo, take batum with the 17th pick let him stay in europe and develop if he bans out we have a deadly shooter when he comes over.

Eddy can't flourish with Zach and if Eddy can't he is useless and not tradable. Steph will have a great year and we let him go, and then all of a sudden Eddy is moveable maybe even Jamal we need to get rid of this entire team.

Bosh, James whoever is worth 15 million not Zach. You can do a Malik Rose for Kyle Lowry and Mike Miller and get a quality guard in place.

Bonn, Cheeks has said he WANTS Zach, so we have a fish on the hook here. Cheeks is willing to put up with Zach because he needs the 20/10 so the idea is to let him out a little and reel him in alittle. Mo will deal if he really wants him and we will still hold onto that 6th pick.

thats the thing.. Isiah isnt the only one with an ego in this league. Zach is a pitcher with a 96 mile an hour fastball. Lot of guys around the league will look at him and say I can work with that.

I agree on not packaging the pick with Zach. I'd let him go without expecting anything but salary relief, but I wouldn't send a valuable asset like our pick along with him. There are, however, a couple of other rumors in the same column that would interest me.
The Indiana Pacers are trying to dangle the #11 pick in hopes of being able to package it with one of their ugly contracts (preferably Jermaine O’Neal). There is talk out of O’Neal’s camp that he anticipates being trade to Cleveland at some point this summer, possibly in a deal involving expiring contracts such as Wally Szczerbiak and Eric Snow.
O'Neal's contract is done when LeBron and the others become free agents. Marbury's salary would make the trade work cap wise. We can throw in some cash and a player like Balkman. The 11th pick could be useful to us. If we go big on the sixth pick, we could pick up a pg in Augustin with the 11th. If we go small on the sixth pick, we could get a useful big like McGee. Or we could package the 11th and Lee to trade up with Memphis, who is looking to move down.
There are a number of teams looking to move down or out of this draft if the right trade offer comes along. One of them is Memphis, who is having serious problems scheduling some of the top players expected to compete for the fifth overall pick. Things are reportedly bad enough that as many as 6 of the top 7 players in this draft (everyone projected in that range of our current mock draft besides Kevin Love) have told the Grizzlies they do not want to play for them. Memphis might thus decide to save some money and slide down a few slots, while possibly unloading a contract (such as Brian Cardinal) in the process. The Sixers could come into play here too.

That way, we might get a quality big and a quality guard with the fifth and sixth pick - maybe Bayless and Love. We'd have to give up Lee and and someone like Balkman and some cash and have O'Neal around for a couple of years instead of Marbury for one year.

cheeks may want him b/c he worked with him before. but he might be the only coach that does.

and there may be no gm that would b/c of his contract.

Bottom line to me is attaching the 6 to Zach to erase him is bad business. I like having the 6 more than getting rid of Zach. We got two years to get rid of him! He already has suitors in Denver and Philly and Milly. = am ok with selling Zach.

I would do Ben and the 19 for Zach in a heartbeat.
I would do Evans and th 16 for Zach in a heartbeat.
