The bigger of the two came hours before the trade deadline. Thomas had a deal to move Zach Randolph to the Denver Nuggets in another complicated trade, but there is no disputing a trade was ready to be made. But at the 11th hour, Isiah was at it again trying to tweak and adjust and squeak a little more out of the Nuggets, who eventually got fed up and called off the deal.

i think i must've proposed that trade about 20 times already on these forums... if that deal goes down i'll be 1 happy camper.

Yet another lash of the whip on Isiah Thomas.

Kenyon Martin in a Knick uniform right now? Makes perfect sense. The guy plays defense and has a crazy nervous tick. That alone will make post game interviews must see TV.

Well, if we want a headcase that plays D, we may as well go for the best in both of those categories: Ron-Ron. ;)

Well look...if Kenyon is healthy and we can't pull off a solid reversal of the initial trade - such as dumping Zach on Cleveland for expirings and a kid or pick...then maybe you entertain the idea. Yet it doesn't help our cap situation which is a big problem with Curry-Crawful-Jeffries-ZachAss all lined up with 2011 - AND - it signifies an absolute confidence by management that this core is FIXABLE by a TRADE OR TWO.......and that's clearly not realistic as four and three quarters seasons worth of that failure of a plan have shown.

So...I don't know how good of an idea it'd be.

If we did it, if we were fully healthy next year, if there was no drama and players were used as their skills dictate, then what...we win 38 games and squeak into the playoffs? While that'd be a welcome change the problem is 38 wins would be that new roster's ceiling.

Then what? Go out and start opening up the 2012 and 2013 purse strings thinking this "new" core is again just a trade or two away from competing?

If we do this...we've learned NOTHING.

There's too much garbage on this roster to believe a trade or two is the answer to it's woes. At the end of the day you'll still have a lot of pieces that don't fit together, a cap strapped team with a low ceiling, and you'll be ensuring you can't even START to rebuild until beyond 2011 due to the filling up of the cap (like lets say we then trade for Marion with Marburys expiring and extend him..... or do the diaw/barbosa fake rumor thing).

Maybe it works, maybe it doesnt, but I'm kinda wary of the idea that this roster is fixable and also very tired of the "its so crazy it JUST MIGHT WORK" theme we've watched crash and burn for going on 8 seasons now.

We could have hung on to Ewing and let him expire...
We could have rebuilt in 03/04 when Isiah was hired...
We could have rebuilt in 07 when all of Laydens crap expired on it's own...
We could have rebuilt in 09 when most of Isiass' mistakes expired on their own...
We COULD rebuild in 2010 if we can liquidate some of our 2011s....
We COULD rebuild in 2011 if we wait for Isiass' final mistakes to expire on their own....

OR...We could continue to StarPhuck(copyright UK)....and watch a crappy team filled with overpaid vets...while musing about the summer of 2013 as the next possible time to rebuild.

I'm really glad that Isiah is being punished, for ****ing up the entire organization, by taking a nice long European vacation that the Knicks are paying for.

Would you rather him be in America?

it doesn't help our cap situation but it doesn't hurt it either... pretty much a lateral trade cap wise but at least it brings in a player that fits the system a lot better than what we have now... plus the guy at least plays some D, something Zach will never do.

i seriously don't see any way we can unload Zach for a shorter term deal at this point unless we throw in a pick & i don't think it makes any sense to trade D Lee to unload Zach's deal either unless we were getting back a legit starting PF.

Reguardless he was going to get paid. Why buy him out and give him a lump sum in dollars so he can earn crazy interest on it. Isiah should be an aftr thought but you keep bring his name back out.

Actually it wasn't me, it was Donnie Walsh when he told the media that Isiah was scouting in Europe.

If Walsh had done the right thing and gotten rid of that cancer, you'd never have had to hear his name again.

You are right Walsh should have kept his mouth shut so you wouldn't know where Isiah was.

Yay. I SAY UGH (tee hee) strikes again. Worst GM ever.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

doesn't kenyon's contract actually run longer than Zbo's? i agree he'd be a better fit though. I would probably still do this trade.

i seriously have no idea why denver would though.

they run the same length, Zach makes a few hundred thousand more per year... the difference can easily be made up in cash, neither come off the cap til the end of 2010/11 season.
