I have been thinking the same thing Allanfan- why do we have to give up two good assets to dump a contract? I don't like that kind of thinking- I'd rather hold on to Curry/Zach longer.
I'm not even saying that I wouldn't do it. If we have to do it, then we have to. Trust me, I want to keep Lee and that pick just as much as anyone else, and I personally think it would be stupid to trade the pick and Zach for a crap player with a shorter contract. However, we DO need to start moving foward, and Zach is poison on this team, and I think he is more hurtful to this team than Marbury! To me, the best time to trade him is this summer, b/c after that, people's sights are going to be glowing on the LeBron year even more, and you probably wont even be able to trade him with Lee next Summer, b/c his salary is going to be MUCH larger. It's unfortunate, but we gotto start weeding this mess.
I think Bonn has a decent idea in trading Jamal and Curry, but it's flawed. That's huge salary teams would be taking on and we'd have to take on something pretty huge in return. Is it worth trading those 2 together (Assuming a team would want both of them, which I doubt.)? I doubt it. Personally, lets see if Jamal can thrive under something he's never had before, besides a couple of months under Larry Brown: Good coaching. Lets see if we can trade Eddie Curry for Mark Blounts shorter deal. Miami needs a big man.
