Incoming Players
Jerome James
Salary: $5,800,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 2.0 REB: 1.5 AST: 0.0 PER: 45.41

David Lee
Salary: $990,600 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 10.8 REB: 8.9 AST: 1.2 PER: 18.01

Outgoing Players: Sergio Rodriguez, Joel Przybilla, Josh McRoberts, # 1 pick

Why for Knicks? It all starts with the PG position. Rodriguez can play. Then you target DJ Augustin with the # 13 pick. Pryzbilla for James swap is an upgrade with a very mild cap hit. He's also a very trade-able piece down the road, so I am not that worried about future cap implications. its not a cap killer contract. And then you have Portland's # 1 pick. McRoberts is a throw in, but I think he can be a solid bench player who is athletic enough to play some 4, and big enough to play some 5.

What's the opening day roster look like?

C: Curry, Pryzbilla, McRoberts
PF: ZBo, Anthony Randolph (# 6 pick)
SF: Chandler, Balkman
SG: Craw, Nate
PG: Rodriguez, DJ Augustine (# 13 pick)

-New additions Rodriguez, Augustin, A. Randolph & McRoberts all are athletic and intelligent enough to play D'antoni's style.
-Pryzbilla mitigates Curry. They can each play 24 minutes a night.
-You walk away from the draft with a huge upside guy in Anthony Randolph and an intelligent PG who plays like Terrell Brandon.

Then you tell Marbury to stay home until a) the deadline or b) until his contract expires.

This is also a "change the culture of the organization trade". Its unfortunate that Lee has to be sacrificed. But, you add a shot blocker (Pryzbilla), an athletic 4/5 (McRoberts), a super athletic high upside guy (Randolph) and 2 PG's who can thrive at making others better in D'antoni's system (what a novel concept for a NY Knick PG).

Lee's one of the least' players to be dealt in just about any deal.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I agree that he's far & away our best player. But if it facilitates re-working the roster, so be it.

They don't need Lee, Aldridge will be playing PF and Frye is the backup. Lee's a keeper, all efforts should be made to move Z-No

Two diff goals in mind.

With Lee, you recognize that he is an important cog to a winner, but also recognize that we're not near that, so you deal him to facilitate a roster makeover.

With ZNo, you recognize that he is a loser (much like Curry), and you unload him of course, but realize you're not going get much more than a Ben Wallace empty salary obligation.

I'd rather just swap Lee for Rodriguez... and I'm not sure that would happen because we get the better player in return.

The other trade might happen, but I don't want to take on Pryzabdgksjg's extra years.

What about we do Lee for Sergio Rodriguez + Pick 13?

Edit: Sorry Supreme, didn't even see your post above me there.

I agree, I like Sergio.. I'm not so sure he's the best player in the deal though, I mean Lee is a double-double guy and for all intents and purposes, Sergio has done nothing in the NBA so far.

What do you mean when you say 'facilitate a roster makeover'?

Yes, Lee can be a cog to a winner, but why can't that winner be us in the very near future?
I'll never trust this' team again.

Isn't that always the case in all of these suggestions?

I still think we should just let the contracts run out. At least we know we'll have millions coming off the books, within the next three seasons.

Frye...a player that would have flourished in D'Antoni's run-and-gun system.

Pretty much is always the case, yes. The one thing in the Knicks favor here though is Lee is a big and Rodriguez is a small... usually in big for small swaps, the team getting the big has to overpay a bit. I'm just not so sure Portland will be willing to overpay with Oden coming back.

He is the very definition of a trailing player. The boy can stop and pop and can also attack the basket with ferocious dunks. Just tell him not to try to dunk on Mourning.

What the hell is that? We still have Curry and Zach Randolph in our lineup. That team would give up 200 PPG in D'Antoni's system.

Before we add any players to this roster, Curry and Randolph need to get lost.
