So what is the deal on DeAndre Jordan? I might have seen him play like once or twice this season but don't really remember anything. I see NBADRAFT.net has us picking him. I am "intrigued" because he is an athletic big man with good upside and with Walsh saying he would consider taking a player who might not be ready for a few years, this guy could be our pick. My question is, do you guys think this guy can be Andrew Bynum? NBADRAFT.net compares him to Dwight Howard. And if he didn't go to college, I'm sure everyone over at realgm would already be on this guys nuts.

My draft board went like this around January-February

1. Beasley
2. Gordon
3. Jordan
4. Thabeet
5. Mayo
6. Rose

After the tournament it went

1. Beasley
2. Mayo
3. Jordan
4. Gordon(Thabeet doesn't declare)
5. Rose although Bayless is growing on me some



Basically I wouldn't be mad if we got Jordan but he'd be a project in the fullest sense.

Major I saw Beasley and Mayo in person square off at the tournament. All Beasley needs to do is put on 10lbs and tighten up his man D and he's a complete stud 4. Whoever drafts him, I'm going to be so jealous, he's a freak of nature.

Just like you think Beasley is overrated I think Rose is just as much the same. The guy played on a stacked squad as a two playing point and got glory as the best floor general in college when most saw it was CDR who carried that team.

Beasley will play the 4 trust me.

The only 2 players in this draft who are true Franchise players are Beasley and Mayo. My draft board went who I thought are the best players in the country, then went immediately to need, then to BPA.

i'll ask this question again since it went unanswered in the other thread... who IYO is the better prospect coming out of college: Durant or Beasely? just trying to gauge Beasely's upside.

I never got a chance to see him play this yr but I think Briggs did. He's essentially a Dwight Howard/Bynum hybrid. I don't think he has their defensive acumen quite yet. What scares me is the guy only snags 6reb/gm and his blocks were so-so for his size. Heck Beasley out boarded him by double and he isn't near his size, that scares me. The thing is will you get burned by passing on his upside.

Well I'm looking at Jordan as a long term guy, like Bynum. He still needs to grow into his body but from all the scouts they say he has a chance to develop into a pretty good defensive player. Thats what I want. A 6-11 7 foot guy who is athletic and can patrol the paint. Plus I think it would be fun to watch a player like that develop. I agree. I said we need to draft for need defense being foremost after the Top 2 players whoever they were. Too bad Donnie Walsh thinks this way....

-His draft philosophy is NEVER draft by need... always pick Best Player Available.

-Not opposed to trading the pick, not opposed to keeping it.

-Certain players that look good in college don't pan out and he needs to evaluate that in the guys he looks at; which is why he took Reggie Miller instead of some other college stud (dont remember the name but he was the consensus pick).

-Will dedicate the next month and a half into solely looking at players.

-D'Antoni will have imput in the pick

-Donnie likes Wilson Chandler, impressed with his fearlessness, impress on how he took it to Danny Granger.

He's got potential--there is no doubt about that. I mean he is 7-0 with a strong body and very athletic/ explosive. That being said he is quite devoid of skills. He cant play outside of the paint. His FT shooting would be on par with Ben Wallace. He was not the best player on his own team or even close to it. While imposing he didnt block many shots for his size because of tchnique. He has very little fundamental game. His intenisty level/motor is only fair at best. That being said there are few people on the planet with his physical attributes. Coordination size explosion at 7 feet. He's a much better prospect than many raw type C in the past few years because of those traits. He was leading the nation early on in FG% because he as scoring on just dunks and putbacks. He does have rudimentary post up skills but from what I saw and I saw him 3-4 times he's just very far from polished. He could be good with work or he could be Kwame Brown flip your coin.

You know, its hard to make predictions. To me is a fair comparison, but I think Jordan has so much better athletism than Battie, so it would be a bit disappointing (though not so surprising) if thats all he can become. IMO his basketball IQ and his efforts (or lack of them) to improve will determine his ceiling because as you said, he had the tools to be good. If we draft him, I would love to see him becoming a defensive especialist.

it's hard to tell really. Beasley has no NBA experience yet and Durant? In some peoples eyes, he had a little bit of a disappointing season last year. But 19 a game for a rook isn't too bad either.

But by getting rid of those 3 lazy dim wits, it could jeapardize holding our future cap room steady, for those mega moves in two years. I see no reason to move them right now. It's too soon. Wait two years and then' move them. Let's see what D'Antoni can do with this bunch first in the meantime.

The few times I have seen him play, I forgot he was on the floor... I was calling him casper the ghost...... Again this draft for me was all about rose.. I am not that big a fan of beasley.. but I sure as hell don't want this kid at #6 he has no offensive skills whatsoever, and doesn't stand out when he is on the floor.. he should have went back to school..
