He has the Knicks taking Gallinari.

"The skinny: Mike D'Antoni lands the perfect weapon for his new team -- a 6-10 point forward who knows how to think the game.

It might not be a popular pick in New York, but D'Antoni will make it work."

You guys haven't even seen me be negative yet if that were to happen.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

You'd bash the guy even before he plays?

y are u so down on that prospect? have u seen the guy play so much that you know for a fact he'd be a horrible fit for this team?

Because he's soft and doesn't play defense.

how do you know this tho? i'm curious... i've been going off scouting reports & thinking he seems to fit the mold of a player that would do well in D'Antoni's system... have you seen him play in games firsthand that would lead you to believe he's a high risk bust of a pick?

I love how every Euro that has skills is supposedly going to be the next Dirk. Seriously how many Euro's have been drafted since Dirk and have come close to sniffing his jock? Absolutely zero! Then it was Classic during the Draft Pick Selection segment when they had Bilas going through his Top prospects and when he got to Gilinari he capped his analysis with "Experts Say He Could Be Better Than Bargnani." I was like AB sucks so that's not saying anything really.

what's the difference between those comparisons & just about every domestic prospect's scouting reports that compare them to established NBA stars?

The Knicks have never selected a European player, mostly with the thought that they would take too long to develop and Dolan doesn't want that.

Now flashforward to today and we are rumored to be taking one, one who will take some time to develop and people are getting pissed?

To me this signifies that the Knicks are in this for the long haul and they are not going to take the player who fits best for right now, but the player they think will be the best player overall.

btw, NBA Draft Net compares the Italian kid to Detlef Schrempf, not that it matters.

Well I mean high in the draft TMS, not these 2nd rounder guys... I meant as high lotto picks.

Overall I hate player comparisons because of how warped they prove to be. I'm pointing out the fact if we exercise the pick and if his best comparison is better than AB then that wouldn't entice me to take him.

in truth you really have no idea why you would oppose a kid like Gallinari as i see it... none of us know enough about him to say he'd be a horrible pick at #6, just like it's true in the reverse.
