Donnie stands firm on his getting under the cap proclaimation.

So.....what can be done to fix the roster without screwing the cap up?

I know you got on me for referencing the Zach/Cavs trade... ok so I "stole" eVil's idea without knowing SUE ME.

all jokes aside, I think a Ben Wallace for Zach deal would would be a nice lateral move. Ben's contract ends one year earlier than Zachs, ending at the end of the 2009/2010 season. I think Ben would play some D, play hard for D'Antoni and thats really it. His contract is 1 year shorter and we need to make trades like that.

We can take on more salary as long as it doesn't go through 2010.

You have to trade contracts with 1 and 3 years on them for contracts with 2 and 2 years on them.

That is a lot easier said than done though. There are proabably two or three teams out there with situations that match, so you're limiting yourself to a handfull of players that could potentially come back in a deal like that.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Zach for KMart... no effect on the cap & it helps both teams.

I don't know that it helps Denver at all. They already have AI and Melo combining for 45 shots a game. With Zach that's three guys who score one on one and need 20 shots to be happy.

I still say Cleveland is the best bet for Zach.

Thing with Clevland is they already have Big Z and his slow ass cloggin the lane. It all depends how they run things but Clevland would do well if they had another ball handler/perimeter scorer like Vince.

Don't get me wrong though, if they would do a ben for zach or evils joe smith and eric snow, then cha-ching!.......hey even better do ben for zach and joe/snow for vince.....make NY and BK happy.

i made the same exact point on another thread... CLE's biggest need is someone to take some of the pressure off of Lebron when teams double down on him on the perimeter... someone in the backcourt who can orchestrate & make plays off the dribble... they traded Hughes to get Big Ben in order to fill their big need for defense & muscle up front but Delonte West has not been able to fill Hughes' ability to create his own shot as effectively & provide that consistent 2nd scoring option on the perimeter... Jamal would be a more attractive option in a trade for CLE than Zach Randolph if u ask me... they don't want or need any part of that horrific contract that Zach has... at least Jamal is making about half & provides some scoring punch & ballhandling ability for them that they could really use... i don't see how Zach & Big Z in the frontcourt upgrades their team much at all... w/Big Ben & Varejao in the frontcourt, it allows Z to roam & look for his offense in the post, something that would be a problem w/Zach clogging up the lane alongside him IMO.

it would provide some balance scoring wise that they don't currently have... right now they rely on 2 perimeter players to provide almost all of their scoring punch w/no low post scoring presence whatsoever... they could use an inside option... AI is more than capable of orchestrating an offense if u ask me... a big 3 scoring punch of AI in the backcourt, Melo on the wing & Zach in the middle would be an upgrade, & they have Camby who patrols the paint defensively & also Nene on their books, so they can afford to lose KMart w/o giving up much... on the other hand, KMart would add some defense in the frontcourt that we are currently sorely lacking, along w/some toughness & attitude that guys like D Lee & Curry have never shown... i would love to play KMart as a SF alongside Lee & Curry in the frontcourt w/Chandler & Balk coming off the bench next year & see how it plays out under D'Antoni.

Zach helps denver more than Kmart helps the Knicks. Kmart is playing where? Where would Lee play? They could limit Curry and play Lee and Kmart together, especially in the east but is that better? Maybe......

hell yeah that's better... Curry can't run bro, u know this... he'd be coughing up his lungs by the end of the 1st quarter in a run & gun system, fuggetabodit.

Personally, I wanna see D coach what we have right now, to see if they can actually be coached and to see if in fact isiah simply couldn't coach at all. I want this first season under D to be a proving ground, one way or the other.

No matter how you look at it, we are not going anywhere for at least two years. Of course unless D'Antoni can completely get this bunch to turn around.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Whoa! Where did that come from? Do you think Golden State would do that or you just pulling our legs?

You know, Donnie did say in the press conference that he wanted to see how this club could play with D'Antoni as coach and sort it out that way.

I think there will be one slight change to an obvious problem and then more changes would be made during the season.

Kenyon Martin is made for the run and gun/ slash and finish style of D'Antoni. Lee, Martin, and wilson chandler would cause some problems for teams in an open court game. Martin can lead a break and make the lob pass and so can Lee. That's high octane. Martin can hit the Jumper and so can wilson......add Nate and Craw with their abilities to pass the rock and get up and down at it just seems hella interesting.

ZBo and Balkman for Shawn Marion. If Miami gets the first pick and select Beasely they would have a dynamic front court. Marion has an ending contract.

or ZBo for Wally.

Miami isn't gonna help us out w/that type of trade... anyway, Marion wasn't happy in Phoenix before playing in D'Antoni's system & wanted out for a while, didn't he?... plus he's got an expiring contract & ZBo has 2 more years left on his after next season, so the only way that goes down is if you sign Marion to a longterm contract extension & you'd probably have to throw in Nate instead of Balk since they're likely to draft Beasely anyway.

ZBo for Wally won't work either IMO cuz of the 2 extra years there... ZBo's just like that old Eddie Murphy joke about herpes... that sh** stays with you like luggage.

harrington makes 9 and 10 the next 2 years.
they have to extend ellis and biedrins and they have brandon wright.
they are not sure what to do with diddy.
i think this deal helps them cut payroll.

DJ I think your idea is doable if some kind of pick is involved. I think we'd have to throw in a 2nd rounder or maybe even a 1rst rounder with steep protection.

No way Denver does Zach for K-Mart. Denver although they aren't conventional as some suggest they should be they don't have a problem scoring and they won 50gms. Plus we take 1 of their only two players who play defense in K-Mart. They've gone on record saying their off-season will be dedicated to shoring up their defense, in the meantime they are exploring their options with possible trades and so far Camby and Melo's name are the ones being thrown out there... Camby because of his age and Melo because of his attitude.
