For those who want to watch another MSG Dog and Pony Show.

It'll be funny seeing Dolan, Mills, Walsh, D'Antoni and Isiah on the dais.

It would be the answer to the puzzle: Which 5 things don't go together?

I don't think they'll allow Isiah to be seen in public. Maybe he'll show up uninvited a la the Adrian Dantley dinner.

Isiah's so arrogant he won't be able to stay away. Maybe he'll borrow Bobby Valentine's fake moustache and glasses.

There's some truth to this. I've certainly met people that weren't happy with success unless the success was achieved 'their' way.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

So you're saying he wants to see the Knicks perform badly so he can be right? Or maybe he just wants what is best for the Knicks? Seriously, you can't blame the guy for being so negative. Too many people here get a hard-on for the new guy that walks in the door and too many times you get let down. I think isles approach is the best. I don't believe he minds being wrong at all if they succeed in the end.

I honestly don't think Isles is the guy you should be asking that question to. He's stated his reasons for wanting Mark Jackson already (whether we agree with them or not), some of the other guys that try to emulate what Isles does though are the ones who are the ones that question should be directed at.

Any new hire looks good when you have former guys like Laydumb and Isiah before you.

You guys forget so quickly.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I missed the thread.. so many. What wer the reasons that Mark Jackson with ZERO coaching experience would be the right person for this experience over a guy thats been coaching successfully for years now both in the NBA and Europe?

Mike and the Mad Dog are killing the move now too.

In what other situation would someone rip on a team for hiring the best coach available?

The logic seems to be that the team is terrible, so hire a coach with no experience so that you can tank it even more.

Might as well just shut the doors on the Garden and not let anyone in for two years.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

d'antoni will have the knicks win more games than last season, so the 2009 pick will most likely not be as good as the 2008 pick. and no pick in 2010.

which means the knicks better hit a homerun on this draft pick coming up. and probably should try their hardest to get another 1st round pick as well.

yeah, I think the biggest problem people have with D'Antoni coming is we need talent, plain and simple. Our best three ways of getting talent are the 2008 lotto, the 2009 lotto and the 2010 FA pool if we can get under the cap.

D'Antoni hurts the 2009 lotto pick because we'll win more games. But I also worry it will hurt the 2010 cap goal by leading to contracts for DLee and Nate to insure winning now, when we could probably trade each guy for top 10-15 pick in the next two years.

It would be the answer to the puzzle: Which 5 things don't go together?
tell me again why its a bad hire?D'Anotni Who did you want? Why?

D'Antoni is a bad hire because:

1) His system is a gimmicky quick fix. He doesn't care about defense or half court offense, 2 things that all championship teams have in common. It's an All-In move because if it doesn't work out with D'Antoni, you're stuck with a team built to run and gun. It'll take yet another roster turnover for the next coach, who hopefully understands that you build a team from the inside out.

2) It shows that the organization is looking to win as much as it can now, which doesn't jibe with rebuilding. The 2009 pick isn't going to be maximized. The 2008 and 2009 picks should have been the cornerstone to rebuilding this franchise. The 2008 pick has been compromised because Dolan let Isiah stay and try to save himself with meaningless late season wins. The 2009 pick is going to be compromised by the organization taking a win as much as we can now stance.

3) It tells me that Dolan, if not Isiah as well, is still very much involved in the decision making process and Walsh doesn't have the autonomy that we were told that he has.

4) It delays the rebuilding process by at least another 4 years. 2 years of 40 wins and flirting with the playoffs, a year of integrating whatever big move Walsh has planned for 2010 (if that's even the goal anymore) and a year to come to the realization that D'Antoni's "success" in Phoenix was mostly due to having a 2 time MVP PG and 2 freakishly athletic all star forwards. By then the Knicks will be the Denver Nuggets of the East. A team that wins 45-50 games a year but has no realistic chance of winning a championship. And that's the optimistic view.

I was willing to take a chance on someone like Mark Jackson. First of all, I think he's a good basketball mind and I think he knows NY and what to expect here. Secondly, I wanted the Knicks to lose as much as possible next year to maximize their 2009 pick. Letting a newbie coach learn on the job and go through growing pains isn't a bad thing. He would be able to grow along with the team. There wouldn't be a temptation for the quick fix since Jackson doesn't have a reputation to live up to. And if it didn't work, by the time the Knicks were ready to start competing, they could hire another more experienced coach without having to rebuild the roster again. In that regard, even Avery Johnson would have been a better hire. His personality might have ended his run here quickly but he would have instilled a work ethic, a defensive philosophy and taught half court offense. Fundamentals like that go a long way.

Now why do you and others think that these concerns aren't legitimate?
