One of the first plays Mike D'Antoni is expected to draw up as the Knicks' new coach is for Stephon Marbury to run up the Garden floor ... and out the door back to Phoenix to rejoin the Suns.

Once D'Antoni is formally named to succeed Isiah Thomas, he is expected to try to make a push for two of his favorite Suns - forward Boris Diaw and guard Leandro Barbosa, who reportedly have fallen out of favor with Suns management. According to a person close to D'Antoni, one of his first moves would be to get the Knicks to offer Marbury and his expiring $22 million contract as a central part of the deal.

That's awesome. An expiring deal for 2 overpaid role players. If that goes down, peopleshould be crying that they were celebrating the D'Antoni hire.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

that's basically the modern day equivalent of the Shandon Anderson/Howard Eisley deal.

Was everything that Dolan's Puppet said at his introductory press conference, complete and total bull****? If something like that happened, that would obviously be the case.

Diaw and Barbosa are both signed through 2012.

It was only a matter of time before a report came out like this. I'll believe it when I see it.

Here are the rules

Believe we're trading for Ford or Calderon articles but debunk we're trading for Barbosa or Diaw articles.

Don't tempt fate. Or Dolan.

during the season if someone told me we could get Barbosa and Diaw for Marbs I would have looked for a bottle of champagne to pop open.

Barbosa is better than Ford and everyone is slurping him.

Diaw would be huge for players like Craw and Chandler to play off of.

You'd have to add Raja Bell to make the salary match work though.

At some point you have to bring in players that can make the other players better. These two can do that.

Barbosa Mardy
Crawford Nate
Balkman Draft pick X
Chandler Lee
Diaw Jeffries

Imagine that group. Can you say beep beep?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

^You do realize this does nothing but destroy the cap and add role players? We wont be able to "add to" anything by destroying the cap and having crap on our roster. We need cap room. Desperately.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I believe Layden said the EXACT same thing when he brought in Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley for $80 million. These two make $54 million over the next four years and kill any cap flexibility we may have had. Neither one is a true starter and neither of them have a true position. They'll ease the transistion for D'Antoni, I guess.

But it's another trade that makes us better now and worse later.

Why can't Nate Robinson and Wilson Chandler/Balkman fill the roles of Barbosa and Diaw, respectively? at a fraction of the cost.

All those players and not a single solid NBA starter among them.

Can you imagine that "team" trying to stop anybody? Wow.

Walsh's goal is to be cap flexible by 2010, anything that doesn't work toward that end isn't going to happen.
