Spreewell and Ward and to Spurs in a sign and trade for Stephen Jackson and Speedy Claxton. Thats eighteen million avg next year among two guys signed to two to three year deals, young guys that would fit this team well. You could use Thomas and Williams in another deal during the season. Just a thought... fire away.

Frank Williams emergence changes the dynamics of Speedy Claxton. Again, Williams has to play... what are you going to do with Eisley? He's vitually untradable.

I agree with Pike. Let's give Frank Williams one more year. I hope he proves me wrong about his BBall IQ. On the trade, replace Speedy with Ginobli and we have a deal. They have a good chance of losing Ginobli next year and that might be enough to get Popovich to take Spree. Also, Popovich likes Spree.

Kwame Brown was a monster in last years summer league... Pike, I don't treat Williams emergence as a given. Also, Ginobili is a guy I really like but doubt San Antonio gives up on him for Spree. Let's hope I'm wrong.

I like Ginobili a lot... and we'd get a lot younger in the process... also, I'm not saying a few games makes Williams an all star or sure thing... That being said, I think it's too risky (based on what we could receive at this time) to let the guy go. It has Frank coming back to haunt us for years... written all over it.

you are kidding, right?

Let's look at Salaries:
Spree - $13.5M
Ward - $6.5M

I don't have the exact numbers, but Jackson and Claxson are both under $1M a year.

You said you DON'T watch summer league games. I've watched a bunch... and they're playing D. Most of the games end up in the 70's... watch first, then make your strong comment.

they are both FA... thats why I said sign and trade.... they'd have to be signed to similar numbers... can't that work?

Not unless you are going to give each of them $10M a year to match Spree and Ward.

Whoa I thought Wards contract would only be 2mill... not the the 6.5... and I thought spree was at 12.. So I was thinking overpay both Speedy and Jackson for shorter contracts. We would have to ridiculously overpay.

Well it's so bad that Popovich said he woudl not take Spree for Ginobli straight up. Ok, Ginobli is ok, but I don't see him getting to a level of a Petrovic or Stojakovic, yet they would NOT take Spree for him? Thats cold.

That tells you GM's know how much of a "CANCER" Spree can be at 13 mil a season even with his diminishing skillz. NOBODY WANTS THIS GUY!
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

It might be a good idea to hold on to Spree next season... GMs are salivating at the chance to pick up mediocre talent with expiring contracts to dump salary... Next year we will have a great Defensive player with heart and skills who also is about to expire... I'm thinking package him with a pick and we might be able to pick up a borderline all star... It would be foolish to trade spree now when he could be worth twice as much next year...
