"Summer Love

You never want to be too quick to make judgments in the summer league, especially when young players are involved. That's why the reports in the New York media the past few days about Maciej Lampe being a bust were flat out ridiculous. He's 18, played in Division 2 in Spain and missed almost all of the Knicks minicamp with a contract dispute with Real Madrid. You're not going to give him any time to adjust? He was awful his first game, decent in his second and had his real coming out party during game three versus the Mavs on Wednesday. Lampe dropped in 21 points in three quarters, grabbed four boards, hit two 3-pointers and showed that he's getting more comfortable playing with his back to the basket here at the Reebok Summer Pro League. The Knicks played him at center quite a bit on Wednesday and Lampe was aggressive fighting for position and showed several polished low-post moves around the basket. After the game, Lampe said he still has a long way to go. "I can still play a lot better than that," he said. "I want to grab ten rebounds tomorrow, that is my goal."

Speaking of the Knicks, Frank Williams and Mike Sweetney were also very impressive on Wednesday. Williams had 35 points on 10-for-21 shooting. Sweetney had 20 points and 13 boards on 7-for-12 shooting. Sweetney's aggressiveness on both ends of the court have everyone impressed, but Williams, despite his great numbers, isn't doing what the Knicks want him to do -- pass the ball. For the second straight game, Williams handed out just two assists."

... don't be surprised to see Williams go in deal somewhere.

Someone said that Herb didn't want Frank Williams to pass but to go strong to the basket and finish or hit the jumper. Those were the orders from Herb Williams. I think the KNicks have an agenda to get Frank Confident with the shot and then allow his passing game to come along.

to ask any rookie to come in and start contributing on a highest level is asking too much, it takes time, the nba is a major transition.

we got to give these guys a year or so. i'm not expecting much.

Frankie being traded...that was my own comment, he could push a deal for Ginobili over the top (getting Ginobilli would be a coup IMO). I'm not as well connected as these media guys, and haven't been to any summerleague games,... you? Let me answer for you.... no you haven't. You talked to any scouts lately... let me answer for you... no. If they have Vujanic and Williams and an Untradeable Vet (Eisley)... my guess is one of them is bait. If the Knicks see Williams as shoot first with Houston, Spree, and a Low post guy Sweetney, Lampe, McInjury etc... he's bait. They will most likely build his value before doing such a deal.

I agree, and another year of the lottery is not a bad thing. Imagine adding another talented young player to Lampe, Sweetney, and Frank Williams, and if we stand Pat with our Roster after next year we will have significant cap room after next season when Garnett and kobe are Free agents. Just imagine in 2 seasons we can have a real team that competes for a ring for the next 10 years!!!
Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

That said... Frank being shoot first... I don't really think of him like that. In college he was unselfish, could take people of the dribble, and dish. At times I thought he was better than Jay Williams.

Funny thing the papers have been talking about trades for the last two years with the Knicks just how many happened over the course of the two years. Let me answer that for you one. McDone deal thats right. These paper guys know nothing they get nothing out of talking to the scouts but who they like as player and the paper guys pick it up as there is interest. Lets get one thing straight the deals that happen never get leaked. What everyone is talking about is just sports writer who want the team to look a certain way. In a way they are actually like fans and writing columns for papers instead of the internet. Some of these writers would love to see the KNicks struggle so they can torch some of the players and management.

I thought he was one of the best college players after his sophomore year... heading for super stardom. Seems he's back on track... he's a very good passer, can penetrate and shoot. Plus, he's physically strong... we should keep Frank Williams.

I'm starting to like frank too. He should be the starter for the KNicks this season Eisley should be traded in a friendly package just get rid of his contract.

If you want to keep it real... we can trade Ward, not Eisley.

Sad but true. Only way you are trading Eisley is by packaging him with a young prospect or a huge expiring contract. Getting Eisley and Anderson for Rice is the biggest blunder that Layden has made. Bigger than the Kiki trade since we got Lampe and F Williams at least in that fiasco. Rice has a pretty huge expiring contract right now that would have accelerated our good fortunes with the cap situation.

Maybe package KT, Travis Knight and Eisley to NJ for Deke. They get expiring contract(TK) a good PF and backup PG.

NJ Lineup
C-Mourning
PF-KT
SF-K-Mart
SG-Jefferson
PG-Kidd

NY Lineup...hmmmm...still a work in progress...

When I read that the Knicks and Spurs were talking about swaping Ginobli and Williams in Isola's column in the News today, I laughed my @$$ off. Where the hell do they get their info from? A Magic 8-Ball?
