In spirit of a couple of threads on various Knick forums why not one big consolidated shaking of the roster tree to see who falls out (according to us, the fans) and who survives?

Here's your template:

.
.
.

Balkman:
Chandler:
Collins:
Crawford:
Curry:
James:
Jeffries:
Jones:
Lee:
Marbury:
Morris:
Randolph:
Richardson:
Robinson:
Rose:

.
.
.

*******************************************************

Balkman: Thrive (fast break finishes)
Chandler: Thrive
Collins: Die - too slow
Crawford: Die - low iq, ball stagnating low% chucker = doom
Curry: Could go either way - if used like CHI did? Maybe thrive.
James: He's a goner any way you slice it
Jeffries: He'd improve at least marginally
Jones: Goner, we need that slot for the 08 draft pick
Lee: Thrive (fast break finishes, backdoor cuts, etc)
Marbury: Could go either way honestly. Likely a goner though. Might play out contract, might be traded for that quick fix.
Morris: Unknown...
Randolph: Die - low iq, ball stagnating low% chucker = doom
Richardson: Die - maybe if he could hit a damn shot with regularity but he cant.
Robinson: Thrive - in fact, more than ANYONE he will thrive.
Rose: Probably a goner as he's done but might play out the contract.

Crawford could do pretty well under D'Antoni.

Believe it or not, I think Marbury could have a pretty good year if he remains. Not only because its a contract year for him....but D'Antoni's system calls for lots of pick and rolls which is one area where Marb actually thrives in. He will not run the offense like Nash, obviously, but his numbers should jump. Last time he played in a pick and roll offense it was under Lenny and he put up pretty good numbers.

Balkman: Will be inconsistant. Runs the floor but doesn't shoot well enough for MD
Chandler: Thrive= one of the few players who can play both sides of the ball.
Collins: Die= bench fodder
Crawford: Thrive= If he reverts back to curling off screens and away from playing with ball out top.
Curry: (agree with Cosmic, if he gets into shape ala Chi-days could be okay)
James: Will provide comedy for the lucky fans who sit next to the end of the bench.
Jeffries: Die= Can't shoot.
Jones: Gone
Lee: Thrive= multi skilled, garbage man.
Marbury: Thrive= can flourish in the pick and roll offense.
Morris: Will they resign him?
Randolph: Die= Hands are like fly-paper. So is his feet.
Richardson: Die= MD traded him away one time already. Will try again.
Robinson: Thrive= this system should fit him well
Rose: Die= Will sit next to James and Mardy and wait out his contract.

Balkman: thrive, good ball handler, runs
Chandler: not sure, think he'll do well
Collins: nah
Crawford: totally thrive, he's actually high iq, good open court, thrive
Curry: wild card, could actually do well, he's better in an open offense than a half court
James: lol
Jeffries: low skilled, might be in the rotation but wont do well
Jones: he might stick around, actually, one of the few "shooters" we have
Lee: thrive, great passer, good iq, good instincts for open court
Marbury: he won't be back. i can pretty much guarantee that. gone.
Morris: no idea. he's probably gone.
Randolph: ugh. wild card. hopefully he'll be gone. i think d'antoni will pick either he or curry. our best lineups on 82games.com last year had Lee and Zro in them though.
Richardson: relegated to spot duty. can't be relied upon to play well or shoot well anymore.
Robinson: THRIVE. perfect system for him. he and craw will have career years.
Rose: trade bait.

He was younger then. Besides (not to deflate your balloon, but....) as someone pointed out earlier, D and the Suns got immediate success when they got rid of suckbury and dumped him off on us. I bet D'Antoni never thought it would come back to haunt him. But he knows too that he only has one year left with him, if even that.
I'll never trust this' team again.

For those of you who know how tight me and Lee are, um saying that I think Chandler has a lot more potential and it's gonna be tested this year. So don't be surprised if we come out of this with a pretty good player this next year.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Wilson thrived in March and April, when he was finally given real minutes in real games. He was more successful at scoring, as a guard at 13 a game, vs. as a Forward at 8 a game. I can see Wilson being a big guard for us. Collins was supposed to be a big guard, but at 6'-8" for Wilson, that's a pretty big man who is capable of handling the ball.

those games in march and april were hardly "real." when we weren't tanking games to the likes of memphis and minnesota, we were beating teams that weren't trying like orlando and detroit. no way were those real games, outside of a handful, like the Atlanta game where Chandler played well. I'm not writing him off, but I want to see him do it in games that actually count.

First and foremost the Knicks need an orchestrater. A point guard is going to carry-out D'Antoni's vision on the court. Going into next season if our only available point guards are Stephon Marbury, Nate Robinson, and the Weezy D'Antoni's game plans become utterly moot.

Hey' I gotta a great idea!!! Let's re-sign suckbury and make him our star point guard again? It just might work!

I think Chandler will play some PF for D'Antoni.

I'm worried about a bit about Crawford- he isn't a good shooter. I trust D'Antoni to get the most out of him, I just don't think there is anything in Crawford that we haven't seen.

I don't think any coach would want both Curry & Zach- so clearly, one must go.

Man, watching Jamal Crawford throw up even crappier shots than before will be painful. Hopefully he's traded in the summer before he has the chance to do so.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Can I ask this? What exactly has changed? All the fat lazy and retarded still ave to go.......

Marbs, Q, Zach, Curry, Jared, Jerome, collins and Malik have to go! Nothing has changed with that. I believe Donnie was brought here to do that. He will do his best to make most of them disappear.

D'antoni likes ball players. He likes shot makers. He likes atheletes. Nate and Craw are perfect to run a more open scheme cuz both guys are above average ball handlers and able passers.

David Lee, Balkman, Wilson, Nate, Crawford? The Knicks would do well if they kept these guys.

Knicks have the lottery pick and they have Malik, Marbs and Jerome's contract to shop.

Right off the bat, Marion for Marbs is a major possibilty especialy with D'antoni here. Jermaine Oneal is also a guy out there. Shit, maybe even amare! Who knows? I know there will be some changes.....but nothing out of the ordinary list of pansies.

Jerome's contract? Nate passes? Crawford is crap.

Anyway we want to get under the cap, not go for the quick fix. There is no point in trading Malik or Marbury in that regard. Waive them or buy them out, yes.
