If anyone is watching the Cleveland/Boston series, you will see Lebron James playing 1 on 5.. the guy has no help and they are going to get swept by the Celtics. Lebron has visibly been annoyed at his lack of support in this series and you can tell the guy is already thinking of where he can play somewhere else, unless he gets help. If Cleveland wants to retain Lebron they are going to have make some moves for now, the first thing they need to do is get someone that can actually operate in the lowpost. That brings me to Zach Randolph. **GASP!!!! ZACH RANDOLPH WTFOMGBBQ**

Yeah, I know most people are going to say, Zach is a teamkiller, cancer, plays no defense, whatevever else you want to say. I agree with you. I also know that Zach has never played with a player as good as Lebron before and I think Lebron keeps Zach on a straight path and the two can coexist pretty well. Why? Lebron is a more than willing passer and he has confidence, too much confidence to a point, in his teammates, at least up until this playoff series anyways. Either way, I think Lebron would feed Zach enough to keep him happy and Zach is a capable scorer in and around the post, enough to give Lebron some help.

So with all that said, Zach for WallyZ (contract expires after next year) + 2008 Cavs 1st round pick. After the trade we buy Wally out and we move on. Mind you, Cleveland is going to be desperate enough to make a move like this after they get swept by the Celtics.

Ok, proceed to flame me for making a trade that actually has a team taking Zach off our hands

We don't even need the draft pick, a dump is a dump.

I think it has potential. But I can't see us getting a pick in return for Zach, based on his rep. If we can simply get cap relief, I think it's a win.

Although, if bitty becomes a Cavs fan based on this move, then I want a draft pick.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I agree with you guys, I'll take the trade as a straight dump, but believe it or not, I feel like we would actually be operating with the upper hand in this trade. Cleveland is going to be so desperate to get LeBron help, and to be honest, there aren't many players with Zachs skills (off court issues and cancer issues aside) that Cleveland would be able to attain, that I think we could pull a draft pick out of the deal. The Cavs honestly have no use for a draft pick at this point. They don't draft well and there pick is going to be in the 20's so it's not going to be someone that will have any impact on their team, for atleast a few years.

Believe me though, not getting a pick back is NOT a deal breaker for me, I just feel like we can squeeze it outta them.

There is no Isiah out there. I don't see Cleveland throwing away an expiring deal so they can take on a cancer with a giant contract.

This isn't a new trade suggestion or thought. It's been mentioned on the board before by a handful of posters. Or at least the idea of acquiring Wally. No way Cleveland throws in a pick and a straight swap has about a 10% chance of happening.

I think this is a good idea (but we probably cannot get a pick though). Even if we took back Wally and maybe a smaller bad contract, it is still a good deal to get from under Randolph's $16-$17 per year million deal. The main problem I see is that Clevland knows the Knicks are going to go after Lebron and this move would help put us in a position to do it. Unless they thought Randolph was the missing piece, which I doubt, they will be hesitant to do the deal. But I do agree that Randolph could help them. He just needs strong players around him to keep him in check.

in an earlier thread about this same thing- I brought up this same point- how does cleveland help put us in a position to be able to steal lebron?

Now- even if we did this trade- I still don't see us being able to recruit lebron away from cleveland. So maybe Cleveland thinks the same thing.

The question for Cleveland in this off season is what other players will be available to them?

There is no way they do this deal. I like it and has been suggested forever, but they are not taking on Zach because it Kills any flexibility. They would be better off looking at Jermaine O'Neal or someone with a shorter deal that brings more to the table, i don;t care if he has been injured.

Yeah I think Zach's stock is too low to have any takers. Maybe if this team does better at the start of the season we could fence him off. The guy will get his numbers...

i would do that, i would do zach for ben wallace straight up too. wally at least serves some sort of role on that team, ben wallace has been straight up brutal. wallace makes 14M/yr and expires after the 2010 season which is what walsh wants.

this move would clear Z-BO, and leave jeffries, crawford, and curry.

Nice idea NYK. Like what everyone else said, we're not getting a pick back. We don't need one. Just as long as zach is gone. If this happens, the only bad thing is we essentially traded Channing Frye away for an expiring Wally Z (Who I would NOT buyout.) I think we could have done a lot better, dealing with Frye. Oh well.

Zach for KMart straight up... DEN gains a post presence & we gain some defense in the frontcourt... contracts are a wash.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

nyk4ever--good call right path. I dopnt think that Wally Z would be a consideration but Ben Wallace sure could be. Big Ben=worthless right now--shot done. Now we would get rid of that last years on Zachs contract--that is all because Big ben is 3/10th of the player he was just two three years ago. But I agree with you with some kind of extar compensation like a pick.

A BIG Z Zach randolph Lebron James frontline is better than having BIG Z. They could use Zach much differently than we can and he would be better with a facilitator like James. People cabn poo poo this idea but flat out Zach is WAY WAY WAY better than Big Ben only has one less year on his contract and is shot. Zach under the right circumstance can play very well. If I can make an example--Zach Randolph nearly destroyed the Mavericks in the players the year they came back from 0-3. Zach is a 20-10 player he just needs to be with a good fit Clevland is a good fit especially because the owner is willing to pay out.

No one is taking Big ben off of their hands so if I was the Cleveland GM--I would do it. For the Knicks I need just a tad more than the last year--a lottery retricted pick or two 2nd rounders.

i have been talking about this trade for months on the board. zach and cleveland make a lot of sense together. we could trade zach for ben, zydrunas or wally.

How about Big Ben and pick 19 for Zach Randolph and Nate Robinson? That gives the Cavs the fire power that Lebron needs on and off the bench.

THat works for me. All their other pgs are more standstill shooters. Nate would give them someone who can create his own shot. Randolph would improve their scoring and eliminate the hack- a- ben issue they have now. Wallace would be our best center. The 19th pick ain't much, but we should be able to add a nice prospect or use that pick to package with maybe Curry to get rid of him. I would love to follow up that trade with a Curry and the 19th pick for S. Marion (who is expiring) and D. Cook (who I think is going to be a solid player).

That would leave us with hopefully, Rose/Marbury (also expiring), Crawford/Q/Cook, Marion/Chandler/Balkman, Lee/Jeffries, and Wallace. Malik Rose, Marbury, and Marion would all come off the books at the end of the '09 season. Then you build the team back up around (hopefully) D. Rose, Crawford, Cook, Chandler, Lee, and Balkman.
