I guess the Mavs don't play defense in the summer league either.

While it is nice that Sweetney and Lanpe had good games number wise I wonder what type of big men Dallas was playing. Never heard of their starters on the front line. We outrebounded them 52-26.

Nice to see that Frank-ster got 13-15 from the line. I gotta believe this means he is taking it to the whole. Nice.

Andrew - the important thing is Lampe finally broke out. doesnt matter if the talent wasnt top notch, the key right now is getting his confidence up. Remember Yao Ming was a scrub until one day he dropped 20 and 10 and ever since then he has performed pretty solid. Maybe Lampe will show signs of life from now on, I like that he had a bad 1st game, a mediocre second game and then a break out third. It shows he is making adjustments.

Good point, Oasis. I do recall people dissin' Yao Ming hard. It took a while for him to find a place in the Houston system since he missed summer league and some training camp.

I wonder about all of the critics of Lampe's slow feet--- are his feet just slow as far as being a SF is concerned? By comparison, the slow and broken feet of Ilgauskas are still good enough to make him a (statistically) dominating all-star big man-- Rik Smits too emerged from his slowness to be a big weapon. Lampe is going to be an absolutely fascinating prospect, esp. if the reports are true that he's due another 2-3 inches of growth.

again, Frank was great. Seemingly hitting all the big shots, driving at will, shutting down the opposing PG. The only thing is that Frank has absolutely no confidence in his teammates - and it shows. But why should he. Lampe scored. Yes, but he still looked lost, played passively against a soft Dallas group of scrubs that just couldn't get anything to fall. Sweets still will be Weatherspoon part two once he enters the league, as having his shot blocked the most. He gets to the line so much because he never gets that far off the floor on his forrays to the basket (usually within 5 feet) and gets contact with the player who is usually in his face. Lampe looks really sad out there, I wish he'd be aggressive and show some fire. Everyone looks like they are dead tired from partying the night before at the summer L.

Nice to see improvement in Lampe, though. You bring up an interesting point I've been thinking about. The Knicks have played 3 consecutive NOON games... meaning that they're either tired or asleep to start the game.

In addition, they've probably had the least time to practice before the game. Tough.

Exactly right... Williams needed to assert himself offensively and that is precisely what he appears to be doing.... keep it up Frank... only a Layden trade can stop you.

Dallas Frontcourt was Goree and Alston, two of the best American big men in Europe...
So very impressing by Lampe and sweetney. especially for Lampe, as Alston was Real Madrids starting center last year *g*

sweetney is too undersized with no hops - will get his guts crushed in the NBA.
