The point can't stressed enough Rose isn't a point guard. I'd say Paul's main strength is ball handling. He handles the ball like it's a yo-yo. Rose doesn't even have 50% of Paul's ball handling skill. Paul can go either way at 100%, Rose forget about him going left. There's no way Rose handles a ball for 35min/gm and proves to be effective as a point guard. Whoever drafts him better make him play a Monta Ellis role or play 2 gaurd.

Posted by TrueBlue: very possible, he has a PG's mentality, but maybe his skills lend themselves more towards a combo guard... I will say this that monta ellis doesn't go left either, that is his weak spot, but with that said, he still is virtually unstoppable at times..... go figure.. Posted by tkf: Are you kidding me did you see his very last dunk in the clip? He took off outside the Box and dunked it with the opposite hand over a dude. [Edited by - TrueBlue on 04-23-2008 6:45 PM] LMFAO @ the Bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephon_Marbury

Posted by TrueBlue: So since this guy can windmill dunk, and is a super athlete, he can't be a pg? He may not a throw-back pg in the molds of a John Stockton, but he fits into the new generation of athletic lead guards. Watching this clip, he reminds me of a more athletic version of Marbury. It has been proven in this league that you can win, and win big with lead guards running the show: Tony Parker Gary Payton Allen Iverson Mike Bibby Jason Terry (ran the point the yr the Mavs went to the finals) Sam Cassell Rajon Rando Just to name a few. |

So Is Eric Gordon
What Gordon has over all of them is range. Too bad he didn't have a better second half people are clouded on his abilities. When his wrist heals watch out LMFAO @ the Bio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephon_Marbury

Posted by tkf: Reminds me of Jay Williams in college.....I think this kid is going to be better than people are giving him credit for. Everyone wants to debate can he play point? Is he too small for the 2? Bump that, this kid can ball. What position did Sidney Moncrief play BTW? Paul Pressey? These guys had great careers, one boarder line HOF. Besides, as I said in an earlier post, you can win with lead guards. Ask Tony Parker. |

Posted by TrueBlue: What Grodon doesn't have is atleast a whole year under his belt testing out his pg skills, like Rose and Bayless did last year. That may drop his stock some, but the kid can ball as well. And I think he can be better than Ben Gordon, the guy he is constantly compared too. Eric is much stronger, and bigger. Can absorb contact and finsh at and above the rim. [Edited by - Uptown on 04-23-2008 7:59 PM] |

Posted by Elite: Those throw-back pg's, are few and far bewteen nowadays. As great as Chris Paul is, he's more Isiah than Stockton. Players of today are more athletic, they are bigger, stronger, run faster....and that is not just reserved for the bigger PF and SF's of today, but it includes PG's. The PG's of today are fast enough, athletic enough and big enough to get to the rim and finish themselves as oppose to having to dish it off to a finisher. These guys were the best players on thier teams in AAU circuits and probably had to score for thier teams to win. As they move up the ranks, from HS, to College and now the NBA, they have to adjust thier games a bit, but the scorer's mentality is still there. And thats no necessarily a bad thing. Would rather have the ball in the hands of a player who, if the play breaks down, can score himself or stick a jumper a la Bayless and oppose to having Brevin Knight unconfidently heaving up a haymaker as the clock expires. Posted by Uptown:Posted by tkf: good point, and I loved that bucks team with pressey, moncrief , Johnson and Junior bridgeman... Bayless is a player, I watched him at zona a bit this year, one thing he can do really well is hit that midrange jumper off the dribble....
