He looks good but lets remember Mardy Collins was average 12pt 5rbs 5ass 2stls at the end of the year, channing frye had some very nice games, lets not get ahead of ourselves here

I think the difference with Chandler is that he can actually shoot as well as play defense. Balkman and Collins are good role players, but their lack of offense limits what they can become. Chandler can be as good as any of the young SF in the league if he continues to work on his game.

Way to early to tell on him, I like his range, his body, his ability to block shots, but again Channing Frye looked so good for a month there were people iffy on moving him for Garnett.

Mardy looked somewhat polished last year on the offensive end getting to the rim, it's too early to tell.

We need to think about Mayo in the draft it looks like, adding another defender and brining in someone like lowry while getting rid of crawford.

I honestly think both of those guys (Frye and Mardy) just got injured and were never the same. It's too much of a coincidence that they both were playing so much better before having serious injuries.

someone else posted about this is regards to both Mardy and Frye.

Mardy is a flawed player even if he did put a run of games together. He needs to work on his shooting and a LOT of people also saw this.

Same with Frye. Outside of his sweet outside shot I know a bunch of folks who would have gladly seen him gone because we could see his lack of footwork and defensive instincts.

With Wilson there does not seem to be a lot of inherent flaws in his game. He is a two-way player so far. But we really haven't seen enough.

When did Wilson Chandler prove that there's something special in him???

If he can become a solid player off the bench on a good team, I would be ecstatic. But I guess some people want to use completely meaningless games to prove that they were "right" about something.

I hate Channing Fryes game. As a rookie you saw signs of good things and when a dude like that has the confidence in his jumper that he had then, you just start dreaming big...........he showed up the next season the same player with no improvements...he didn't even do the things he did well anymore. His play in Portland just proves that it had nothing to do with NY. No foot work, no post moves, no strength, bad instincts, poor rebounding skill, zero toughness....and he is just a seriously un-cool guy. What a waste. I know I've said that many times here but its just fun to me, lol.

Mardy isn't apoint guard. With that said, he isn't a 2 guard......with that said he has no motor.....with that said.....I dunno if the kid will be in the league in a few years.

I can't say anything bad about Chandler. I don't like his crossover moves......that's it. He still plays the angles good and drives hard, under control, and can finish. He may seem slow but he's always riding his man on defense and he manages to get up and down the floor well no matter the pace.

He's decent player. I'm not sure if the Knicks can find a player better than him to fill his spot unless its Beasley.....I can't think of anyone on the free agent market or trade block this off-season that is flat out better or worth the trouble.

For example, what does everyone think about al harrington? He could be available.....is Chandler better than al harrington? Now is al better than wilson? I think Wilson Chandler can become as good as Al Harrington just more under control and way more humble.

Just a thought. We all though Sweetney would stick.....I could be wrong again. Wison Chandler again has no problems physically. He's ripped and seemed to get bigger as the season when along.

I'm hoping for Wilson to make a name for himself in summer league and pre-season and just force the coaches to pencil him in as a starter next year.

Edit: I'm rooting for Wilson....but like the rest, If the dude doesn't bring improvements to his game next year and flat out beat pansy's like Q, Jared and Brickman.......then I will flame his like crazy!

Oh please God, no more overreacting to everything in summer league and pre-season. I want Chandler to make a name for himself during meaningful regular season games and becoming a solid player on a good team.

It has to start somewhere though Isles......

Time will tell. As a young player he has to get playing time. He's doing it now but this is obviously garbage games with teams basically playing pre-season basketball.

Next year he will be in summer league. He has to dominate them. Then he has to prove he belongs during pre-season and get the coaching staff to believe he is the guy they need to start at the 3 for the NY Knicks.

It has to happen this way. Its up to Wilson to prove beyond a shodow of a doubt that he belongs.

Isles - the Knicks need a real small fwd. If Wilson is not the guy......who is? What should the Knicks do about it?

I'm rooting for wilson cuz the dude is ours, you know? Knicks drafted him and he's cheap. If he can blossom in the way that Josh Howard did, or riichard Jefferson did or even Caron......not saying I think Wison should be an all-star, but why can't he at least be a player the Knicks can count on? We can all hope you know? That's all we got.....unless the Knicks trade for another player.......but like I said is a dude like al harrington what we want?

I suspect he probably did beat out Q, Jared and Balk during practice- Frye said as much from Portland that contracts mattered more than practice. Its possible he let up at times when he saw his effort didn't matter to Isiah- I can't blame him if he did.

As he's played, he's gotten better- he should have been getting these minutes back in December or January.

If I see Jeffries launch another wide open 3 pointer, I might just barf my brains out- doesn't he know he can't hit the shot? That isn't keeping the defense honest, its called giving them what they want!

And Q should have gone to the bench a long time ago in an effort to heal his back.

#1 Wilson never got a chance to show meaningful minutes during the reg season until now.

Isiah felt compelled to play guys he traded for making big bucks regardless if the performed or not.

With new leadership and coach everybody will have a chance to perform and win starting jobs or get into a regular rotation.

When I saw wilson's game , I saw things no sf on the roster was capable of doing.

Play defense , by blocking shots , knocking down mid range and long range shots and able to finish going strong to the hoop.

This kid never has shown fear in taking it to the rack.

All he needed was a chance to play alongside starters and go up against other teams starters on a regular basis.

Mardy has never given me the impression that he would be a very good player in the league.

I agree with you Eny. Any transformation that he has into a solid NBA player will start now and through the summer league and preseason. But I'm just saying that I hope people don't rush to make him out to be what he's not yet proven to be based on what amounts to glorified pick up games.

Donnie Walsh has 2+ years to find a real SF. With what should hopefully be 2 lottery picks and being well under the cap by 2010, I'll give it some time before I rush to say that anybody on the current roster has to be that guy.

This is Knicks fans special. We overrate our young players a lot. I remember we would not give d lee and/or channing frye for garnnet. If we had al jefferson we would call him the best pf in the league.

If you would go back a little and remember Chandler playing on the summer league, you saw glimpes of the rookie having all -around skills even though it was the summer league, same with nate robinson.

Nate in his 2nd yr got more playing time and has improved drastically with more playing time.

Wilson Chandler lacked just one thing IMO and that was meaningful playing time alongside other starters.

When you become comfortable as a rookie you tend to display your true talent regardless of how good your team is.

I will eat my hat if Chandler doesn't become a star in the league.

The thing I like about Chandler is that he shows potential in a lot of different areas. He has a well rounded game and can help the team in a lot of ways.
