if the preliminary reports are true and isiah is sticking around as coach of this team, i think it is up to us -- the most passionate and loyal knicks fans (who the hell else wastes time talking to strangers on the web) -- to organize some sort of protest to embarass dolan. perhaps on the day of the NBA draft, we can drown out stern every time he comes to the podium with "FIRE ISIAH" or "SELL THE KNICKS" chants. regardless, post any ideas about an effective knicks protest that would embarass the team, management, etc., maybe even the league so stern has to force his sneaky hand and get dolan out of here.

if isiah is still around, we MUST do something. we cannot let this oppression continue, WHAT has this guy done to merit YET ANOTHER SEASON! it is absolutely LUDICROUS. we have to organize and figure out a way for our voices to be heard.

i'll hold a 1 man protest in front of the Staples Center if that'll help.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

There's no point anymore man. It's not worth it. Dolan does not care you or results.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

If Dolan's big move is to hire a new front man with Isiah still here then there's no point in caring that much anymore. Nothing will ever change.

Does anybody honestly think that Isiah would give up all his power if he stays in any capacity?

If Isiah isn't fired as soon as the season is over, hiring Walsh means nothing and there's no point in caring again.

I don't understand why posters would think that the Walsh hire is just smoke and mirrors - that by keeping Isiah around it's all for naught.

Do you think Walsh would come to NY if he knew he was only a puppet? Or, do you think he would come here if he had to report to Isiah or if Isiah had any real influence?

Dolan likes to get value for his money, and he stupidly gave Isiah an unnecessary extension. He wants to make sure Zeke is not walking away with a free $20M.

Heck, I'd like Isiah to be around as coach for 1 more year so that the tanking continues and we get a high pick next year too!

People thought that hiring Larry Brown wasn't just smoke and mirrors.

Until they prove otherwise, that's all it is. Keeping Isiah around just exacerbates that.

what you are also suggesting is that after we all witnessed what happened to Larry Brown and the crap he was put through, Walsh moved over here willing to be put through the same?

Walsh gotta be a bit smarter than that.

For a $20M Golden Parachute, I wouldn't put it past anybody.

Listen, I'm very cautiously optimistic but any retention of Isiah will mean nothing but the status quo for a lot of people. It doesn't have to be done today (no matter how much I'd prefer that to be the case) but it has to happen. The sooner the better.

I have to agree with Martin. Walsh could have his pick of jobs. He is not coming to NY to join the drama. He's coming to change it. I think a couple of things clearly point to that. One is he reports directly and ONLY to Dolan. Another is he can change the media policy. The third (combo of first two) is he's got FULL control of all things basketball.

Also I dont think hiring Larry was smoke and mirrors. I think MSG believed he was the missing piece to making this thing take off. Problem was he got here and said the thing he was supposed to be taking off with sucked, and should be blown up. Thus the power struggle begins, two ego-maniacs go to town on each other and the rest is history. Looks like Larry Brown was right about pretty much everything he said and did.

I think this is the BEST possible thing we could have asked for. Giving FULL CONTROL and final say to a guy with a great track record both with basketball and his personal relations around the league. There is a reason nobody has anything bad to say about this guy. He just works hard, wrongs nobody (except Portland), built two successfull teams and deals with everyone; media and the league with class and respect. And now he's got full and final say in all things Knicks basketball.

Its a layup (but not one from Jeffries)

Remove Isiah from the equation and I agree with everything you just said.

Doesn't the prospect of Isiah remaining here give you guys even a moment of pause?

I get the feeling of a possible riot at the draft if Isiah's still here.

Again, as Martin mentioned in this thread, there is no way a man of Walsh's integrity is taking this job, as president, to be a yes man to coach Isiah. It makes no sense. Only in Larry Browns warped world would one believe the coach should have more power than the president of the franchise. This time the tables have turned and Isiah is trying on Browns shoes and hopefully he'll be conducting roadside interviews in the comming weeks only to vanish, either behind the scenes as a powerless consultant or will be completely eraticated from the franchise.

I don't get why people are so nervous about Isiah staying right now. I haven't seen anything that suggests Isiah will be the coach here in the long-term. Yes, he'll probably stay here to finish out the season as coach, but who cares? The season is basically done anyway.

Walsh isn't the type of guy who will just come here and bow down to Dolan and Isiah. Walsh will have full control and he will bring in HIS people. I can't possibly believe that there is anyway Isiah will be coaching here next year. The only scenario where I can see Isiah staying is in a minor front office role like "scout" or "assistant to GM," etc.

We're nervous because once upon a time, Isiah was one of HIS people.

Im down for a protest. James Dolan is a fat overlord, roman senator who arrogantly forces his will on people because he was lucky enough to be born into his position.

Its an INSULT to keep Isiah as a coach. Its insulting to the players, its insulting to the organization and to the fans. But Dolan doesnt care. Theres a problem? Cant be what the fans or media think it is. Isiah just made some bad trades, thats all. I would LOVE to not only portest but spit in Dolan's face.

Let's do it! The revolution is at hand. The man can no longer keep us down. I recommend you bring your gas masks cuz it's gonna get ugly. Dolan's thugs are bound to use tear gas and rubber bullets.

We need to be ready to throw those mother****ing cannisters back at Dolan's goon squad. We should assign a subgroup, including Nalod and Islefan, to take over the Garden administrative office and communications operation. Once we control those it will be a fate accomplis. We will control MSG.
