(cut and pasted in reference to answering Knicks most pressing backcourt needs)

1. A gym rat, really works hard to improve … Has a great attitude, extremely coach-able

2. Solid passer with unselfishness, always looks for the open man... Can handle the rock well and gets into the lane effortlessly... Solid passer who shows the ability to play the point guard position ...

3. Really excels defensively and has a chance to develop into a great defender … His anticipation for steals and his on ball defensive ability are special ... Huge wingspan allows him to play much bigger than his 6-3 height...Athletic and explosive (combo) guard with the length to make up for his lack of height (only if he plays the 2)

4. Attacks the basket with a lethal first step and crossover ability… Finishes well at the rim and is unafraid to go up in traffic … Gets good lift on his jumpshot and has a quick release …Has an excellent mid-range game …Has the potential to be a bigtime scorer when given the chance …

5. (weaknesses that matter) Must become better at handling ball pressure at the point guard position ... Must continue to improve his body strength … UCLA system will likely limit his ability to fully showcase himself ... Needs to imprve upon his free throw shooting (55%) ...(yeesh)

Steven (Toronto): Where do you see the 2 Euros - Gallinari and Batum landing?

Chad Ford: A lot of GMs are cooling on Gallinari a bit. They worry about his lack of athleticism and his streaky long range jumper. He goes anywhere from 8 to 15 probably. Batum started the year as a potential lottery pick, but he's been so disappointing this year that I think it's more likely that he goes somewhere from 15 to 25.

Westbrook needs a good tournament to come out. He hasn't had it so far.
However, ucla does have 3 highly rated guard prospects coming in next season. So, it might happen anyway.

It might be more interesting to talk about him after tonight's game.

Already wayyyyyy too many questions for a college kid.
I'll never trust this' team again.

He looks like he is two years 20 pounds a consistent jumpshot away from being a legit first round pick--he is NOT ready for the NBA--he's way to skinny with way to many holes at this point. If this kid comes out he is making a mistake and any team reaching for him in the top 20 better be prepared to have him in the D league.

How about Derrick Caracter coming out? What a mistake that would be...

No, his defense is already first class. He has shown the character to work on his game. He has improved immensely from his first year. He will put on more muscle by next year, although obviously he doesn't have the frame of a guy like rose or mayo. He's the type of guy we should be happy to have at 5 although you can't pick him higher than that. When Collison wasn't around at the beginning of the year, he was put in the pg spot and he did well with it. He has all the tools to succeed. His jumpshot will improve just like it did from the first year he played. He will just get better and better.

LOL--a skinny 6-3 combo guard who cant shoot--we should be happy taking him 5? he needs to learn how to shoot before he gets to the NBA--you don't take a raw skinny 6-3 player with pick 5 dude.

14-11-5 in the box score (for a non-starter) ain't bad

4949 - the questions you cite are listed for each and every player at NBADraft.net. Every single young player has flaws. The idea is to identify the flaws which can be fixed with the least amount of pain and suffering.

Skinny is not something that is a deal breaker in my book

... with that said, I'd insert the a-gile and mo-bile Brook Lopez next to David Lee (with The Mayor at the three spot) and call it a day.

I can live with that. I want the Knicks to have an open mind rather than choosing a player months before the draft and promising them which they have done. I want them to take serious looks at Anthony Randolph Javale Mcgee and Kosta Koufus[who will be at the Garden next week]

Did somebody say lead guard?

"And so the Raptors find themselves in a place they never thought they'd be: at least pondering their future without him, albeit with a long way to go before decision time. Colangelo, in no mood to ponder July with three weeks until playoff time, offered this.

"If we get to that point this summer where we feel it's not going to work (with Calderon and Ford) going forward," he said, "then we'll have some decisions to make . . ."

If we took any 6'3" guard at 5 it would be Bayless, who at least we know has an offensive game and can pass. I like Westbrook, but not as a top-10 pick.

Completely agree. Westbrook is, by far, a better prospect than overhyped guys like Mayo & Gordon. I was also extremely impressed by L'villes Terrence Williams last night.

purple - thank you for looking beyond the hype. Players like Mayo, who maneuver their way through high school and college based primarily on their NBA agenda and hype - over personal growth and sweat equity - bother me.

The best line from the Westbrook summary by far:

1. "A gym rat, really works hard to improve … Has a great attitude, extremely coach-able..."
