He pretty much stated most of what nysportsfan11 has already stated. He just said the media is being embarrassingly irresponsible with their reporting and are straight up guessing.

He said a few things but the main highlights that caught my attention were

-Donnie Walsh does not currently have a contract with the Pacers and could leave any time he wants. He hasn't had a contract with them for quite some time

-Donnie was looking to leave as far back as 2yrs ago

-Donnie doesn't care for Carlisle and thought he should have been fired by Bird a yr before Bird fired him

-He was asked to stay to advise and when he met with Mr. Simon for about a half hour at his house to inform him he was definitely leaving he was asked for recommendations. This suggest he gave them confidence Bird could right the ship

-Donnie will make his decision when he's ready to and it will more than likely be at season's end

-No contract with the Knicks is in place

-He will definitely become an employee of MSG at season's end

Peter Vescey chastising the media? LOL. That guy is a straight up clown. Dude is worse than all of the other guys out there. I mean he works with Berman and the Post for God sake. Don't believe anything Vescey says because it is always wrong and made up.

The real fact is, he is still under contract and has to wait for the season to end. It doesn't matter what the media says. We'll just have to wait and see what he really wants to do.
I'll never trust this' team again.

He said he doesn't have a contract with the Pacers and hasn't had one, at least not one that binds him to the team.

Interesting. I didn't see that right away and don't recall hearing that before. And he hasn't made a decision on what he wants to do yet? I suppose he is waiting for the season to end, just out of respect. But without a contract? How did he do that?

Suddenly red flags are going up all around me. Why I ask?

Well if Donnie was under contract wouldn't their be some fines dropped down by the nba? Also if a contract was in place, wouldn't Indiana need compensation in the form of a draft pick?

Its weird. Whatever though.....as long as Isiah is put out of his misery.

Donald doesn't have a contract with the Pacers? Was he working for free?

he might be on an 'at will' agreement - the kind us normal people get- not sure.

I'm ok with the facts as I see them- the only thing I worry about is if Walsh is coming to rescue Isiah.

I've thought Isiah was a decent coach- he was better last year than this year.

But for psychic cleaning purposes, he needs to go. If he dangles for the remainder of the season, then ok- there has been enough smoke during his four years to substantiate that he is a scumbag, so he probably does deserve it.

If only we could get either Dolan or Walsh to go on Letterman, and with a lauch, say, oh yes, I'm keeping isiah.

And escort his sorry azz out the next day!

Yeah, I thought about that too. If he was under contract, the Knicks could not talk to him and certainly could not reach an agreement unless the Pacers gave them permission. No one has said the Pacers gave them permission so maybe he is right in saying that Walsh was not under a contract with Indy.

I find the last two quotes odd.. he has no contract in place with the knicks, but is definately going to become an employee of MSG at seasons end? I mean WTF? to make that last bold prediction would lead you to believe that there is some sort of contract in place... what is pete talking about?

tkf, I think he means that the Knicks and Walsh have a verbal agreement and are waiting until after the season to sign a contract.

Donnie's contract has been expired. He was supposed to be retiring/leaving so they never bothered to sign him to a new deal.

Pete may be absolutely crazy, weird and ridiculous any other time, but there are two things you can always count on him for:

1) He knows the Pacers

2) He was there. And by there, I mean no one in the NY media (outside of the Times) writes about NY basketball the way Pete does because they weren't there. Vecsey knows EVERYONE who ever came up through NY basketball. It's just that he's a lazy, bitter ****er who hates almost everyone in the league and media and takes out personal vendettas in his writing. But he knows his NY basketball history because he was there.

His son Joe is the same way - a bitter bastard who's more comfortable being the only white guy in the room, gym or park, hates everyone and has a severe problem with authority. But he's so bitter that it's comical.

The Vecseys are very close to the Pacers. Joe is good friends with Tinsley and grew up hanging around/running behind Mark and Troy Jackson. Pete and Donnie have been close for YEARS, going back to Donnie's Fordham days.

Vecsey 's a hustler. Don't pay his rambling articles any mind. He knows he's made a living off of being a character of himself. When he was writing straight up, no one read his ****. That's why he writes for the Post of all papers.

That's the way I see it also. That's the only way it can play out right now. We're in no hurry here. Let's all see what happens.
