Why? And I don't get the call for Calipari. What has either done?

Same question on why? If anything Jax has shown more of a predlicition for coaching.

Martin, on Calipari- I think he's done a great job of recuriting athletes without the big brand name. He has an eye for talent and I think he deserves another shot at the NBA at some point (if he wants it). But yeah, mostly a coach.

Mark has 17 years of NBA playing experience. He's from NY--When you listen to him talk---he knows so much about the evaulation side of the game---he knows the game--knows what type of players you need to win. He's highly intelligent savy with good charachter. He's young he's energetic--there are so many +s with mark and I like Greg ASnthony as his sidekick.

Calipari already has a lot of nBA expereince--he's also young with a tremendous eye for talent. He tried to convince Nets ownershgip to take Kobe Bryant no matter what and was over ruled. He's also highly intelligent a motivator a great talent evaluator media + NY savvy.

Calipari has a very questionable track record in the NBA. I don't think he'll succeed here. I would actually be surprised if he wanted to come back.

I like Mark Jackson, but it's hard to know enough about him. I would love to bring in a Jerry Colangelo and bring in Mark Jackson to learn under him and be his successor. We need someone who will be entrenched in their ways enough to get their plan rolling and not be influenced by Dolan. I'd worry about bringing someone too green in here - I'd worry they'd just be threatened and bossed around by Jimmy Jazz.

I think Calipari has the ego and drive to be successful as an NBA coach. I thought he did a great job in NJ and lost his locker room because of the strike and losing Cassell. He would not be my first choice but he does well with young players and I think he would build the Knicks back up. He also is very respected by some guys who have had alot of success in the NBA.

Isn't that what people were saying about Isiah? I like Jax and he is as bball savvy as anyone in the world, but I'm just not a fan at all of hiring anyone with no front office experience into a role where they have to do a lot more than player eval. Being a GM is just as much about weighing value and managing resources as it is about player eval.

I've mentioned Greg Anthony as GM for while. Would love to wee him get a shot here but I doubt Dolan will go with an inexperienced GM if ousters Isiah. He needs to hit a HR with this one and I'm not sure he'd take a shot at Greg.

I think KiKi is experienced and safe, but his contract I believe runs until after the draft which isn't good for us. Colangelo would as fot too much power for Dolan so I doubt he gets the job. Not sure where he would turn next. Hoepfully, its not Mills' friend, Billy King.

Colangelo should be #1 priority right now... if he doesn't want the gig, then you turn to guys like Walsh or West... Kiki's not 1 of the top options but he's at least got experience... i don't want Jax running personnel decisions, i want him coaching the guys on the roster once our GM acquires them... i think he's an extremely intelligent & wily player with tons of experience & knowledge that he can impart on our young kids, but he has zero experience as a GM & i don't wanna go through another 4 years of ineptitude at the GM position.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, I don't want Dolan hiring ANOTHER GM without a track record of excellence! Scott Layden! Isiah Thomas! Ugh!!! Dolan admits he knows nothing about basketball, so how could he accurately judge some upstart's ability to manage a team? No, I want a guy with a track record of being at least mediocre... I don't trust Dolan's ability to assess whether or not Jax would be a good candidate. Otherwise, I'd say: why not give him an interview?

I pretty much agree about the lack of experience- especially here in nyc.

it will be interesting to see how steve kerr does in phoenix- I didn't think the move for Shaq would work out- but they seemed to have adjusted nicely.

though i am a HUGE mark jax fan ( probably my top 5 knick of all time), i can't see him being a gm. i think he would be an exceptional coach though because of his knowledge and the way he teaches the game. as far as calipari, he did have some success with the nets team but it fell apart quickly. i don't see him taking over this job.

Mark Jackson brings more fire and style to the sideline. At 43 years old, he is a perfect age to bridge the old school/new school gap when the Knicks draft Brook Lopez and pair him with David Lee and The Mayor in the frontcourt.

Backcourt floor organizer?

Piece of cake. Rick Brunson makes a comeback.

I think Jax looks good because he has not screwed up.

Has not done a thing either.

can't all gm's with an extensive track record point to some failures? I mean the law of pecentages say it happens.

Even SA gave away Scola!

I was gonna say the same thing. All that stuff about Mark applies to Isiah except Isiah was the far better player.
