promising contributions from the youth...

Chandler 15 pnts/ 8 reb./1 block/ 2 steals in 33 min.
Balkman 11 pnts/ 5 reb./ 1 block/ 2 steals in 27 min.

Thats 26 points 13 reb. 2 blocks and 4 steals out of the SF position...

Collins 4 assists/ 7 reb./ 1 block/ 1 steal and 8 points in 24 min.

There's nothing special about these role players.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

ummm . . they played 60 minutes, so you're adding a quarter of pf play.

fair point...
I guess my contention here is that the Knicks have fielded players that excelled at only one thing, singular dimensional play, for the longest time... these numbers truly reflect a future where players bring a more nuanced balance of abilities and a team game.

Our kids didn't do anything special from what other teams kids are doing.

They did something special compared to the majority of the players on our roster this year...their numbers reflect defense, rebounding and the ability to instigate on offense.

No they don't.

Their numbers indicate that they are putting decent numbers on a losing team to close out a terrible season. Remember everyone bowing to the great Mardy Collins this time last year? Look at him now. He was never a good player to begin with.

Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Don't forget about Balkman either. He already proved he won't be much in the NBA.

I still see Mardy at best being a Charlie Ward, Chandler as an athletic Bryon Rusell while Balkman is still a question. All solid role players but definitely worth a roster spot on the Knicks. The question is can Isiah get the "stars" we need to lift this franchise, the youths fill a need but are not the answer!

Absolutely correct. NOTHING will change this team besides a franchise player. Isiah can go or stay, but things will not change until we have someone who brings it on a nightly basis.

That's what happens when you're dealing with the worst run franchise in professional sports. What did you expect?

How good can someone possibly be when they have NO jump shot what so ever ? He's been missing a lot of lay ups lately, again which I have no idea why. Then theres the free throw shooting, that's a whole different story ?

with the above facts, how good do you expect him to be ?

i don't know how good he'll be... just curious how good was Bruce Bowen's jumper when he broke into the NBA? Ben Wallace? did Gerald Wallace even show his full potential until he was given a legitimate shot to showcase himself? i know even bringing up names like those will spur some people to automatically assume i'm comparing Balk's skills right now to those players in their primes, but for those who are able to comprehend points without inserting their own interpretations into someone else's words, let me just say that those guys all came into their own after more time in the league than Balkman's had so far... not sure how anyone can definitively say that Balkman's never going to be much in the NBA after only 2 years of sometimes sporadic play & use in a completely disjointed & nonsensical offensive system w/no PG & no leader whatsoever.

what i believe is that Balkman is a player that hasn't yet shown how good he can be... i've seen him show enough in games to believe he can be very effective in the right system... put him on a run & gun team w/a PG who knows how to orchestrate an uptempo offense & i think he can grow into a pretty good player... how good is anyone's guess... the same can be applied to plenty of other young players around the league who've shown some good things in spurts but haven't been able to sustain it over any appreciable length of time, whether due to limited minutes or just plain inconsistent play.

Balkman stinks. Solace was right. Case closed.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

You guys are so extreme...

Balkman is a very effective role player who has the misfortune of laying on an awful and selfish team.

Alright, I cant for the life of me figure out why some here insist on tearing down 1st and 2nd year players. Zeke, yeah. Dolan, ok. Marbury, lets land a plane on his forehead. But Balkman and Chandler?? Both are works in progress and in Chandler's case he is barely getting his feet wet and the flashes we've seen from him have been more than encouraging.
