If you had to haul around 350 pounds of KFC everyday, you'd tear cartilage in your knee too. Cut him some slack.

Curry Has Tear in Knee; Will Try to Play

By HOWARD BECK
Published: March 10, 2008
Eddy Curry will try to play again this season, despite a cartilage tear in his right knee that will probably require surgery at some point.

A magnetic resonance imaging test taken Sunday showed a small vertical cartilage tear, the Knicks announced. The tear is unlikely to heal on its own. However, team doctors say Curry can continue to play without making the tear worse.

Curry has told team officials that he wants to keep playing and postpone the operation until after the season. The Knicks (18-45) have 19 games left and nothing to play for, but Curry is trying to salvage his own disappointing season. He played well in three games last week before injuring the knee in Friday’s loss to the Detroit Pistons.

The knee swelled overnight, and Curry sat out Saturday’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. He is still bothered by the swelling and will not play in Monday’s game in Dallas. If the swelling subsides in the next two days, Curry could join the team for Wednesday’s game in Miami.

Isiah just has these excuses read-made for him when the going gets tough. Amazing.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

do u guys think it's in our best interest for Curry to sit the remainder of games or to have him play well down the stretch & increase his trade value?

he should not be allowed to play.

to colorfl1- how are we going to trade him? I'd like to think that other GMs can see what Curry can do, and that this season for him was a disaster between Zach, Marbury & Isiah.

Yes, I am an optimist.

Curry has a reasonable salary, he is young, and he is very effective at scoring.

Its easy enough to find a PF who can board and play defense to complement Curry- think Reggie Evans on philly.

I would put Curry on ice and see what Zach can do as the focus of the offense & try to build his value.

And then there is that other guy, randolph morris.

Ken Bannister played more than Morris. Makes you wonder.

Curry needs to sit out. With Zach and Eddy both unavailable, we'll just keep losing games and increase our lottery odds. Its time we look forward to that instead of the current roster's trade value, they're all just as good as dead.

If it is true that the game is getting faster and the team will forever be flawed with him as our starting C, then we should dedicate all our playing time to find out what we have in Morris and Jefferies at the C.

I think Curry is still young and big C often take a long time to develop...
the problem with Curry is he lacks competitive hunger and a killer instinct...

A team with a winning climate would be interested in taking a flyer in his skills...

I was however hoping that we could trade him in a package to the Pacers for Jermaine Oneal.

Curry probably has been playing with this tear all season. I bet if they check his shoulder from when he hurt it early in pre-season they'd find some kind of small damage. Just like Marbury doing exploratory check-up on his ankle and they found floating bone chips. This is an excuse and it's DISGRACEFUL. The fact doctors say he can still play on the knee shows how non serious the injury is.

Well, maybe it's serious and the Knicks as an organization are selfish and are doing whatever it takes to help themselves, even if it means ruining a players career. We've done it a million other times, why not now?

You have to sit him for the rest of the season. The season has been over no point making matters worse then they alread are. If Curry plays another game than the NYK doctors and Isiah's head needs to be examined. Shut Curry down but make an emphasis that his knees can't carry such a heavy load around. Come back in shape and keep him in NY for all summer rehab.

It's not an exuse but more indication of Isiah being bad in selecting lazy, fat, ingury-prone players.
Not to mention they are bums. But its OK. Isiah is a bum of GM/coach himself so this is all logical.

If he didn't play well without torn cartilage, why would he start playing well with it?!

Exactly. This injury is going to keep Curry off his feet and hence his weight is going to balloon. Next year he will be in worse shape than he was this year.

dunno if u watched the past few games but IMO he has looked better & more active since Zach went down, at least offensively... i think it's a fair question to ask... if we sit him his trade value only gets worse, but Randolph Morris at least gets an extended look... if we play him, he runs the risk of worsening the injury but there's also the potential to finish out the season strong statistically & get some teams interested in him that might have lost interest earlier in the season.
