So is there anybody from UltimateKnicks residing in Tokyo at the moment?!? Would be fun to meet for a game and a little chat...

Oh and of course Im open for any good advice anybody has on this city or Japan in general, as I am still really new to the area!!!

Yeah, I'm envious also. Hadn't been there in a while. Yoyogi is crazy on Sundays, very popular park. I'll be going to Hong Kong later this month. Might try to get to Japan next winter. U Da Man...... If you have a lady/girlfriend/wife....you will be tested

I'm aching to go to Tokyo. To live there for 6 months. That should be sweet.

I can't make that trip this year but I am scheming on a trip out there in 2009, maybe in June.

Any insight fellas?

What are some places you plan to hit Doger besides Yoyogi? I'm hating on you and mad excited for you at the same time!

Wow Tokyo? That's awesome. I've always wanted to goto either Japan or China, everything seems so different to me over there. Have a good time Dodger.

Only been to the airport (wish I could have checked it out), on the way to Taipei, which btw is a VERY underrated spot to go in East Asia.

All you Asian-fetish folks could probably have a field day with the ladies there, not that I encourage such behavior.

Thanks guys!!! Im really enjoying the trip a lot so far!!! And actually this huge cultural difference made me wanna go there to in the first place! I got lucky and got a scholarship to do some part of my Ph.D. on Japanese families in modern times working environment. It really is a great experience!!!
Cant give you too many traveling advices yet, as I just really came here but in Tokyo Shibuya and Shinjuku at night seem to be really interesting, I also liked Assakusa and some of the old Temple Shrines in Tokyo to... you really find them everywhere and its very interesting how good they seem to blend into the urban environment and everyday life of the people here!
Yoyogi at the weekend really is fun... crazy and weired sight everywhere (last weekend there was a Rave during mid day in bright sunlight - the people dancing there had their little kids with them!)
Outside of Tokyo I wanna see Niku and Nara soon... Must be beautiful!!!
Ill keep you guys updatend!!!
And of course its nice to represent the Knicks fans a little in Asia!!!

i loved this place, not too far from tokyo:

Kamakura (鎌倉市 Kamakura-shi?) is a city located in Kanagawa, Japan, about 50 km south-south-west of Tokyo (to which it is linked by the railway line to Yokosuka).
It is sometimes considered a former de facto capital of Japan, as the seat of the Regent and Shogunate during the Kamakura Period. According to The Institute for Research on World-Systems,[1] Kamakura was the 4th largest city in the world in 1250 A.D., with 200,000 people, and Japan's largest, eclipsing Kyoto by 1200 A.D.
As of January 1, 2008, the city has an estimated population of 173,588 and a density of 4,380 persons per km². The total area is 39.60 km².
Kamakura was designated as a city on November 3, 1939.

Crowds of visitors in Kamakura
(Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine)

Great Buddha at Kōtoku-in

Surrounded by mountains on three sides and the open water of Sagami Bay on the fourth, Kamakura is a natural fortress. During the Heian period it was the chief city of the Kantō region, and from the 12th through 14th centuries the Minamoto shoguns ruled Japan from here under what is known as the Kamakura Shogunate.
Kamakura is now mainly known for its temples and shrines. Kōtoku-in, with the monumental outdoor bronze statue of Amida Buddha, is the most famous of these. A 15th Century tsunami destroyed the temple that once housed the Great Buddha, but the statue survived and has remained outdoors ever since. Magnificent Zen temples like Kencho-ji and Engaku-ji; the Tokei-ji (a nunnery that was a refuge for women who wanted to divorce their husbands); the Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine; the Hase-dera, an ancient Kannon temple; the graves of Minamoto no Yoritomo and Hōjō Masako; and the Kamakura-gu where Prince Morinaga was executed, top the list of Kamakura's most famous historical and religious sites.
Kamakura has a beach which, in combination with the temples and the proximity to Tokyo, makes it a popular tourist destination. The city is well-provided with restaurants and other tourist-oriented amenities.
Kamakura is home to a microbrewery. The beer produced is only available locally and in bottles, and the range includes a pale ale, a pilsner style lager, and a stout.[2]
Kamakura is also noted for its senbei, which are crisp rice cakes grilled and sold fresh along the main shopping street. These are very popular with tourists, especially Japanese tourists.
Kamakura is also the terminal for the Enoshima Electric Railway, locally known as "Eno-den". This traditional narrow gauge railway runs to Fujisawa, to the west, and part of its route runs parallel to the seashore.

Hopefully I will be there between March 18 thru either the 26th or 28th. Still waiting on some last minute stuff to pan out. Where are you going on the Mainland?

Land in Hong Kong on the 21st and then going to Shenzhen for a few days. I come back to Hong Kong on the 29th and flying back home on the 30th. I'm basically just flying in and out of Hong Kong, not doing much there.
