The intrigue surrounding Lampe's fall from projected lottery pick to second-rounder was captured by MSGNetwork, which will air footage from inside the Knicks' war room on tonight's "Angles." Don't miss it tonight people. THIS WILL BE A CLASSIC!

like I mentioned after the draft... let's not make Layden out to be a genius... we got him in the second round in spite of all Scottie's rhetoric (lampe being a "definite lottery pick") and unsuccessful efforts to trade up. In the end it worked out... Layden was very fortunate.

Pike we all know what happened, he was a genius when he traded for Mcdyess and got two picks in 2nd rd of this yrs draft. And just so happen 2nd rd picks arent a guarantee and we got lampe who had issues with his contract. If west would have done that , you my friend would have singing his praises.

playa in case you haven't noticed he traded a lottery pick also

playa in case you haven't noticed antonio mcdyess has had 2 more knee surgeries since... you remember you told me that i was a fool to think mcdyess knees were shot... and that a lottery pick is no guarantee and that mcdyess is the HERE and NOW... i remember you kept telling me about it being the same injury that karl malone had ...blah blah blah

layden is a genius because he picked a guy that other teams declined on taking

The GM job has no one that is a genius. Its a matter of Luck. There are some that are unlucky like last year Layden was unlucky. If Dice played the KNicks win and make the playoffs and we are all jumping up and down. One thing losing gives a GM is a chance to be a genius for a day. Layden did good in the draft if we can rip a man for a mistake we should be man enough to say good job when he is deserving of it. I'm not ready to say good job Layden until all three rookies selected and Milos are signed sealed and delivered and this team is competing at a high level. that doesn't mean making the playoffs either it means competing at the highest level which is a championship.

Thats is exactly correct on your part Martin. If Layden takes Lampe with the 9th pick it is very unlikely that Sweetney would have been available at the 30th pick. So Layden did the right thing in taking Sweetney first. The rest worked out perfectly for the Knicks.

Its true Layden lucked out. If he takes Lampe NYK doesn't get a quality player at the 30 especially someone worthy of a lottery pick. As I said before being a GM isn't about being a genius but being lucky.

I was talking about layden's overall performance since he got here. As far as Lampe, some genius here said he'd go fourth to the Raptors. Sweetney was a good pick... Lampe was 100% luck.

Yeah his track record still sucks. I'm not going to give him props until I see all the rookies and Milos Vujanic signed and in NYK uniform. Until then we still are waiting on last years second round pick and we most likely will be waiting on two second round picks that he has made. But you have admit he did a decent job with this years draft even if luck was involved.

vmart you act like layden took sweetney first because he knew he would get lampe in the second round

that is why i said now i have seen it all

i do agree with you that this year's draft was a decent draft from a standpoint and that it won't be complete until all 3 picks are on a knicks roster
