Largest regular season Nugget crowd in their history

I wonder if Camby makes it to the HOF?

The guy is a very special player. He hit a clutch corner 3 late in the game and dropped a clutch dime to Kenyon Martin.

Finished the game with 11pts, 13reb, 9blks, 3ast, 3stls

I don't think he'll make it to the HOF, but he's certainly been a stat monster for a while now.

lack of a ring hurts him, but if he gets another DPOY, he might have a chance. i think in the end he wasn't durable enough for too much of his career.

geez i miss having him on our squad though.

As good as he is, I just can't compare him to the likes of Olajuwon, Ewing, Malone, Barkley, etc.

If he can get 9,000pts, 9,000reb, 2,000blks, and 1000stls you got to put him in.

9,000 points seems incredibly low to be inducted into the HOF.

9 BLOCKS!!!

I think he actually had 11 but got jipped on a couple. He definitely altered about 20shots tonight.

I think he needs another dominating playoff run, similar to his 99 run. those things tend to stand out more in the minds of voters than pure stats. if he can play like this in the playoffs and take the Nuggets deep in the second round or WCF... maybe... but if they go out in the first round again...

And we had some delusional posts during the summer stating shotblocking is overrated, remember that ? Funny how idiotic some of the views on this forum can be.

also, he only has 6400 rebs now. you're asking him to basically play another three full years at his current level to get to 9000 rebs.

I'm going by compilation of stats he might have a shot at 10,000pts but I doubt it. The other stats are very attainable or already achieved. He needs to remain healthy of course.

He's on pace now to finish the season with 1,000+reb. He has 715 after tonight's game. He's increased his rebounding average over the past 3yrs. If he can average about 850reb for the next 4yrs he'll get it easily. He's way ahead of his rebounding total pace from last yr in which he finished with 815reb. His current season average is 14.3...14*80=1120reb

he's gonna be 34 at the start of next season and history shows when the wheels come off a guy like camby, they come off fast. see: ben wallace, patrick, hakeem, etc.

i love camby, but he's never played 80 games, and rarely gotten in 70. his career high games in a season before he went to the nuggets was 63. now, maybe that means he lasts longer in the long run because he doesn't have as many miles on him, but durability has never been his strong suit.

Let's take a look at Charles Barkley's career numbers:

23,757 Points, 12,546 Rebounds, 4,215 Assists, 1,648 Steals, 888 Blocks.

Its in the points category where the biggest difference exists between Camby and Barkley. Camby has to have at least 18,000 points just to even be considered IMHO.

I could've came up with a less popular/proven Hall of Famer, but you get the gist.

i think a better comparison to Camby, and a similar longshot to the hall of fame is Alonzo Mourning.

Mourning was a two time DPOY and has 14000pts 7000rebs 2400blks.

Camby currently has one DPOY award, 7000pts 6400rebs and 1750blks.

both are great players, but not hall of fame. not if you compare them to the other bigs of their era: Hakeem, Ewing, Malone, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Robinson. Webber even has 18000pts 8000rebs 1200blks 1200stls 3500assts and i don't think there's any way Webber makes the HOF.

edit: all this is to say: this is a lot more fun to talk about than anything involving the current knicks. we never should've traded Camby.

Ok, maybe Mourning was the guy I was looking for, I just couldn't come up with a fair comparison at the moment. Zo was certainly a block specialist, but a much more prolific scorer than Marcus Camby. And while I might think Alonzo might flirt with a HOF induction, I think he'll get denied.

You guys are more than likely right. I mean Nique got denied twice and he had a spectacular resume.

we have no need for defensive frontcourt players.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
