NUGGETS MAY MAKE PUSH FOR RANDOLPH
By MARC BERMAN

INTERESTING NUGGET: There is talk that Zach Randolph and another Knick could be shipped to Denver for Eduardo Najera, J.R. Smith, Linas Kleiza and Steven Hunter.
February 15, 2008 -- The success of the Blazers has hurt Zach Randolph's trade value, but there are rumblings the Nuggets and the KnicksNew York Knicks have discussed a multi-player trade involving the disgruntled power forward.

Nuggets general manager Mark Warkentien was the former Blazers director of scouting when Portland tabbed Randolph in the NBA Draft. It is believed names discussed in a potential deal included Linas Kleiza, Eduardo Najera, Steven Hunter and J.R. Smith for Randolph and another Knick. The Knicks appear most interested in up-and-comer Kleiza.

It is still a longshot Eddy CurryEddy Curry or Randolph get moved, because any deal that would bring back a solid player such as Ron Artest also would include a bad contact Isiah Thomas is not allowed to inherit.

Randolph said he will not be broken up if he leaves the Knicks.

"If it happens, it happens," Randolph said. "I'm just here to play basketball. I don't care where I go. If I'm in New York, I'll give my best."

Randolph seemed in a genuine state of despair in the visiting locker room in Boston after Wednesday's 111-103 loss.

"It's been the same things all year, up and down," Randolph said. "We need something."

Asked if that meant a trade, Randolph said, "We need something. Whatever we're doing ain't working."

One NBA personnel man said the problem with Randolph is once he's not scoring, he doesn't play any defense.

"I'm sure they'd like to move them but there aren't a lot of takers," another GM said. "You have to be leery of taking Zach, and there's no assurance Curry will ever live up to his potential."

Curry seemed to advocate a trade, too.

"You never want to see teammates leave, I just hope we can turn this around," Curry said.

Curry told The Post recently about being traded, "It's been tough, but I don't' want to run from my problems. I had tough moments here, but good moments here. Whenever (Thomas) sees it's time for me to go, I go."

the only reasons I don't see this happening are (1) financially for the Nuggets, it makes no sense. They now have 3 forwards with monstrous contracts; Nene, Martin and then you add Randolph. (2) we already have 15 players on the roster.

the no defense I actually don't see as a problem because that whole team doesn't play defense. Plus Randolph would have Camby next to him.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to New York and Denver being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New York and Denver had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Wow if that trade is actually made I will be shocked beyond belief. I guess we'd have to chalk that up to Grunwald since it offers cap relief, something Isiah has never done and will never do.

we'd probably buy someone out- freddy jones, unless he's going in the deal.

This would be an awesome trade- and depending on how things mesh on denver's side, potentially beneficial for both teams...

Ongbok, chill with the ridiculous trade scenarios, Denver is NOT trading Mike Miller for Malik Rose and Fred Jones. I'm sorry.

The names mentioned in the article would make the Knicks better. Klieza/JR smith are up and coming. Hunter is a shot blocker with good speed in the open court. He played well with Phily next to Dalembert before he got traded. I can't see why he hasn't stuck with one team. If the trade goes down I guess we'll find out why......eduardo is a Knick already. 4 players with no attatchment to anyone on the roster, or Isiah. All are hungry for personal sucsess and have up to this point have been good team players.

This would be the best situation for the Knicks. Isiah could then waive Jerome. This is the exact move isiah should make......hopefully these new guys can help phase out some of the guys here....like Q, Mardy, and whoever else.

That trade would be awesome, linas is going to be a very good player and it would open up the floor to getting rid of eddy and jamal and starting over getting a great player in the draft and having money to spend in a couple of years

That's what its all about. This deal would open the doors for change. The draft, then hopefully Isiah is allowed to step down and hire a real coach THAT FITS! This is what we need.

I think that if this goes down we will end up with Nene, Hunter and Kleiza for Randolph and Freddie Jones. Either way Denver will want either KMart or Nene included in the trade. They need ZBo's scoring to go with Camby's defensive presence. I just hope it is Nene and not KMart. Although both players are injury prone. Both players has not played a full season in the past 4-5 years....but to pick up Kleiza and Hunter this would be a good trade for us.

This trade would absolutely push the Nuggets to the elite teams of the Western Conference.
C-Camby
PF-ZBo
SF-Carmelo "Cheap Shot" Anthony
SG-JR Smith
PG-Iverson

Now they just need to get a better SG. Well, Freddie Jones can play the role of Snow for Iverson. I can see why Denver wants ZBo.

If this trade happens then we need to send Curry to Sac for Artest and a 2nd rounder.

Curry would prosper in Sac since they have a lot of consistent shooters and Brad Miller would be the perfect compliment for Curry. I big man that rebounds plays good post defense and gets his offense around the perimeter.

I'm down wit it.

David lee
Artest/Klieza
Hunter
Craw
Artest/Klieza

Its just a huge change. The locker room would change. The media would have something new to ridicule and this board would stop repeating the same **** everyday.

Then...after this send Jamal, QRich, Malik Rose, Mardy to Seattle for Wally, KT, Ridnour and a 2nd rounder.

Hey! I just blew up the Knicks and now have the following

C-Nene
PF-DLee
SF-Artest
SG-Kleiza
PG-Ridnour

Bench-Wally, Balkman, The Mayor, Hunter, Nate, Morris

I also get a couple of 2nd rounders. WOOHOO!
